Chapter 29: Final Chapter

Under a Million StarsWords: 12060

2 months later

Love. We're coming home tomorrow. Please pick me at the airport if you have time.

He sent the message and pocketed his phone. He wasn't really expecting Off to answer immediately since the latter told him he had a dinner meeting with a foreign investor.

It had been 2 months since they got back together and Off never failed to show his love for him despite them being apart.

During the two months that he was in Taiwan for the shoot, Off visited him a couple of times, surprising him almost every time.

There was even one night that he just came knocking on his room's door whilst bringing a huge bouquet of flowers.

There was also one time when he almost lost his mind when Off surprised him with a dinner date on top of Taiwan's highest building.

He grabbed the towel so he could take a quick shower. He was about to open the bathroom door when his phone rang.

He immediately rushed to grab his phone thinking it was Off but it was Jaylerr.

"Jay?"

Gun, where are you? P'Pardbee wants to change some parts in the last scene. Can you go back to our shooting site right now?

"Why? Is there anything he doesn't like?"

He wants to add some parts and he wants your opinion.

"Okay. I'm coming."

He turned off the call and grabbed his jacket. The filming site Jaylerr was referring to was a garden which was a 10-minute walk from the hotel they were staying at.

"P'?" he called out as soon as he arrived at the location.

He noticed that some crew and staff were still setting up the area.

"Oh, Gun!" It was P'Mook who answered.

"Hello, P'Mook. Jaylerr told me that we are re-shooting some parts. Where is P'Pardbee?"

"Oh, yeah. He wanted to add a scene in the final part. He feels like something was missing at the end so he wanted to include it. Come here."

He followed P'Mook to where their director was.

"Oh Gun. I'm adding a wedding scene in the finale. The previous version is kinda hanging so I'm adding this one."

"Okay, P'. What can I help you with?"

"We're lacking some members of the entourage so can you stand-in in this part? The actor that was supposed to be in this one had some family emergency so he had to go home."

"Okay, P'. Just tell me what I should do."

P'Mook then approached him and handed him a what seemed to be a suit.

"Change into this one first, Gun. We'll be shooting in awhile."

He nodded and proceeded to the changing area. He was the only one there so he changed immediately as he was thinking that everybody was already done preparing.

He was almost done changing in his dark blue suit when he received a chat message from Off.

From: Off

Just got home for the dinner meeting, love. How about you? How's work?

To: Off

We're just shooting an additional scene for the finale and then we're good to go. Take a rest naaa. I know you're tired. I love you jaaa.

"Gun, are you done changing?" P'Mook called out.

"Yes P'. Wait I'm coming out."

"Here let me fix your hair."

P'Mook then brushed his hair and powdered his face.

"Okay, you're ready," P'Mook said after pinning a boutonniere on his left chest.

"I'm just a stand-in, P'" he chuckled and straightened his suit.

"Tss. Even so, you have to look good."

P'Mook then grabbed him back to the shooting area.

The other artists were already lining up for the entourage. He scanned the area and marvelled at how the simple location turned into something spectacular.

Lights surrounded the area and the aisle was filled with different kinds of flowers. It looked like an actual wedding setup and he couldn't help but let out a smile at the thought of a garden wedding under the stars.

"Here. You wait here."

Quite confused as to why he was the last one in line, he still followed what he was told to do.

"Okay, we're starting! Artists please prepare!" their director called out through the megaphone.

He was fixing the collar of his suit when a music filled the air. He looked forward trying to see what was about to happen but his height didn't permit him.

The entourage then started walking. He cleared his throat and removed the stray hair from his face.

He stood properly waiting for his turn to walk when all of a sudden the other artists left their position and went to the side clearing the path for him. He was about to ask what was happening when somebody started singing.

Look at you tonight, so beautiful

I say it everytime, I hope you don't mind

'Cause you're truly beautiful

He gaped when he heard the voice of the one singing. Off was not in sight but he was sure it was him. He looked around to search for him but failed.

Take a walk with me

Allow me to hold your hand

I'll cherish every moment I spend with you

He clasped his hands unto his mouth when Off came into view, wearing the same suit as he was.

Would you believe me if I say

The stars has got something for you?

Would you believe me if I say

These little bright lights in the sky

They share the same thoughts as mine?

All these for you

All these for you

Something was telling him to move forward but his feet wouldn't budge. Tears were starting to well up in his eyes.

He then felt a touch in his arm and he saw his mother who handed him a bouquet of sunflowers.

"Let's go, son. Your husband is waiting."

That was when he realized that the most important people in their lives were among the crowd.

He chuckled when he saw Tay and New bickering while the former closed the first two buttons of New's shirt. Arm, who was standing beside them, just rolled his eyes at the two.

He gasped when he also saw Off's parents genuinely smiling at him.

He beamed at Mild who was cheering him on with her fist up in the air.

What's written in the stars tonight

I feel I wanna hold you so much

I can see letters in the stars align for you

From me only

Can you see what's on my mind?

