Eid Mubarakâ¨â¤ï¸
Sometimes things happen that we never imagine happening. It happened with Inara many times but this particular situation was very shocking.
"Mama! What are you saying?" Inara muttered. She was shocked, couldn't believe her ears.
"Farsi thori boli hy" Farida slapped her head.
(I didn't speak Farsi)
"Mama!"
"I am saying, Azwa's parents asked for your hand in marriage with their son" Farida politely explained it to her again.
"Azwa's brother?" Inara asked, clearly remembering the guy. The nice guy.
"Yes, her brother. His name is Ramish. We already know about his family through Zulaid. They are nice people. Ramish works at a Telecom company. He is a nice man. Your father and I like him. What do you say?" Farida told her happily.
"I don't know" She remembered the guy from the engagement. Zulaid's family had gone to Azwa's for a simple ring ceremony. Inara met Ramish for the first time. Inara remembered their conversation.
"Why did they ask for my hand when Zoi bhai and Azwa are going to get married?" She inquired.
"Because they want to do both weddings together" Farida explained.
"Why did they ask for me Mama?" She wasn't expecting it at all. They were just Azwa's family for her. She never thought they would think about her in such a way.
"Of course because they liked you beta. Zulaid was saying Ramish is himself interested in this proposal" Farida smiled at her innocence.
He likes me. Inara saw her silently.
"Take your time beta. Think about it. There is no hurry. We will also decide after making ourselves sure that he is the right one for you. No need to overthink!" Farida patted her cheek.
In the night, Inara opened the pictures of Zulaid's engagement that Hamad shared in the group. Her eyes were fixed at a man sitting next to Zulaid in a picture. He was smiling. It felt like he was staring at her through the picture.
He is handsome.
He is sweet.
He likes me.
Pagal ny kia dekh lia mujh main. Inara smiled to herself, hiding her face in the pillow.
(What did he see in me)
Inara's family took their time to decide and gave a positive response to Azwa's family after a week. It was decided that both weddings would take place after two months. Both families started preparing for the wedding.
Inara was feeling sad these days. She was praying to have a blissful life. She was becoming soft with each passing day. Tears would come in her eyes just on the thought of leaving her parents and this beautiful family. Maybe everyone goes through such emotions at this stage of life.
She was lost in her thoughts when she heard footsteps near her.
"Azwa! I think the patient isn't giving the correct history. I have to discuss this case with Dr. Rehman" He was talking to Dr. Azwa.
"Okay! Send me the reports. I will have a look. Okay. Allah Hafiz!" He turned the phone down and saw Inara sitting on the steps in the backyard.
"What are you doing here?" He walked near her.
"Football khel rahi hoon" She muttered.
(Playing football)
"Badtameez" He said.
"Why did you ask then?" She asked in a low voice. Her voice wasn't cheery as always. She looked sad.
"Why can't I ask anyway?" He minded.
"No!" She mumbled.
"Is everything alright?" He asked standing near her. He had realized that she was stressed out. At least, he could do for her by hearing her issues. He had free time so he gladly sat next to her leaving a noticeable place between them.
"Are you happy?" She looked at his face. He was looking the same as always.
"Why?" He inquired.
"You are getting married" She made a point.
"Yes" He nodded.
"Are you satisfied?"
"Yes, I am satisfied because I find her a good match. She is mature enough to understand me" He explained briefly.
She wanted to ask him so badly that he loved her but she couldn't. They were frank to such a level. She could never ask him such a question.
"So, you aren't sad?" She asked him innocently.
"Why would I?" He asked shockingly.
"Because you are getting married" She gave the reason.
"So, getting married shouldn't be a reason to become sad" He shrugged his shoulders.
"But I am very sad" She told him.
"Why? Don't you like Ramish? He is a nice guy!" He commented.
"It's not like that. He is nice of course but I don't want to leave this house" She told him emotionally.
"Ohh" He understood what was bothering her.
"Don't be sad. You aren't leaving this house. It will always be yours. You are just going to make a new life. And you know you have to work hard now. You have to manage both work and home now. So prepare yourself for a bigger challenge"
"You just can't forget to mention the hospital" She laughed lightly.
"That's my work" He said plainly.
"Don't stress out. Everything will be alright and I will always be there for you. I want to advise you if you face any kind of injustice in your marriage. You have to speak up to us, especially me. I don't want you to be hurt" He patted her head softly.
Inara smiled sadly looking at his face. Finally, he was showing care for her like she always yearned. She always wanted to get his attention. She wanted him to care for her. It was happening now but it was too late. She would be leaving this house and they couldn't cherish this bond anymore.
But she was glad that he actually said that to her that he would always be there for her. Even if he wasn't there for her in the future. It wouldn't saddened her anymore because she was used to such behavior of him.
She wanted to forget the bad memories as she was moving on in her life.
...
Inara smiled looking at the message that popped up on her screen. It was from her fiance. They would just chat at night. Inara wasn't comfortable chatting the whole day. They were just talking to get along otherwise she wasn't much interested in doing it before marriage.
Ramish ð©ââ¤ï¸âð¨: Hy dear! How are you?
Inara: I am good. What about you?
Ramishð©ââ¤ï¸âð¨: I am fine. What were you doing?"
Inara: Nothing. Just casually talking with family. What are you doing?
Ramishð©ââ¤ï¸âð¨: Just got done with office work. I had a very bad day today at the office. How was yours?
Inara: Why? Did something happen? Mine was fine.
Ramishð©ââ¤ï¸âð¨: Had an argument with a colleague.
Inara: Ohh! I hope you aren't upset.
Ramishð©ââ¤ï¸âð¨: Nothing serious. Did you see the dresses Azwa sent you?
Inara: Yes!
Ramishð©ââ¤ï¸âð¨: Which one did you like?
Inara: Tea pink.
Ramishð©ââ¤ï¸âð¨: I personally also liked that. I thought how pretty you will look in that dress.
Inara: hehe! Thank you.
Ramishð©ââ¤ï¸âð¨: No need to say thanks. If you allow me I can say much more than this.
Inara: Not needed.
Ramishð©ââ¤ï¸âð¨: As you say ma'am! Have sweet dreams about me. Goodnightâ¤ï¸
Inara: I won'tð
Goodnightâ¤ï¸
Ramishð©ââ¤ï¸âð¨: I got itâ¤ï¸â¤ï¸
Inara chuckled lightly at his messages. He was so sweet to her. She never thought she would get someone so nice and genuine. They hadn't met outside yet because she wasn't interested and he understood it. They had developed an understanding between them.
Just a few weeks were left and they would be together. She closed her eyes thinking about the future.
She believed life would be happier with him.
