Ellinor looked calm, not angry. She was just a bit downcast as she asked, âDid he mention when heâd be back from the business trip?â Belinda shook her head. âTheo didnât say specifically. He just asked me to stay with you until he comes back, to prevent Veronica from getting on your nerves.â
Ellinor responded with a faint âOh.â
At that moment, Veronicaâs slightly irked voice rang out, âWho would annoy her? Iâve already accepted her wholeheartedly.â
After hearing Veronicaâs voice, Ellinor and Belinda turned their heads towards the door.
There stood Veronica, with her hands on her hips, looking quite miffed as she walked in, âMy brother is so overprotective. He treats me like a villain; he even brought a stranger here!â
Belinda glanced at her and said, âMaybe you should reflect on your past behavior so you can understand why Theo feels like he needs to guard against you more than villains?â
Stung by Belindaâs words, Veronica recalled her past actions towards Ellinor and fell silent.
Ellinor noticed the tension between the two and decided to break it up, âIs there anything to eat? Iâm hungry.â
Belinda and Veronica both replied in unison, âYes!â
After speaking simultaneously, they glared at each other. Then Belinda said, âEllinor, my mom made some soup and nutritious dishes for you this morning. I brought them! Let me get them for you.â
After saying this, Belinda went to fetch the containers.
Taking advantage of this, Veronica came forward with a container her grandma had sent, âEllinor, this is the breakfast that my grandma asked me to bring for you! You eat this! Donât eat food from strangers!â
Ellinor fell silent.
Belinda came back and pushed Veronica aside with her body, âWho are you calling a stranger? Iâm the one Theo assigned to look after Ellinor! Theo even specifically told me that unless necessary, youâre not allowed near Ellinor! Veronica, you better know your place; donât make me report this to Theo!â
Veronica put down the container and said discontentedly, âBelinda, youâre not a Blanchet, right? Whatâs wrong with calling you a stranger? Even if my brother said I couldnât get close to Ellinor, whatâs the big deal? Iâm here on behalf of my grandma to visit Ellinor and bring her breakfast! Who are you to stop Ellinor from eating the breakfast that my grandma had prepared?â
Belinda sneered, âBecause the Blanchet family gave me full authority to take care of Ellinor! You can leave the breakfast Marissa had you bring, but you should leave; donât bother me and Ellinor here!â
Veronica sneered back, âBelinda, not to mention anything else, according to seniority, Iâm your aunt! Is this how you talk to elders in the Wesley family?â
Belinda gritted her teeth, âYouâ¦â
Now that Belinda was speechless, Veronica felt victorious, and she tilted her chin up at her, âCome on!
Call me âaunt,â let me hear it.â
Belinda glared at Veronica as her face turned red in anger. She was absolutely fuming!
She really couldnât accept that she was of a lower generation than Veronica. Ah, it was so infuriating!
Ellinor was about to mediate when another maleâs elegant voice rang out.
âMs. Blanchet is quite eloquent. Youâre so young, and yet you make others call you âaunt.â Arenât you afraid that would make you appear old?â Belinda was taken aback by the manâs voice. She turned her head to look, and her heart skipped a beat.
Veronica frowned. She looked towards the intruder, only to see a very handsome man walking in with a flirtatious smile on his face.
