"Mrs. Irvine, the children you spoke about well.....they are not the best we have to offer" The director told me wiping away his bald head.
"How so?" I asked narrowing my gaze on him.
After walking inside Emma, and me walked into the office of the director and told him my chosen children.
"What I mean is that those children are not as bright as others we have more available. Please reconsider" He said matching my gaze
I will not be intimidated I thought as I replied
" I have made my choice, I do not want to wait more time" I said taking a seat
" Of course my lady the paperwork will be ready momentarily" He said taking a seat as well
After what seemed like forever, we were let out of the room and made our way to the carriage.
Standing in front of it were all the 5 children.
"Why did you adopt us" Asked Elijah holding Nisrin's hand.
I couldnt help but admire how they were all so united
" Because I want to give you all a better life" I said as I kneeled to their level
"I know life has been rough for you all but I hope with time you can learn to trust me" I said as I stood up.
" My lady, the carriage is ready" Cain said as he opened the door
"Children, please go inside" Emma said helping me into the carriage
The children all fit on one side of the carriage considering how small they all were
Me and Emma sat on the other side
"Well why dont you each introduce yourself" I said looking at each of the kids
After a brief moment of silence
" My name is Elijah, I am 10 years old" He said looking straight at me
" I am Theo, I'm 8" He said looking around the carriage
" My name is Arabella" She said staring at her hands
"Nisrin" She said next barley audible
" I'm Jude" He said bodly smiling at me
The rest of the ride was in silence with the occasional question here or there
As we approached the home, I glanced at the kids to see their reactions
My home was big to say even though not as grand to the main estate
It constituted of 3 floors surrounded by gardens on all sides.
The children all looked out the window and their eyes shone with wonder at their new home
We arrived and I was the first one out of the carriage
" My lady, how did the visit go" My butler Adam asked
"It went wonderful, starting today these are my children" I said as the kids started to get out of carriage
" Of course, my lady" He said taking a look at all the kids
" Children, this is going to be your new home" I said kneeling down to them as I spoke
"I hope you feel welcomed and know if you need anything you can tell me or anyone here. " I said looking at all the children.
"Now lets go inside" I told them as they followed me inside
