She just stepped out of the room when she noticed that Bartlett had already gone ahead to open the door.
The door swung open, but no one came in, and no one spoke. Bartlett was visibly taken aback. He stood at the door, staring at the person outside.
Ellinor approached Bartlett, curious about who it might be. To her surprise, she saw Theo standing at the entrance. Why on earth would Theo be here?
Theo stood at the doorway, his gaze icy and somber. âGuess Iâve got bad timing, huh?â
His gaze made Ellinor uncomfortable. Then she realized she had just gotten out of the shower. Her hair was still wet, and she was wearing nothing but a loose bathrobe. Instinctively, she adjusted her robe, wrapping it tighter around herself.
But what made things even more awkward was that Bartlett had also just showered. He hadnât fully dressed yet, probably because he had rushed to answer the door. His pants were on, but his shirt was only half on, and the buttons were still undone, revealing his chest and abs.
So they looked like theyâd just been up to something.
Realizing this, Ellinor felt a little uneasy. She wanted to explain, but then thought, why bother?
Why should she explain anything to him? They were done!
Bartlett started buttoning up his shirt, chuckling to lighten the awkward atmosphere. âTheo, fancy seeing you here! Did you come to visit Ellinor too?â
Theoâs expression remained cold and emotionless. He said coldly. âAfter all these years, youâre still the same, enjoying other peopleâs leftovers.â
Ellinor felt a pang of anger, but she couldnât vent.
In his eyes, she was nothing more than a toy heâd discarded.
Bartlett didnât seem bothered; he just smiled and gently spoke to Ellinor. âItâs okay, Ellinor. Iâll have a chat with Theo. You go get dressed.â
Ellinor didnât want to face Theo like this. She nodded, turned, and headed back to her room to change.
But as she was about to close the door. Theo stopped it. He stood in her doorway, not letting her close the door, as his gaze fixed on her.
Caught off guard, Ellinor frowned. âThis is my bedroom! Get your hand off the door!â
Theo pushed his way in and locked the door before Bartlett could follow.
Outside, Bartlett pounded on the door. âTheo! What the hell are you doing? Stop bullying Ellinor!â
Theoâs imposing figure blocked the door, leaving no room for Ellinor to escape.
Ellinor was on edge; she retreated step by step. âTheo, what are you up to? You know itâs rude to barge into someoneâs room!â
Theo sneered. âIâve realized that I was too polite to you before. Thatâs why you never respected me!â
Ellinor fell a sense of danger she had never felt before, and she instinctively backed away.
Ellinorâs eyes trembled slightly. She bit her lip, refusing to retort and explain.
Why did she have to explain anything to him?
He treated her like a toy, so what right did he have to question her?
Ellinor pushed him away forcefully. âMr. Blanchet if you have something to say, spit it out!â
But no matter how hard she pushed, she couldnât move this tall, muscular man. But It seemed Theo had no intention of touching her further, so he let go, saying coldly, âI came to see my child. Is that not allowed?â
Ellinor instinctively covered her stomach, emphasizing how she felt. âIf you want a child, find someone else to have it. The child in my belly has nothing to do with you!
