Their eyes met; they were so close that they could almost touch.

With that he leaned in, his breath fanning her plump lips.

Belinda got home, freshened up, and then had her driver take her out again.

After arriving at the base of the Crescent Society building, she checked the time and saw that it was still early for lunch.

She wanted to go in and wait but she stopped in her tracks.

She thought about how she might run into Chase in the company lobby if she waited for Jacob inside, so she decided to wait in the coffee shop across the street.

She ordered a latte in the coffee shop and texted Jacob to tell him she was waiting for him downstairs and to take his time.

Belinda’s mind went blank as she sat by the window, looking at the street view outside.

But a message ruined her tranquility.

Her phone buzzed. She thought it was Jacob replying, but when she opened it, it was a message from Chase.

“Are you up yet? I’ll be bringing lunch to the boss later. What do you want to eat? I’ll get it for you.”

After receiving this warm message from Chase, Belinda even imagined him asking her with a smile.

She was initially attracted to Chase for his gentle demeanor, and it was really hard to resist.

Belinda snapped back to reality and shook her head forcefully, reminding herself that she was waiting for her boyfriend, so she shouldn’t be thinking about other men.

She replied. “Thanks for the offer, but you don’t need to.”

After a while, Chase replied. “So you’re not eating anything? What will you do if you get too hungry?”

Belinda was annoyed, and she frowned. “Thanks for your concern, but I’m waiting for my boyfriend to have lunch together. I won’t starve.”

A minute later, Chase sent her a smiling emoji.

Belinda didn’t understand the meaning of the emoji and didn’t think too much about it.

But then her boyfriend Jacob sent her a message apologizing. “Belinda, I’m sorry! There’s an unexpected meeting at the company, and we’ll be having lunch during the meeting. Why don’t you go home, and I’ll come find you after work?”

When she saw Jacob’s message, she remembered the smiling emoji Chase had sent her.

An unexpected meeting?

This couldn’t be a coincidence!

She replied to Jacob calmly. “No problem; we can meet up after you finish work.”

Then, Belinda opened the chat with Chase. “You’re behind this, aren’t you?”

Chase sent a smiling emoji. “What did I do?”

“You planned the unexpected meeting and lunch during the meeting, didn’t you?”

“Yep! I just wanted to treat my lovely staff to something nice during the meeting! How’s that? Am a good boss or what?”

“You’re really crossing the line! You’re happy now that you’ve made me run around for nothing?”

“You won’t have run around for nothing.”

“Who says I won’t have? I hate you!”

As she was typing out her frustration, she heard someone pull up a chair and sit down across from her.
