Lou's POV:
"What?" I chocked out, not knowing on what should I be surprised. The case about him having a sister or when he used the past term 'had'.
" I had a sister...Her name was Thalia." He had said calmly while looking down at his lap.
"H-had?" I asked worried and afraid of his answer.
"Yeah. She died three years ago, when she was nineteen." He said not being able to look up.
"I-I'm so sorry." I said as I sat next to him and rubbed his shoulder in a comforting way.
"You remind me of her."
"Really?" I asked shocked, maybe that's why he was telling me about her, because I remind him of her.
"How?" I asked quietly.
"She used to be the palest werewolf in the pack that we thought she was a human. She was friendly and joyful, in other words, she was always bubbly and everything around her brightened." He said chuckling as he remembered her.
"She was so excited to finally meet her mate, he was from another pack. They met at the annual werewolf ball..." He continued as his eyes darkened. "She was so happy when she finally met him, she always dreamed of her prince charming, who would love her even after death and cherish her his whole life. But turns out he was the complete opposite of devoted, loyal or mate. He rejected her the second day."
"Oh no!" I gasped sadly and placed my hand to cover my now open mouth.
"Yes that fucker rejected her and in the same time he broke her. She suffered from depression and later on killed herself."
"Oh my god!" I gasped louder as he finally turned to look at me with his watery eyes.
"I-I tried to help her. I tried everything to convince her that she didn't need him! That's why I bought this damn camera! I bought it to take pictures of dead things, dead animals, dead plants, dead everything. I wanted her to see how ridiculous they looked and how ridiculous she would look if she decided to kill herself. I knew it was a ridiculous plan, but didn't know it was useless too." He sobbed as he burst out crying, right in front of my eyes.
"My mom died of sadness right after Thalia jumped from that cliff, and my dad died because he lost his mate. We found out that her mate died the day after she killed herself, his heart stopped beating. That son of a bitch deserved it. My grandma took me in until Maya was of legal age and took care of me till I was finally eighteen and able to live on my own." He quivered as he cried harder and harder every second. I had to make him stop, I had to do something so he wouldn't relive all the pain.
But I'm a useless kid.
I never thought a person like Simon, happy with a big smile plastered on his face, would end up having the most torturous life.
I hugged him tightly as he cried harder on my shoulder, making my shirt wet. I carressed his hair and kissed his head.
And it was a bad moment...
"WHAT THE FUCK!" The sound erupted from behind, I didn't need to turn around to know who that voice belonged too, and I sensed Simon's muscles tensing but he didn't do anything because he was just so tired.
"Oh no..." I barely murmured as Simon was harshly ripped out of my grip as Ryan started beating him up to death.
"NO STOP IT! HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG! I'M THE ONE WHO...Kissed him, Ryan please!" I screamed and hit him on his back, begging him to stop beating the obviously helpless, scared guy.
But my screaming led to nothing, Simon was passed out on the floor and Ryan wasn't moving. That beast is probably mind liking someone!
"HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING! YOU SHOULD BE BEATING ME NOT HIM!" I screamed and cried when I noticed he was back.
"THAT FUCKER TOUCHED YOU, AND IT'S NOT THE FIRST TIME!" He yelled at me shutting me up.
'Cause he's right and he made his point clear enough but your stupid ass still wanted to hug Simon here.'
He needed someone to comfort him! His sister died after all.
"He told me about his sister!" I suddenly blurted out as Ryan furrowed his eyebrows.
"Well, that's not an excuse. He has to face the consequences!" He snapped as the front door opened and Theo, Matt and Maya came in.
"What happened? We barely even got home." Maya asked shocked as she strode towards an unconscious Simon laying peacefully on the floor.
"Matt, Theo, take him to the dungeon. He'll be staying there for a month." Ryan ordered and my head turned so fast I heard it crack.
"A MONTH? THAT'S TOO LONG!" I gasped loudly and placed my hand on my mouth to cut it mid way.
"TWO-" He tried to say but I cut him.
"NO!" I screamed but he interrupted me before I could say anything.