These chains of letters are from my heart

There's nothing more that I can say to you

Believe me when I say

Oh, we are meant to be

The tears in his eyes wouldn't stop falling as he walked forward, his mother holding his arm.

If only you can know just exactly how I feel, oh

And no matter what goes on, you can always find me

Off winked at him and he let out a chuckle.

What's written in the stars tonight

I feel I wanna hold you so much

I can see letters in the stars align for you

From me only

He looked at his mother and smiled at her. He didn't know what tricks Off pulled to bring her there. As much as he remembered, Off didn't get the chance to meet here, not even when they were still together.

Can you see what's on my mind?

These chains of letters are from my heart

There's nothing more that I can say to you

Believe me when I say

That we are meant to be together

Off finished the song. It would take about 5 steps before he reached him but he stopped walking.

"Is there anything wrong, son?"

He bit his lips and just stared at Off. The entire area stilled as the song stopped and the people hushed.

"L-love?" Off called to him. "Is there anything wrong?"

He turned to his mom and smiled at her.

It seemed like his mom got what he wanted to say and proceeded to her seat.

He signalled one of their staff to hand him a mic.

"O-off," he started as he held the mic closely to his mouth.

"Yes, love?"

"There are approximately five steps until I reach you and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for five things."

He took one step forward and gripped the mic tighter.

"Thank you for treating my wounds on that one cold night. I guess that was when I fell in love with you without me realizing it."

He took a deep breath before taking another step.

"Thank you for taking me out that night and showing me the beauty there is in darkness."

Off wiped the side of his eyes and smiled at him.

He took his third step forward.

"Thank you being my fortress when times get rough and for being my savior when I needed one."

He took his fourth step forward. He smiled as he stood in front of Off, now with just a small distance between them.

"Thank you for helping me see my worth and for believing in me when I couldn't even have the courage to believe in myself."

He took his last step forward and he started sobbing the moment Off held out his hand.

"And lastly, thank you for still loving me after all these years."

He reached out for Off's hand and held it tightly.

Off wiped the tears on his face and touched his cheeks.

"I'll never get tired of loving and waiting for you, Gun. Never," Off whispered and placed a soft kiss on his lips.

_____

Gun chuckled as they both held out their hands up to the sky while lying on the hood of the car.

"See. Our hands look better with these rings on," Off held his hand.

He scooted closer and adjusted his head on Off's chest.

"How did you get to convince my mom though?" he asked as he had been so curious.

"I've been meeting her for years. She knows what happened between us. And actually, the surprising part is she and my mother are actually high school batch mates. And the more surprising part is they actually set us up. That was why my mother's so adamant in making us live together."

"Are you for real?"

"Yeah, I can't even believe it when she told me herself."

"How about your father? What did he say about you marrying me?"

"He's actually not against it. He even told me his best wishes for us."

Off snuggled him closer and kissed him on the cheeks.

"The stars look extra beautiful tonight," he muttered as he looked up the stars.

"Yeah, they do," Off whispered in his ear.

He turned to look at him only to find out that Off was looking at him the entire time.

"Thank you...for everything," he muttered and smiled at Off.

"Thank you, too...for accepting me again."

Off leaned closer and placed a soft kiss on his forehead and hugged him tighter.

_____

Off looked at his watch and quickened his pace. He was already late for his biology class, the one he was about to flunk.

His father didn't send him to school as a punishment for his failing grades so here he was now all sweaty and panting.

He was not supposed to fail that one subject, but he sort of became unmotivated when his teacher told him that his experiment barely made the mark.

He got agitated after all the effort and sleepless nights he invested in the experiment that he couldn't bare to accept his teacher's remarks.

He looked both ways as he was waited for the signal. He could have hailed a taxi but his father also cut off his allowance and now he had to spend his money wisely as he was saving up for the PlayStation he had always wanted.

He was readying himself to cross the road when a short guy pushed him from the back.

"Hey! Watch it!" he glowered at the short man.

"Oh I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."

He looked at the guy from head to toe..He barely reached his eyes but what caught his eyes was the guy's red plump lips.

"Tssss."

The pedestrian signal turned green so he didn't waste time talking to the guy.

He left him and started crossing the road but something told him to look back.

He furrowed his eyebrows when he noticed the guy was looking both sides as if he was checking for any cars when in fact they had all stopped.

He heaved a huge sigh and started walking back.

"Tsss. Don't tell me you're afraid of crossing the street," he exclaimed and grabbed his hand, dragging him towards the other side of the road.

"Thank you," the short guy muttered once they crossed the road.

"Tss. Never have I seen someone who's afraid of crossing the street. I've got to go. I'm already late for class."

He then started jogging towards their school, quickening his pace as he glanced at his wristwatch.

Then a realization hit him. He slowed down and looked back at the guy who was already walking towards the other way.

"Since when did you hold other people's hand, Off?" he muttered while looking at his own hand, his heart beating fast, and he was sure it wasn't because he was running.
