âEllinor, could it be possible that a mix-up happened at the daycare? Perhaps they accidentally dressed Adrian in another kidâs clothes, and we just failed to notice it until now?â
Veronica pondered out loud.
Ellinor contemplated it, agreeing that it was indeed a possibility.
âAlright, letâs go eat. We shouldnât keep Grandpa and Grandma waiting.â
âOkay.â Veronica nodded and extended her hand towards little Layla, who was quietly sitting by the bed. âCome on, Layla, letâs go eat.â
Layla, a tiny child, seemed to be lost in her thoughts. After hearing her aunt call her, she snapped back to reality, obediently hopped off the bed, and followed her aunt and mommy.
During dinner, Ellinor squinted at âAdrian, who was sitting next to Baber. Something seemed off.
âAdrianâ had forgotten how to use a fork and knife?
Her three children had always been ahead of their peers. They never needed much help when it came to using cutlery.
Yet at this moment, Adrianâ seemed to be having a mini-war with his utensils. He was unable to pick up any food.
This struck Ellinor as odd.
After watching âAdrianâ get frustrated and eventually resort to using his hands, Ellinor finally spoke up.
âAdrian, you canât just use your hands.â
âAdrianâ seemed oblivious to what she just said. He didnât even look up at Ellinor. He was too busy savoring the delicious ribs, which he found incredibly tasty.
Normally at home, he had never tasted anything like this before.
After her son ignored her, Ellinor started feeling a bit annoyed. She tapped âAdrianâsâ plate. âMommy is talking to you!â
Tristan finally realized the beautiful lady was talking to him. He looked at Ellinor puzzled, saying, âMommy, the meat is sweet. Itâs so yummy.â
After looking at her childâs adorable face, Ellinorâs annoyance quickly dissipated. She scolded him lovingly, âEven if itâs tasty, you canât just grab it with your hands. Look at your brother and sister. Theyâre using cutlery.â
Tristan glanced at his brother, Baber, sitting next to him and then at his little sister, Layla, sitting next to Mommy. They were indeed skillfully using their cutlery.
But he couldnât..
He wasnât used to using a knife and a fork at home. He had tried using the cutlery, but he just couldnât pick anything up.
Would the beautiful lady figure out that he was not her son?
He didnât want that.
He liked it here. He didnât want to leave.
The food was so tasty. He wished he could have such warm meals every day.
âMommy, I was just really hungry. I got a bit impatient and used my hands.â
Her little nephewâs cute and pitiful look tugged at Veronicaâs heartstrings. She couldnât help but speak up for him.
âLet it go, Ellinor. I think Adrian was just really hungry. He was so engrossed in kite watching when we were out that he barely ate anything. Since his hands are already dirty, we might as well let him continue eating like this. We can correct it next time.â
Ellinor remembered that Adrian barely ate anything when they were outside, and it was understandable if he was extremely hungry.
