Chapter 50: Chapter 34

JACE POV

It's been a week since Ashley was transferred to the hospital,  everywhere was so tense. Hailey hasn't stopped crying and we had all been preparing for our upcoming exams.

I sighed as I packed the past questions into the duffel bag with some papers as Emi walked into the dorm.

"You're going to see her? " He asked as I nodded slightly.

"I'm the head boy and it's my duty to check on every students well-being,  The principal said I could go check on her so I'm taking a few books in case she's awake" I muttered letting Emi roam through the bag.

" Since you're going,  there's a lot of get well soon cards that the students had written for her " Emi opened his drawer as he pulled out a box filled with letters handing it to me as I made my way to the school bus.

As I got to Ashley ward,  I could see two male figures talking to her as she laughed throwing one a glare as I walked in.

I could see the doctor as he nodded to me as i smiled.

"Brother Justin! " I said surprised as I greeted the second male figure gave me a hug.

"Jace you've grown taller!  And i hear you've captured my baby sister in your web" Justin wiggled his eyebrows as Ashley threw a spoon at him that landed on my head.

"sorry jay" she muttered as I shrugged sitting beside her bed.

" can I see you both? "the doctor asked as I and Justin walked out as he looked at us.

" she's.. She's really strong... And also shes lucky to be awake ..please take good care of her.. Nothing should stress her... She.. She nearly died you know?  I'm having goosebumps talking about this.." The doctor said as he rushed off leaving Justin and I as I could see tears circle Justin's eyes.

" I can't lose any of my sisters... Ashley neatly died and Hailey.. " he said as he kept shut walking into the room.

What's wrong with Hailey?

" I'll leave you two then.. I need to go fill her discharge papers"

"she's getting discharged? "I asked

"Yes..she'll be returning to school alongside you tomorrow "Justin replied as I smiled at Ashley who nodded as her brother left.

"Hey..i brought some past questions if you'd like to study " i suggested as she nodded quickly as  I handed her a piece of pen and paper.

TOLANI POV

I stares through the window as I saw Jace assist Ashley in getting off the bus.

" she's back. " I muttered as I rushed downstairs where the principal and other ss3 students where lined up welcoming her back.

" Tolani" she called out.

" Ashley."

"I'm glad you're back" I seethed through my teeth

"I knew you were always pretending not to care" she replied

" You wish. And news flash; I'm not pretending,  I actually don't care. " I spat as Jace glared at me as I shrugged moving aside for them to pass.

I smiled slightly as I stared at the wires connected to her body as she struggled to keep herself upright.

"Thank God you didn't die" I muttered as she stopped abruptly.

"why say so? " she looked curiously at me as I traced one of the wires to her hand.

" I'd rather prefer I be the cause of your death.. So stop being a weakling and stay alive let me finish you off myself" I whispered only to her hearing as she smiled.

" Again.. Welcome back Ash" I said as I trailed off leaving her alone.

Hailey POV

I stood abruptly as I stared at my sister,  Dressed in our school uniform with different wires connected to her body.

Please don't stress her,  she's going through a though time.. Anything could make her break down totally.

I could remember the doctors words ringing in my head, I so badly wanted to tell myself sister everything.

I wanted to tell her I have been recieving threats,  I wanted to tell her I had cancer , I wanted to say it all but I couldn't risk losing her again.

I couldn't help but burst into tears as I rushed towards her.

"Ashley... Look!  Look at you!! " I said crying as she stared at me pointing at the wires in her body connected to a box that was strapped on her chest.

"I thought... " I muttered staring at her as she hugged me tightly.

"Don't think about that. I'm here now. And that's all that matters... "