"weeks. Two weeks then." He sighed desperately as he looked at me, but I turned my face away and found Maya looking at me instead.
"What happened?" She whispered, tears in her eyes, while Theo and Matt took Simon and walked out of the house, Ryan hot on their tails.
This was the first time I saw Maya this scared and upset...
"Simon told me about his sister." I sobbed as I looked at the floor, replaying what happened in my head.
"No..." She sighed and looked at me with shocked eyes.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Did he mention why he told you?" She asked me. Yes he did, but why does it matter?
"Yes, he said that I reminded him of her."
"It's true, but that's not it..." She mumbled as she sat down on the couch, tired of all that new shit.
"What is it then?" I asked curiously, wanting to know why he was thinking of his sister right now after three years.
"Whenever we get closer to her death day, he gets all morose and sad...After tomorrow would be the day she died."
***
I decided to pay the cells a little visit and followed Maya's instructions.
Guards would be roaming everywhere near the entrance, and in the dungeon too. That's why she told me to take a secret passage, more precisely, Ryan's secret passage that leads directly to the cells where people who didn't do something major were kept in.
I was currently in the huge basement under Ryan's house, in the middle of the night which is not creeping me out at all... He was on his way here and Maya helped me hide my scent so he wouldn't know where I would be.
'Is it a good idea to leave your very angry soulmate right now ?' No, it's not but I don't care anymore, not after what he did to Simon. He can't show mercy to anyone, that monster.
'You're mistaken, he shows mercy to you all the time, if I was him I'd slap the fuck out of you, Lou.' That's very sweet, thank you very much.
I opened the metal door and closed it carefully behind me, I turned on the hand torch that I also found in the basement and started walking down the tunnel in the only way available.
The walls were tight and sickening, the atmosphere was scary and the air smelt of sweat, blood and disgusting things I rather not imagine. I gagged multiple times while walking down the tunnel...
Maya had mind linked Theo and asked him which cell Simon was put in, it was in cell 69.
'Suits him perfectly.' Well, all the werewolves are perverts but I couldn't agree more.
I held my bag tightly around me and made sure I hadn't lost it yet.
I walked further more and noticed that dim light was coming from the end of the tunnel. That must mean I was close.
I began running and made it out of the sickening tight walls that would seem to crush me if I stayed any longer.
Making my way down the halls filled with cells, most of them empty, and most of them held men and women.
I was lost and didn't know which way to go, the darkness of the room and profanities of the prisoners didn't help much. My head started to feel heavy and I felt dizzy because of that toxic smell.
I started panicking.
Oh God! I'm going to die in her-
"Lou?"
I turned around and found a cell, it was pitch black and I couldn't see who was inside of it. But judging from the familiar voice, I knew I found him.
"Simon!" I rushed to him and we both placed our hands on the bars.
"What are you doing here Lou?" He asked surprised, the bruises on his face still visible. Damn, Ryan beat him to a pulp...
"What did they do to you?" I asked and ignored his question. I suddenly remembered the food in my bag when his stomach growled a little.
"Here, I brought you some food." I said as I looked at the tight hallway I was currently in and at the damp walls with a disgusted expression.
"What? I didn't ask for that. What are you doing here? Why did you leave him?" Simon asked again as he took the sandwich from my hand and started eating it.
"The only thing he needs right now is a good lesson, Simon." I snapped and turned my face to look at the ground.
"Don't be stubborn Lou." He chewed.
"You're still defending him after what he did to you today?" I asked shocked.
"He's your mate Lorraine! If I had a mate I would've reacted the same way!" He added quickly as he took another bite.
"If I hadn't interrupted him he would've killed you, and I can't lose you! You're the only reason why I'm happy here!" I said desperately remembering that Simon could have died today.
"Don't say that, what if he hears you? He might kill himself!"
"Don't be stupid Simon! He loves himself too much to do that!"
"He loves you more than he loves himself. Haven't you listened to me when I talked about my sister ? If you asked him to do that, he would within a heartbeat." He replied desperately as he sat on the floor and so did I.
