Chapter 5: Chapter 5

The BrokenWords: 2213

After getting ready, we were on our way

" My lady, if I may ask but why the sudden interest in adopting children" Emma asked sitting in front of me in the carriage

" Well I thought about how lonely it must be to grow up without the love of a parent" I said thinking to the Ravens.

Will they like me?

Will the future change for the better?

" I think thats a splendid idea, My lady" She said

The ride to the orphanage was a bit longer than expected but soon we arrived.

" My lady we have arrived" the Cain the guard told us

As we stepped outside the orphanage was a big house that seemed to be in good condition

Looking from the outside one would never think that the children inside were mistreated

" Welcome" Said the Director in charge coming towards us. He was a short bald man who had a suit that was too long for him.

" with what can I help you today Mrs.Irvine" He asked

" I have come to adopt some children, as you know I have no children of my own and I think adopting would be nice" I said looking around the building

"Of course, Mrs.Irvine please follow me. We do have many children of many different ages. Of course their intellectual levels are low as they have no private tutor but all the children know the basics" He told me as we started walking towards the building

Once inside we were lead to a big room where all the kids were eating.

" As you can see, the children are well cared for here. Currently some are inside eating and others are outside playing." He informed me as we walked around the room.

As I searched the room, the Ravens were not here

" I think I would like to just walk around, if you don't mind. Before I make a choice" I said turning to face him.

" Of course, an assistant will accompany you so you do get lost. Please inform me when you choice is made so the paperwork can be prepared." He said gesture to an assistant to help me before bowing and leaving.

" My lady, where else would you like to see" The assistant asked

" Lets go outside to the playground" I said

Following the assistant outside there were even more children

Emma stayed by my side observing the children

As I looked around again they weren't here

Where were they

Could they have already left the orphanage
