To say I was nervous would be an understatement
Henry was on his way right now and he would probably be here in the morning as it did take a whole day of travel to arrive here
"Emma, please get the head butler," I told her as I made my way to my office
Yesterday I knew I had to act quickly and I needed some way to make Henry acknowledge them
When I got home, my children already had left and while I was supposed to sleep and be ready for this morning
I couldn't be
I stayed up the whole night just thinking about what is going to happen this morning
I couldn't sleep and I woke up earlier than expected since the sun was just about to come out
I took a bath much longer than usual as I needed time to get myself together
I have to be strong for my children and withstand whatever Henry decides to do
No one can intervene between us, that was learned the hard way
Sometime after our marriage, we had gotten into an argument and that was the first time he ever hit me
My personal guard at that time tried to intervene and help me but he lost his hand in the process and was exiled from the estate
Everyone in my house knows what is going to happen and to not intervene no matter what
As I finish looking over some paperwork, Emma rushes into my office
"Henry is riding onto the estate right now," She tells me
"Well then I should go greet him," I tell as I make my way down to the main entrance
As I walk down the staircase and pass by some servants they all give me the look of pity
They all are aware of what is going to go down, but I have to stand up for my children
As the entrance comes into view I see Henry rushing inside
"Welcome," I say as I notice it is just me and him alone, all the servants have returned to their room
"YOU DIRTY BITCH" He yells as he comes closer to me
"YOU THINK BY TELLING THE QUEEN THAT I WILL ADOPT THOSE RATS THAT YOU PICKED UP FROM THE STREET!" He yells closer to my face making me look up at him
"I do, I already told you that money does not matter for I will be financially responsible for them but they did to be adopted by both of us, on paper at least," I reply back taking a couple of steps back from him
"HA, why so they can inherit what I worked so hard for" He replies as he comes closer
" I already told you we don't need your money, all I need is for you to sign those adoption papers or else I will inform the k---
"-- SHUT UP" He exclaims as he punches me in the face making me fall onto the ground
"WHO ARE YOU TO THREATEN ME? You are no one to be giving me orders" He says as I struggle to get up
"I will protect my children, and I will tell the king or someone else will. Don't forget I warned you that other people know the information and if anything happens to me or my children that information will be taken straight to the king" I said as I finally got up
There are a couple of moments of silence and
Henry decides to come closer and grab me by my hair
" You think you're so clever, huh, but I won't adopt those rats," He says as he pulls me up by my hair
"Then you will be demoted or exiled for having betrayed the crown" I reply as I try to yank his hands off me
He seems to think then and throws me on the ground
"The adoption papers were already sent out all I would is your signature "I replied as I struggled to pick myself up from the ground
"You will pay for this," He says before leaving out the door
A couple of moments later I see the head maid and Emma running towards me
" My lady," They both say as they help me stand up
"Come on, I already prepared the bath," Emma says she starts to lead towards my room
"Head Butler please inform me when those adoption papers get returned back to us," I say as I hold on to Emma
When I get to the bathroom
Emma helps me undress and in the reflection, I see my face has swelled up and that hair is a mess
"I will be back with something for the swelling," She says as she leaves the room
I sit in the tub just thinking about my children, hoping they're alright
***THIRD POV***
The children when they arrived were welcomed and had spent the day asking endless questions about their mom, but no one could give a direct answer
They were put to bed early as they had seemed exhausted by the trip
"Elijah, what do you think mom is doing?" Jude asked in bed as they were all sharing a room
"She is fine, probably just sorting through something difficult right now" Elijah responded as he sat up in bed
"But she didn't even inform us that we would be leaving?" Nesrin responded while pulling her blanket closer
"Something must have come up unexpectedly" Arabella replied as she got up to get in bed with Nesrin
"Mom is going to be fine, she is tough" Theo replied as he snuggled in bed
"But Elijah what is going to be our next step" Arabella replied as she hugged Nesrin
"Once mom comes for us we need to talk to her or figure out our situation, she isn't alone we need to help her" Elijah replied as he laid back down in bed
"That's true we need to protect mom" Jude responded
After that, all the kids fell asleep with the thought
