The headlights of the SUV cut through the darkness as I slammed it to a halt near the treeline. My boots hit the ground hard as I grabbed my weapon from the passenger seat. My chest is tight with urgency, every instinct screaming at me to move faster.
Gunfire was still crackling in the distance, though it was fainter now-Hong's men had shifted their focus, converging on the safe house. I scan the treeline, my eyes sharp, looking for Dew.
There he was, pinned behind a tree, taking shelter as he traded shots with Hong's men. His movement were precise, but he was outnumbered.
I shifted my gaze toward the safe house.
The backdoor was slightly ajar. My blood ran cold.
Damn it! Nani.

The moment Hong lunged at me, all the fear I'd felt earlier vanished, replaced by something colder, sharper. The adrenaline coursing through my vein was familiar now, like old friends. A smile tugged at the corner of my lips as i stepped back, narrowly avoiding his blade.
"You know," i said, circling him slowly, my knife held low and steady. "I've been underestimated my whole life." I said, watching him, studying him. For all his confidence, he made one fatal mistake: he thought i was weak.
I blame my overprotective brother for that.
"Come on, Hong." I taunt him. "You thought i was helpless, didn't you? Just some pretty-faced doctor that you can easily handle."
Hong's smirk faltered, just for a second. I saw the flicker of confusion in his eyes.
"You're stalling." He said, his voice low, trying to regain control. He lunged again, faster this time, the blade aimed straight for my ribs.
But i was faster. I sidestepped his attack, pivoting on my heel and caught his wrist with my free hand. His blade missed me by inches. Before he could react, i drove my knee hard into his ribs, forcing a sharp grunt from his lips as he stumbled back.
"That," i said, shaking out my shoulder, "is for making me take months off work." I smirked, enjoying the way his face twisted with confusion.
"Do you have any idea how much i love my job? But....maybe i should thank you. If it weren't for you, i wouldn't have met Sky."
Hong straightened, his smirk gone, replaced by a snarl. "You're full of surprises."
""You have no idea." I replied smoothly, shifting my stance.
He lunged again, his strikes more erratic this time. His frustration was showing. But i was calm. Focused. My body moves on instinct-the years of Muay Thai training kicked in like muscle memory. I deflected his attack with ease. Sidestepping his slashes and redirecting his momentum.
He swung wide, leaving himself open. I capitalized on the mistake, twisting his arm and sending his blade clattering to the ground. In the same motion, I drove my elbow hard into the side of his head.
He staggered. I didn't give him a chance to recover. My strikes came fast and relentless-knees, elbows, kicks-each one landing exactly where I intended. My knife stayed steady in my grip, but i didn't need it. Not yet.
"This one's for putting a bullet in Mark last week." i said, delivering a sharp elbow to his jaw. He stumbled, his balance faltering.
Hong groaned, breathing hard, his eyes wide with shock. Like he just realise the mistake he doing. "You-what the hell-"
I tilted my head, my expression calm, almost clinical. I smile brightly at him.
"Did you think i was just some weak link? Sky toy boy? Or just a helpless surgeon that need a protection?." I took a step closer, my voice lowering.
"I've seen blood more than you do. I've been trained to use a knife to save life and this skill really came in handy now" By saying that i'm flashing my knife in front of him.
"And if you think you can take me down that easily, and using me to hurt Sky, you're dumber than i thought."
Hong expression twisted with angry. He lunged again, with his fist. But before he know it i send him flying and pinned him to the ground, my knife pressing against his throat. His wide, furious eyes locked onto mine, and i saw it: Fear
"I could end this right here, right now." I said, my voice was calm and steady. "But i'm not like you. I don't take lives. I saved them."
I pressed the blade just enough to draw a bead of blood. Hong flinched.
"You're Sky's problem now." I continued coldly. "I don't care what he does to you. But if you come after me or anyone i care about again...." I leaned closer, my voice dropping to a whisper.
"Next time, I won't hesitate."
Before he could respond, I drove my fist into his face, knocking him unconscious.

I burst into the clearing, my gun drawn, my mind racing. The chaos around me-the gunfire, the shouting-faded into the background as my eyes locked on the scene ahead.
Nani stood in the middle of the clearing. His clothes slightly disheveled, a knife glinting in his hand. He look calm. Too calm.
And at his feet lay Hong, out cold.
"Nani! I shouted, rushing toward him.
He turned to me, his expression unreadable. He looked like a different person-still my Nani, but sharper, more dangerous.
"Sky." He said calmly, as though I hadn't just sprinted through a warzone to get to him. "You're here."
I stopped in my tracks, staring at him in disbelief. "What....what the hell happened?"
He shrugged. Wiping the blade of his knife on his sleeve. And i can see blood stained there. "I took care of it."
"Took care of it?" I echoed, my voice rising. "What does that even mean?"
Before Nani could answer, Dew stumbled into the clearing, his rifle still raised. His eyes swept over the scene, landing on Hong's unconscious form.
"What the hell...." Dew muttered, lowering his weapon. "Did you....do that?"
Nani glanced at him, his expression deadpan. "I told you i could handle myself. Didn't I?."
Dew blinked, his usual composure slipping. "I.....what?"
Win's voice crackled through the comms. "Boss, what happening? Is the doctor safe?"
I didn't answer immediately. I couldn't. My gaze stayed locked on Nani, a mix of shock, relief, and something else twisting in my chest.
"Nani's safe." I said into the comms, my voice faint. "But......Hong isnt't."

Back at the surveillance station, i stared at the monitor, my mouth slightly open. The audio feed from Sky's comm had gone quiet, save for his faint muttering: " what the actual hell..."
"What's going on?" I asked, gripping the edge of the console.
The camera feed finally switched to the clearing. I froze.
Hong was sprawled. On the ground, unconscious. And Nani-sweet, quiet Dr.Nani-stood over him, calm as summer breeze, a knife glinting in his hand.
"Win," i muttered to myself, shaking my head. "You got to stop underestimating people."

Sky approached me cautiously, his gun lowered but still in his hand. His eyes scanned me for injuries, his movements slower than usual, like he wasn't sure what to say.
"You okay? He asked quietly.
I nodded. "I'm fine."
He glanced at Hong then back at me.
"How.....how the hell did you do that?"
I shrugged. Playing with the knife in my hand. "Years of Muay Thai with Pond. Turns out it comes in handy."
Sky stared at me, his mouth slightly open. "But you don't seem like-"
"Like what?" I cut him off, smirking. "Like someone who knows how to defend himself?. My brother's always been overprotective. I just let him be the big brother as he is supposed to be". I said, moving closer to him.
"I don't like violence, never used to it. Before, I got Pond to protect me, now. I have you." I said, playfully.
Sky stared at me for a long moment, his expression unreadable. Then, finally, he let out a breath and gave me a small, crooked smile.
"Remind me never to piss you off." He said.
I smirked. "You better not."
And then he reached for my arm and pulled me to a big hug and followed by a sweet kiss.
