I looked at Jing Tian in puzzlement.

Jing Tian avoided my gaze and focused on the terrain outside.

Tong Hui said cautiously, “Tong Zhuo, I’ve already grasped the characteristics of the Phoenix Blood. I avoided you previously because I was afraid you would stop me from doing the experiment. Now that the experiment has basic success, I won’t leave. I won’t leave even if you chase me away.”

Tong Zhuo sneered. “I don’t believe a single word you say.”

“Tong Zhuo, I’m your father. I’m your only family in this world. Believe me. As long as you can cure my illness, I’m willing to follow by your side for the rest of my life.” Tong Hui’s tone was very sincere.

Tong Zhuo merely snorted coldly. He shouted into the walkie-talkie, “Have you found them? Reply!”

A voice message came from the walkie-talkie. “Young master, Zone Five is empty!”

“Young Master, Zone Two is empty!”

“Young Master, Zone four is empty!”

“Young Master, someone is coming in from outside zone one!”

“Young Master, the signal in zone three has been cut off!”

Tong Zhuo and Tong Hui fell silent.

Jing Tian, on the other hand, heaved a sigh of relief.

I couldn’t help but ask him in a soft voice, “Are those our people?”

His index finger pressed against my lips, silencing me.

Footsteps were approaching us.

“Nanxing, I know you’re here. Listen to me. Come out immediately!” Tong Zhuo’s voice was full of hostility.

Am I stupid? Come out?

I curled my lips disdainfully.

“Nanxing, I’ll count to ten. If you don’t come out, I’ll kill someone every five minutes until you come out by yourself!”

I looked at Jing Tian in astonishment.

Jing Tian furrowed his brows deeply. He cautiously looked outside for a while before quickly withdrawing his gaze.

I looked at him nervously.

He didn’t look too well.

I couldn’t care less about it anymore. I couldn’t help but look outside. I suddenly froze.

There were more than ten people tied up in a row outside. Each of them had a gun pressed against their temples.

I closed my eyes.

Daisy, Vincent, the vice presidents, and their wives were among them.

Jing Tian pulled me back and pressed my head against his chest. He whispered in my ear, “Hold on a little longer. Wait a little longer. Qu Hao and Tong Le won’t leave us like this.”

However, I couldn’t let Daisy and Vincent die. I couldn’t let the others die too. They were innocent. Granted, this was all politics but I couldn’t let them die because of me.

I looked at Jing Tian.

Jing Tian looked at me. Finally, he sighed and nodded slightly.

He understood me. I didn’t need to say anything

I hugged him and tiptoed to give him a kiss on his chin. I patted his back, indicating that he shouldn’t move. Then, I rushed out.

Jing Tian grabbed me with a helpless expression. He grabbed my hand and strode out of the room.

I struggled with all my might, but I couldn’t shake him off. “We swore that we would never be separated again, no matter where we went or who we faced.”

Jing Tian led me out.

Tong Hui and Tong Zhuo showed satisfied smiles on their faces. “Nanxing, baby, I knew you wouldn’t let anyone die for you. Your temperament hasn’t changed at all. You’re still so responsible. Good job!”

“Hmph! She’s just a fool. This is the result of her kindness.” Tong Zhuo’s voice was indifferent, but his eyes never left us.

He pointed at Jing Tian hatefully. “Tell him to go. This is our family matter.”

I refused to give in. “Firstly, you and I aren’t a family, so there’s no family matter to talk about. Secondly, Jing Tian is my fiancé. We’re a family. We’ll never leave each other’s side!”
