"Dr. Inara! Why are you fixed at the door. Didn't I ask you to get the patient's file. Go to the reception, get the file and reach her bed in 2 minutes" The PG asked her strictly.
"Fazila Muneeb" She walked to the reception glaring at the two people she hated at the moment. She said to the receptionist but her eyes weren't at her.
Zulaid quickly averted his gaze from her and cleared his throat awkwardly. Not glancing at her again, he rose up from the chair.
"I have a lecture at 1pm. We will discuss it later at 2pm in my office!" He announced to Azwa and just left the ward.
"Sure Sir!" Azwa nodded at him and averted her attention to the girl standing at the reception.
Her hands were covered in henna. Even in slight make up and a simple pink and skin shalwar qameez, she looked different from usual. She had all the glow of a newly wedded bride.
"Hi! Inara" Azwa passed her a little smile.
"Bye" Inara gritted her teeth, snatched the file from the receptionist, making her shocked for not even doing anything and getting this treatment.
Besharam aurat. Zara haya nahi hy is main. Hi ki bachi ! Issy to dekh loon gi main. She was burning inside.
(Such a shameless woman. She has the audacity to talk to him. I will deal with her)
It was 4pm in the afternoon when Inara reached home with the driver. Her class timings were never in accordance with Zulaid's duty hours so they never traveled together. She used to travel with the driver.
The day was drastic. She was very tired. As she opened the door of her new room, she found him soundly sleeping. A scene appeared in the back of her head and she closed the door behind her with full force.
Zulaid was startled back to consciousness. He looked at her with sleep in his eyes. His hair was messy, fell on his forehead. Eyes red with sleep and tiredness. He looked different than usual. Like more handsome.
"Kiya afat a gai hy?" He muttered distastefully.
(What happened?)
She didn't reply to him. Threw her bag and books beside him on the bed. They landed on the bed with thud. Zulaid narrowed his eyes at her. His mind was still under sleep.
"Don't disturb me again!" He warned her.
"If you have any problem then just leave the room" She told him calmly, removing her lab coat and dupatta.
"It's my room" He reminded her rudely.
"Now, it's mine too" She replied in the same tone as his.
"I was sleeping and you just barged into the room like a mad woman. Try to be a little considerate of others" He said sleepily.
"Like you are considerate of others!" She spat.
"Behave yourself!" His voice was heavy under the effect of sleep.
"So, do you! What the hell was happening in the ward today?" She snapped at him.
Zulaid was fully awake now. It took just a second to realize what she was talking about. He was amazed to see such a reaction from her. She had been more vocal for the past few days than she ever had with him.
"Nothing was happening" He got out of the bed and reached her. "Why are you so mad?"
"What did you say to me that night. I will be a responsible husband blah blah! That's what you mean by being a responsible man. Flirting with your ex!" She didn't hold it inside.
"Shut up! I wasn't flirting with her. I was just discussing something with her" He cleared himself.
"She was laughing" She clenched her teeth.
"Yes, exactly, she was. I wasn't laughing with her. I can't control what she does but I wasn't doing anything wrong there" He told her, and stood close to her.
"The question is why were we so close to her?" She asked seriously.
"I wasn't. We were in the ward. Everyone was there. Stop overreacting!"
"Why did you refuse to marry her if you were going to be with her even after marrying me!" She had tears in her eyes with rage that was building inside of her.
"First of all she is my colleague. I just have a professional relationship with her. For that I have to talk to her. Even though I don't want to talk casually to her, my work circumstances don't allow me to do that. I was just talking to her not flirting.
Secondly, never show me this arrogance again. Next time mind your words when talking to me!!" He pointed his finger at her, warning her.
"Look who is talking about arrogance" She tried her best to not cry in front of him.
"This all happened with your will Inara! Why are you behaving like a brat now. If you didn't want any of it you could have said 'no" He didn't get her behavior.
"Yes. I willingly got married to you and you promised my father that you would take care of me. That's how you would take care of me by having a relationship with your ex at my back" She was letting out all of the insecurities.
"I have nothing to do with her. Stop calling her my ex again and again" He wasn't liking this word a bit.
"So, what is she? Your present, if not ex" She snapped.
"Tum pagal ho?" He irritated him to the next level.
(Are you mad?)
"You are mad, not that I am" She didn't even fear him a bit today.
"Shut up! Don't test my patience!" He snapped.
"Do you love her?" She asked calmly this time, looking straight into his eyes. She always wanted to know this. She needed to know it now, badly.
"What?" He was taken aback by her words.
"I didn't ask you a math question. I just asked a simple question do you love her?" She repeated her question, eyes fixed at his.
"I don't believe in love" He muttered.
She was not amazed at his response. She never believed that he actually loved Azwa because she knew him very well. He didn't have the ability to love someone. He was a different kind of man.
"So, what were you doing with her if you didn't love her?" She crossed her arms on her chest forgetting that she hadn't draped a dupatta around herself.
Zulaid wasn't in the state of mind to look somewhere else than her face which was red with anger.
"Love isn't necessary to marry someone. Love is just an illusion for immature people like you. I am a mature man. I don't need such an illusion. I was getting married to her because I thought she suits me. That's it!" His voice became louder at the end.
"Then, you should have married her because she is the same as you. You both are irritating!" She suggested.
"I didn't get married to her because she lied to me. Put me in the darkness. She broke my trust. I hate such people who lie to me. I don't need anyone like that in my life. I rejected her and got married to you with my own will. Does that get in your head?
I don't want to discuss any of this with you again. If you tried to take her name again and tried to accuse me of being unfaithful. I won't spare you Inara!
Or ziada zuban mat chilana dubara mere sath. Had hoti hy badtameezi ki" He blasted at her for once.
(Don't talk to me in such a way again. Enough of your ill-mannered behavior)
Had hoti hy badtameezi ki. She mimicked him going into the dressing room. She needed to calm her senses by taking a shower, but she didn't forget to close the door with a bang.
He banged his hand on the bed angrily. She disturbed his sleep and destroyed his mood. Never had anyone talked to him like that. She was the first one to do so and he couldn't even stop her.
Bachi god ly li hy main ny. Ab bhugto!
(I married a childish girl. Now I have to tolerate it)
