The sun was setting, casting an orange glow across the mansion's garden. My nerves were on edge, my hands cold and clammy as I paced my room, waiting.

There was a soft knock on the door, and when I opened it, Mark stood there, his expression serious but laced with concern.

"Doc," he said in a hushed tone. "Dew and Win are in the middle of a discussion with the boss. If we're going to do this, now's our chance."

My heart leapt into my throat, a mixture of fear and resolve tightening my chest. I nodded quickly, grabbing my phone from the nightstand and following him into the hallway.

"We have to act fast," Mark whispered. "Stick close to me and don't say anything. Let me handle the guards."

We moved quickly, my footsteps light but my pulse thundering in my ears. Every corner we turned, every guard we passed, I felt my stomach twist in fear. What if they stopped us? What if Sky found out before we got out?

At the main door, two guards stepped forward, their sharp eyes flicking between me and Mark.

"Where are you taking the doctor?" one of them asked, his tone suspicious.

Mark's expression didn't falter. "Boss's orders," he said smoothly. "He wants the doc moved to a safer location. You know how paranoid he's been lately."

The guards exchanged a glance but didn't press further. They stepped aside, and Mark pushed the door open, gesturing for me to follow him.

The cool evening air hit me as we stepped outside. A black car was waiting in the driveway, its engine idling softly.

"Get in," he said, motioning to the passenger seat as he slid into the driver's side.

I hesitated for a moment, glancing back at the mansion. My chest tightened with guilt. Sky would find out-of course he would. And when he did, his wrath would be terrifying. But I couldn't think about that now. Pond needed me.

I climbed into the car, shutting the door behind me. Mark didn't waste a second, pulling out of the driveway and onto the main road.

The drive was tense and silent. I stared out the window, my thoughts racing as the scenery blurred past.

"Mark," I said softly after a while. "Thank you."

He glanced at me briefly, his jaw tight. "Don't thank me yet, Doc. Boss is going to kill me when he finds out I helped you."

I let out a weak laugh, though it was more out of nerves than humor. "You didn't have to do this."

"Yes, I did," he said firmly. "Because I know how much this means to you. And because... I failed you once. I won't let that happen again."

His words made my chest ache, but I didn't respond. Instead, I turned my focus back to the road ahead. Pond's house wasn't far now, and all I could think about was seeing him, making sure he was safe.

Deep down, though, I knew this wasn't over. Sky would find out. And when he did, there'd be hell to pay.

The meeting dragged on longer than expected. Sky, Dew, and I sat around the table, maps and surveillance photos spread out before us as we discussed Hong's movements. The bastard was always two steps ahead, and unraveling his plan was like chasing smoke.

Sky's expression was unreadable, but I could feel the tension radiating off him. He wasn't just angry-he was scared.

I leaned back in my chair, letting out a heavy sigh. Yesterday's events replayed in my mind. Nani's confession, the way he'd laid his heart bare... It was a rare thing to see Sky caught off guard, but that moment had shaken him. He loved Nani-anyone with eyes could see it. But Sky, as always, buried his feelings beneath layers of control and restraint.

He needed to own up to them, for his sake and Nani's.

My phone buzzed on the table, pulling me out of my thoughts. I picked it up, my heart sinking as I read the message.

Doctor's gone.

"What?" I muttered, my voice sharp.

Dew and Sky turned to me instantly, their eyes narrowing.

"What is it?" Sky demanded.

I stood abruptly, my chair scraping against the floor. "Boss... Dr. Nani's gone. He snuck out of the mansion. My men just spotted him at his brother house."

Sky shot to his feet, his entire body going rigid. For a moment, his face was unreadable. Then, like a storm breaking, the emotions hit-anger, fear, disbelief.

"What do you mean he's gone?" he growled, his voice low and dangerous.

"He took Mark with him," I added quickly, trying to defuse the situation. "They drove to his brother's house. My men are already moving in to secure the area."

Sky's expression darkened further, his hands clenching into fists. "How the hell did this happen? What were the guards doing? How did he get past them?"

"Mark must've covered for him," Dew said grimly.

That seemed to take some of the edge off Sky's fury, but not much. His jaw tightened, and he turned to the door without another word.

"Where are you going?" I asked, already knowing the answer.

"To get him," Sky said, his voice cold.

"Boss, let us handle this," I said quickly, stepping forward. "You need to stay here. If Hong is watching, this could be a trap-"

But he was already out the door, his strides long and determined.

Dew and I exchanged a glance before following him.

My chest burned with a mix of fury and fear as I stormed toward the garage. My mind raced with every worst-case scenario imaginable. Hong was too smart, too calculated.

The thought of Nani walking straight into a trap made my blood run cold.

I clenched my fists, trying to rein in my emotions, but it was impossible. I'd told him to trust me. I'd sworn I'd protect Pond. And yet, he'd still gone behind my back, risking everything.

When I reached the car, Dew and Win were already climbing in the car behind me.

"Get us there. Now," I barked at the driver, sliding into the backseat.

As the car roared to life and sped down the road, I leaned forward, my hands gripping the back of the driver's seat tightly.

"If anything happens to him," I said, my voice is low and deadly, "there will be consequences. For everyone."

The tension in the car was suffocating, pressing down on all of us as the city flew past the windows. I'd seen Sky angry before-hell, I'd seen him furious. But this? This wasn't just anger.

This was fear.

He didn't show it outright-not in the way most people did. But I'd worked with him long enough to see it in the way his jaw clenched, his hands gripping the seat in front of him like it was the only thing keeping him grounded.

Dew caught my eye, his expression grim. "He's barely holding it together," he murmured quietly, too low for Sky to hear.

"I know," I said, my voice was just as soft. "But you know him. Once he's made up his mind..."

Dew nodded, his gaze flicking back to Sky. "Let's just hope we get there in time."
