Sophia stared at Bartlettâs profile for a while and then said appreciatively, âI really admire your attitude.
A lot of guys would be bothered by a womanâs past.â Bartlett just gave her a light smile. He didnât talk about himself but asked her, âWhat about you?â
Sophia was a little confused. âMe? What?â
âI mean, whatâs your opinion on Theo? He has a kid with another woman, but you donât seem to mind.
Because of Bartlettâs honesty, Sophia didnât hesitate to express her views. âTo be honest, I donât really mind. If necessary, Theo and I can raise the child together. I think my current situation with Theo is very compatible. Our personalities complement each other, and we both feel very comfortable when weâre together. Although Theo might still have feelings for Ellinor, their personalities donât match, they donât feel happy when theyâre together, and itâs not going to last.
So, I believe that Theo will eventually choose me.â
Bartlett turned his head to look at her while smiling sincerely. âI wish you the best.â
Sophia returned the smile. âI wish you the best too.â
They continued their journey until Bartlett saw a black car parked by the road.
He recognized the license plate; it belonged to the Blanchet family.
Bartlett parked his car, ran with Sophia to the black car, and knocked on the window.
The window slowly came down, revealing Theoâs cold profile.
Bartlett instinctively leaned in to look but didnât see Ellinor.
âTheo, whereâs Ellinor?â He asked.
Theo turned his head slightly as his cold eyes fixed on him. âWhy are you looking for her?â
âTheo, stop messing around. I saw you take her away on the surveillance video. Where is she now?â
Theo expressionlessly took out a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and spoke coldly after exhaling a puff of smoke. âSheâs gone.â
âGone? Where did she go?â Bartlett furrowed his brows in concern.
Theo, holding the cigarette, said, âShe just refused to let me drive her home and got out of the car. I have no idea where she went.â
Bartlett got a bit angry. âItâs so late; how could you let a pregnant woman get out of the car by herself?â
Theoâs eyebrows sharply rose. âAre you getting mad at me?â
Bartlett realized his mistake and took a deep breath. âIâm sorry, I was a bit impulsive just now. Ellinor is pregnant; we canât just leave her alone!â
Theo was still expressionless. âI didnât plan to leave her alone, but she didnât want to ride with me. If I hadnât let her go, she would have jumped out of the car. What do you think I should do? Let a pregnant woman go home by herself or let a pregnant woman jump out of the car?â
Bartlett was silent for a few seconds. âDid she get a cab after she got out?â
Theo exhaled a puff of smoke. âI didnât see.â
Bartlett realized he wouldnât get any information from Theo, so he stood up, looked around, but didnât see any familiar figures, and ran back to his own car. He planned to drive along the road to check. If he still couldnât find her, he would go to Ellinorâs home to see if she had returned.
In his haste, he didnât wait for Sophia.
Theo squinted slightly as he watched Bartlettâs car drive away quickly, but his cold face was still emotionless.
Sophia walked to the window. âTheo, I came here with Bartlett, but he seems to have forgotten me. I guess Iâll have to ride with you!â
