She turned her head, looked at Theoâs angry face, and cautiously asked, âWhat will you do if Ellinor really doesnât care about you anymore?â
Theoâs jaw tightened; he didnât say a word and just started the car.
After seeing his reaction, Sophia figured that there might be no chance left between him and Ellinor, the only link left between them would be the child in Ellinorâs belly.
So she let out a sigh of concern. âTheo, if itâs really not working out, donât force it! From todayâs interaction, I also felt that Ellinor is a bit hard-headed.
Iâm not saying Ellinor is bad, itâs just that she doesnât seem right for you. You guys being together might just wear each other out.â
After taking a turn, Theo replied, in his low voice. âSheâs still young and a bit childish, so Iâll apologize on her behalf for today. If todayâs incident has hurt you, Iâll have someone take you to a plastic surgery hospital and provide you with ample compensation.â
Sophia was taken aback. âTheo, what are you talking about compensation for? Weâve been friends for years; it doesnât have to be like this! And I didnât think much of this little injury on my forehead.â
Theo gave her a brief acknowledgment and just focused on driving, not saying much else.
But Sophia didnât plan on stopping there; she tentatively asked, âTheo, if you think Ellinor doesnât care about you anymore, why are you still apologizing for her?â Sophia had known this man for over a decade, and she had never seen him apologize before.
Now he apologized for another woman?
This shocked Sophia.
Without thinking too much, Theo just sighed and said, âEllinor is the wife I chose; if I donât take responsibility for the problems she causes, who will?â Sophia was very surprised, feeling both envy and a bit of jealousy.
Even under these circumstances, Theo still considered himself Ellinorâs husband?
Sophia managed a weak smile. âAh! Ellinor is really lucky to have a husband like you. Theo, youâre so good to her; she shouldnât leave you!â
Theo let out a cold laugh. âSheâs too heartless.â
Theo dropped Sophia back at her hotel, turned down her invitation to come up for a while, and drove off straight away.
In the afternoon, Belinda rummaged through all the food in the fridge and started to prepare dinner.
Since she was not leaving today, she decided to cook something nice for the pregnant Ellinor.
Chase followed her, grinning as he watched her in the kitchen.
âNeed a hand?â
Belinda didnât really want Chase to bother her here because she got nervous with Chase around.
But she knew there was no way she could get Chase to leave. He wouldnât listen to her.
So it was best to just try and ignore him.
âI donât need any help; just donât mess things up!â
Although Chase was not perfect, he did understand some basic etiquette. He knew leaving a guest to cook alone was impolite. So he rolled up his sleeves and went over to the sink. âIâm not much of a cook, so I can only help you wash the veggies.â
Belinda gave him a surprised look and then nodded. She stepped back a bit, leaving the task of washing the vegetables to Chase while she went to prepare other things.
Actually, Belinda wasnât much of a cook either. She only signed up for a cooking class to impress Chase.
