Ye Qian looked at me with a smile. âWhat got you so distracted?â
I smiled. âI suddenly thought of someone and wasnât paying attention.â
Gu Yan who stood beside Ye Qian, said disdainfully, âPlotting how to harm others again, I see!â
I looked at her with a puzzled expression. âAre you crazy?â
Gu Yan sneered. âYouâre the one whoâs crazy!â
I took a step forward but Mai Qi pulled me back. âSister Gu Yan, are you feeling better now?â
Gu Yan gave Mai Qi face and answered her politely, âMai Qi, you need to keep your eyes open when you make friends. You must stay away from bad influences like her!â
Mai Qiâs tone dropped. âSister Gu Yan, are you saying I need your approval to make friends?â
Ye Qian quickly said, âDonât mind her. Gu Yan is not in a good mood.â She quickly pulled Gu Yan away, âXiao Yan, letâs go have our meal. We shouldnât disturb Mai Qi and Nanxing anymore.â
Gu Yan though shoved Ye Qian back and she hissed at me. âWho are you to force Jing Tian to admit to the public that youâre his fiance? Do you know how much trouble youâve brought him? Do you want to get him killed? You have already caused so many troubles for the Nan Family and Jing Ning and now youâre coming for Jing Tian? Donât think that because youâve saved him back then, you can use it to leverage it over him! How shameless can you be?â
Ye Qian pulled her back. âGu Yan, thatâs enough.â
I looked at Gu Yan and smiled. âDo I hear jealousy? Who are you to complain on Jing Tianâs behalf? Who are you to Jing Tian? Even an ex-girlfriend would have more right to be jealous of me than you do.
âJing Tian has been avoiding you, did you not notice that? So donât jump to his defense! Plus who put the idea in your mind that I was forcing Jing Tian? He admitted that I am his fiance because he approves of me as his fiance. Do you think people can force Jing Tian to do things against his will? Miss Gu, Iâm sorry but that is how the cookie crumbles. He has chosen me over you, get over it!â I looked at her with a smug smile.
âYou, youâ¦â Gu Yan wanted to charge at me but Ye Qian stopped her. âNanxing, you shouldnât say things like that!â Ye Qian grumbled at me.
I chuckled. âMiss Ye, that was nothing. Iâve already given her enough face. It was she who provoked me. And why canât I say these things? Because Miss Gu canât bear to hear them?â
Gu Yanâs finger trembled as she pointed at me. âYou bitch! Iâm going to tear your mouth off!â
âTsk! Look at yourself. And you call yourself the young miss of the Gu Family. Youâre more like a street shrew.â I continued.
Ye Qian pulled on Gu Yan and apologized to Mai Qi. âMai Qi, you and Nanxing should head to your booth. Weâll be leaving.â
Gu Yan still wanted to say something but Ye Qian covered her mouth and dragged her away. Before Ye Qian left, she glanced at me. When she met my gaze, she immediately turned away but I caught the viciousness in her eyes.
Mai Qi looked at them and sighed. âNanxing, youâre a real troublemaker!â
I raised my brow. âWhy would you say that?â
Mai Qi looked at me. âI believe you have already offended all of my friends.â
I hugged her. âI already told you, those friends of yours are not my friends, they are my enemies.â Gu Yanâs appearance didnât affect my appetite, I enjoyed the meal happily.
Mai Qi shook her head. âNanxing, youâre a really special person.â
I glanced at her and swallowed the food in my mouth. âWhat do you mean by that? Iâm an especially big eater? An especially pretty person or especially annoying?ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Mai Qi laughed and almost choked. âNanxing, youâre especially cute.â
I made a face at her. âWhy thank you.â
Mai Qi sighed, âWhy do you like Jing Tian? You would be perfect for my big brother. Your special soul will be perfect for him.â
I halted. âYou have a big brother? How come I never heard you mention him before?â
She shrugged. âWhat is there to mention? After all, we need to keep a low profile anyway. Do you know how much I envy normal people like you?â
I smiled. Such was the life of the daughter of a government official.
She sighed. âI moved here to study so that I can go out on the street like a normal person. No one knows my real identity. At home, I have to be followed by a group of people wherever I go. Itâs so annoying.â
âThey are there to protect you,â I said.
She shook her head. âBut thereâs no danger to protect me from. Itâs kinda boring.â
âWhat? You want to get into danger?â
She pouted, âI have to use my motherâs surname and my movement is always confidential. I was homeschooled until high school. I didnât get sent outside of my home until after I needed to attend an international school. It was supposed to be my big move out but I was followed by a troop of nannies. Since I canât reveal my identity, itâs hard to make real friends.â
