"Luiz, you know that her decision might make this project less financially viable.", she said.
"It wont.", he said.
"Luiz.", I called him.
He turned back.
"I am thankful to you for supporting my decision.", I said.
"Don't be. It was your idea and the suggestion was good.", he said.
"But it certainly needs some modifications.", Maryam said.
"Lara will work upon that too. Isn't it?", he asked me expectantly.
"Yeah I will.", I said and after a while excused myself.
"Mrs. Lara.", I heard someone calling me.
It was Mr. Brown.
So he didn't leave.
"Digging into my personal information would lead you nowhere.", he said gritting his teeth.
"We shall see to all that. Now just do what you are supposed to Mr. Brown.", I said.
He gripped one of my arms harshly.
"Will never leave you girl! You have made me cut a sorry figure in front of all of them.", he said.
"Leave my hand.", I said.
His grip tightened.
"I said leave.", I said in a louder tone.
The next thing I knew was, I slapped him hard on his face.
He immediately left my arm as his hand went to hold his stinging cheek.
"Behave yourself.", I said.
"What the hell is happening over here?", Luiz asked.
When did he come?
"I was teaching Mr. Brown some manners.", I told him.
"Mr. Brown, you are thrown out.", Luiz said. He held my hand and started walking away from Mr. Brown for which I didn't resist.
We walked hand in hand till Caroline's cabin.
"Please call me whenever you are in need. I am always there for you.", he said.
"Okay.", I replied staring at his gorgeous face.
We stared at each other for I don't know how long.
"I love you.", he said.
I had rushed emotions. I was hearing it for the second time from him.
I decided not to reply him. I don't want to get distracted now, when I just have two weeks to go to Germany.
"It is fine. It was just a gentle reminder. Now go and work.", he said and smiled.
I entered the room quickly.
I started blushing.
After sometime, the door flew open.
"Lara you should have discussed the things with me.", Caroline said.
"My suggestions were not wrong.", I said to convince her.
"These decisions are very crucial.", she said.
I didn't reply her back.
"What happened between you and Mr. Brown?", she asked.
"He tried to misbehave.", I told.
"You should have slapped him right away.", she said.
"I did.", I said.
"Good! Luiz already kicked him out of this project.", she said.
"Okay.", I said and blushed again.
"Let's leave. I shall drop you.", she said.
From past one-month Caroline used to drop me. I felt bad because I should be the one doing so as I was younger to her.
We were seated in the car.
"Luiz seems to be in good terms with you now.", she said.
"Yeah, we are fine now.", I said.
"Why don't you come back home?", she asked.
I was surprised. I really didn't expect her to ask that now.
"I need some time. Besides, I like staying with my grand mom. I never stayed with her for more than three days before my marriage. Also, I have to concentrate on my work and career.", I said.
"She can stay in the mansion with us if you want.", she said.
"Thank you. But I don't think she would agree to that. Even I wouldn't.", I said.
"Why not? We are a family.", she said.
I sighed.
"I will think about it and discuss with her,", I said.
"Luiz misses you a lot.", she said.
I gave her a questioning look.
"He always says that you made a good dinner for him.", she said and chuckled.
I smiled.
"He may not say it out. But he is very lonely inside. After Maryam left him. He drowned himself in work to forget her. I knew he needed someone and I chose you.", she said.
"I know what happened between you two.", she added.
What?? She knew??
She faced me for few seconds.
"He really is regretting what happened. It was a big misunderstanding.", she said.
"He never trusted me.", I said painfully.
"I know that it was his fault. But forgive him this time. It will never happen again.", she said.
How can I forgive him?
"Think about it. No hurries.", she said.
I didn't want to have any thoughts right now.
I went home.
"How was your presentation Lara?", my grand mom asked.
"It went well. Few of my suggestions are accepted. Luiz supported me.", I said cheerfully.
"Good!", she said but her smile didn't reach her eyes.
"What is the matter?", I asked her.
"Don't fall for his trap again. He doesn't respect you.", she said.
"He is changing.", I said.
Her temper flared immediately.
"Don't defend him. Did you forget what he did to you?", she asked.
I didn't utter a word.
"Dont you ever go back to his life. Divorce him.", she said and she started breathing heavily.
Oh my God! She is having wheezing!
"Okay sure. Please control yourself.", I brought her the inhaler.
"She used it and after sometime she was back to normal.
I kneeled down in front of her.
Tears were pricking from my eyes.
"He hurt you. Stay away from him.", she said.
"Okay.", I said.
I went to my room and sat on my bed.
I held my head between my hands.
What shall I do now?
I and grand mom had dinner along with her care taker.
We never spoke a word.
I got back to my room and started completing assignments for my course.
I heard a knock.
I went and opened the door of my room but no one was there.
I left the door open.
Maybe it is the caretaker.
I checked the time.
It was 11.50 pm.
Who can it be this late night?
I heard the knock again. But I heard it carefully this time.
It was from my window.
I took a rod and opened it slowly.
"Its me.", he said.
It was Luiz!
