Upon hearing that the visitor wasnât Theo, Ellinorâs eyes dimmed a bit. âAlright, take her to the living room and tell her to wait for me. Let the kitchen know to prepare another lunch. Our guest might stay for a meal.â
âVery well, Ms. Mendoza.â The servant bowed respectfully before turning to execute the order.
Ellinor, along with Baber, headed back/inside to meet Belinda Wesley.
The moment she stepped into the living room, Belinda, lugging along a large suitcase, greeted her.
âHey, Auntie!â
Ellinor glanced at the suitcase at her feet and then at Belinda. âWhatâs all this? Are you moving or something?â
Belinda shook her head. âNah, itâs baby stuff I got for you. Arenât you about to pop?â
Ellinor smiled faintly at the suitcase. âIâve got everything I need already. Iâm all set and ready. That suitcase is massive. The hospital probably wonât have space for it. If you can return it, you probably should.â
She had already stocked up on all the baby essentials, and Balfour had also showered her with gifts.
Pouting, Belinda said, âActually, only the suitcase is from me. The stuff inside is all handpicked by my uncle himself.â
Ellinor was taken aback. âWhen did he find the time to shop?â
Belinda looked excited. âAfter he found you, during the days you were giving him the cold shoulder, he dragged me along to a few baby stores. He picked out only the best stuff. But because of what happened with Sophia, he thought you might not want his gifts, so he stashed them at my place first.
He planned to give them to you when youâre about to deliver, so you couldnât toss it out ahead of time.â
Ellinor felt a touch of warmth in her heart and nodded slightly. âAlright, Iâll keep it.â
Belinda beamed with satisfaction after hearing that Ellinor accepted the gifts. âYou wanted me to return it when you thought I bought it, but decided to keep it when you learned that my uncle was the one who bought it. Auntie, you really do like my uncle.â
Ellinorâs cheeks flushed. She had made up her mind to reconcile with Theo, so there was no point in pretending anymore. âYes! I have a love-hate relationship with your uncle.â
Belinda gave her a puzzled look. âWhat do you mean by love-hate?â
Ellinor shrugged. âYou know. When heâs not exactly your dream man, and some of his traits like his temper and actions can sometimes get on your nerves but you still choose to accept him.â
Belinda pondered for a moment and then asked, âSo, Uncle is not your dream man? Whatâs your ideal type then?â
Feeling a bit tired while standing, Ellinor sat down on the couch with Baber. âI used to be drawn to more gentle men. Not the dominant ones.â
Belinda sat next to her. âMy uncle is not the gentle type you described. Heâs more like a big bad wolf, and a dominant one at that. He really is far from your ideal type.â
Ellinor shrugged helplessly. âWell, we already have a child together, so I have no choice but to live with him.â
Belinda chuckled, knowing that when Ellinor said âlive with him,â it wasnât just in the literal sense.
Suddenly, she noticed something moving in Ellinorâs belly. Out of curiosity, she lightly placed her hand on Ellinorâs belly and felt the baby move.