"Lorraine, that's what you don't understand. Your mate would do anything to make you happy! It's not hard to accept it, unless..."
No, please don't say it.
"Unless you're scared."
"You know I'm not scared Simon. It's just that, he didn't choose me on his own will. He was just mated to me. Imagine if werewolves didn't exist, and the mate-bond either, if he was a normal human being, he would never even know of my existence. He would choose someone else..."
"That's what's bothering you right now? The fact that you don't deserve him?" I stayed quiet, he was right, Ryan doesn't deserve me, he deserved way better, sexier, hotter, just better than me.
"Oh my god! You're in love with him! You finally love him."
There you go. He said it.
"You're in love with him and you're scared to admit it, Lou!" He beamed happily, still unable to believe that me, a teenage girl, can love a hot creature that isn't supposed to exist.
"For the love of God, will you shut up?"
"There's something you need to understand. We humans, sometimes, don't know who's right for us, we waste most of our time with the wrong people. But the moon goddess knows exactly who's meant to be with us. That's why she mates us to the right people whom will spend the rest of their lives with us. Even if he was human, one day he would find you, meet you and choose you on his own will, you'll end up together because in the end, you're meant to be together."
"How can you be so sure?" I asked hopelessly while shrugging.
"Everything happens for a reason, believe me, no one will ever love you as much as your mate does, not even me, not even your friends and not even yourself. So Stop resisting your feelings because they're real and so are his. Just love him, you'll both be very happy once you accept your love."
"But he's a guy! He is going to hurt me, no offense but it's in your DNA!"
"None taken."
"I mean, look at all the girls he slept with! I don't want that! I never wanted that!" I whined like a little child. Blaming Ryan was way more easier than blaming my fragile heart.
"Yeah but he changed Lou, he changed before he found you, he hasn't slept with anyone knowing that it will hurt you."
"How can I make sure he doesn't regret being mated with a boring girl like me? And that he doesn't think about hot girls Like Rebecca..."
"Because... he told us he stopped, and he doesn't regret anything about you because when he was younger he wanted a girl just like you, he described you as perfect. He was never happy after the accident, until you came along, we finally saw that smile we were missing."
"What accident?" I asked, everyone seems to know about that so called accident except me.
"Hasn't he told you?" Simon asked, confusion written all over his face.
"No..."
"It's his story to share, not mine. Anyway, you must know he's happy and doesn't regret anything because he only has one girl on his mind, it's you. The thought of you, before you even showed up, made him stop." He said comfortingly.
"Everybody makes mistakes, but you, you helped him change. He's not the person he used to be before he found you. He doesn't care about girls, God! He doesn't even notice other girls anymore! You're the world to him, you're his purpose to live. Sadly, you reject him everytime he shows you that. He will never look at another girl ever again, even if you did reject him as a mate, and I hope you won't, he will have eyes only for you, trust me on that one. He will give you his heart, all his love, all of himself. He is yours as much as you are his. Give him a chance Lou, to prove that he has changed."
Wow. I can't believe all of this good advice was coming from Simon's mouth.
"I never thought you had a wise side Simon. For someone who has an endless amount of stupidity you turned out to have the same amount of wisdom in you, somehow. Thank you." I sighed as I got up, ready to leave.
"I'm flattered!" He replied sarcastically putting his hand on his heart and wiping a fake tear. My watch suddenly beeped three times, mentioning that it was finally midnight.
"It's midnight isn't it?" Simon asked quietly, although he already knew the answer.
"Yes it is. It's another day already."
"Happy birthday Lorraine." He said calmly, his eyes sparkling as he got up.
Oh yeah! It was my birthday, I forgot about it because of all the drama that happened lately.
"Guess I'm finally eighteen huh?" I asked still not able to believe I'm eighteen. I certainly did not look eighteen. And if people saw me with Ryan they would think I'm his little sister or something.
"Hard to believe..." He mumbled with a genuine smile.
"I heard that." I snapped.
"But seriously, thank you Lorraine, for everything." He said lastly as I smiled one last time before making my way back to the devil himself where hell will break loose.
