Well, no wonder she recognized the things in the hands of those guys following Devin. They looked like airport security equipment.
âDevin, is this really necessary? They are Ellinorâs friends; they are not bad people!â
Devin insisted, âMs. Wesley, itâs Mr. Blanchetâs order before he left. Anyone who comes to see Mrs.
Blanchet needs to go through security checks. Weâre just following orders.â
Feeling helpless, Belinda replied. âOkay then, let me talk to my two friends and see if they can accept this.â
Devin showed respect, âAlright.â
Belinda felt it was a bit too much to do security checks at the front door. She wondered if Mr. Larios and Ms. Gipson would accept this kind of treatment.
As she walked over to explain, Chase spoke first, âItâs fine; we can go through the security checks.â
Somewhat surprised, Belinda asked, âMr. Larios, donât you and Ms. Gipson feel offended?â
Chase smiled, âMr. Blanchet is doing this for Ellinorâs safety; why shouldnât we accept it?â
Feeling awkward, Belinda said, âAs long as you guys donât mind. It wasnât like this before. Itâs probably because Ellinor is pregnant and Theo is overly worried.â
âItâs fine; tell them they can check us.â
âAlright, Iâll let them know.â
After Belinda informed Devin, he instructed his men to conduct thorough security checks on Chase and Ida and refused their gifts.
âIâm sorry, but Mr. Blanchet is concerned about Mrs. Blanchetâs health and doesnât allow her to eat food bought outside. Your kindness is appreciated, but the gifts canât be brought in.â
Chase smiled, âOkay, we understand. Mr. Blanchet really cares about his wife.â
Devin didnât seem to catch the sarcasm in Chaseâs words. After the security checks, they all entered the courtyard.
The Blanchet villaâs living room was spacious and bright, with a few waiting servants and no one else.
After inviting them to sit, Devin politely said, âPlease wait here; Mrs. Blanchet will come shortly.â
Then he went upstairs to get Mrs. Blanchet.
Obviously, he hadnât asked for Ellinorâs permission before they arrived.
About five minutes later, Ellinor slowly came down the stairs.
She was wearing a housecoat, and her hair was casually tied in a ponytail, looking a bit tired.
Accompanying her was a child.
After seeing Chase and Ida, Ellinorâs expression remained calm, not making eye contact with them.
Belinda stood up, excitedly walked over, and complained, âEllinor, your house is like Fort Knox now!
We have to go through security checks just to get in, and our gifts arenât even allowed in. Itâs stricter than airport security!â
Ellinor responded with a faint smile, âArenât these all your kind-hearted uncleâs requests?â
Belinda gave a bitter smile, âTheo is indeed being a bit over the top. But heâs doing this for your and the babyâs safety. Heâs abroad and canât be with you, so of course heâs worried.â
Ellinor gave a sarcastic smile but said nothing.
Then she sat down on the sofa with Baber, casually looked at Chase and Ida, and asked, âWhat brings you two here?â
Upon seeing Ellinor safe and sound, Chase and Ida felt relieved, but they could clearly feel the tense atmosphere in the Blanchet Villa.
