Ida couldnât help but laugh at him. âCanât keep up the mature act, huh? Showing your true colors now?â
Instead of getting flustered as he usually did, Byran moved in closer, his voice almost a whisper as he said, âWhy would I pretend with you?â
Ida pushed his face away. âAlright! Letâs go! Letâs grab some food!â
Byran squinted his eyes. âAre you asking me out for a meal?â
Ida raised an eyebrow. âWhat else? Do you expect me to go with someone else?â
Byran smirked. âNow thatâs more like it! As a reward for your good sense, Iâll treat you to lunch today.â
Ida prodded his shoulder with her finger. âThen why are you still blocking my way?â
Only then did Byran move aside, giving het space to move.
After adjusting her attire, Ida headed towards the door, with Byran following her, hands in pockets.
As they walked out of the office, they bumped into Chase, who had come to find Ida. âWhatâs for lunch, Ida?â
Only after asking did he notice Byran following Ida, His expression changed to one of amusement. âOh!
Are you two heading out on a date?â
Ida rolled her eyes at him. âDo you want to join us?â
Chase smiled. âCan I? I wonât be a third wheel, right?â
Ida, understanding Chaseâs underlying meaning, dismissed it with a wave of her hand. âThe more, the merrier. Letâs go!â
Chase raised an eyebrow, but his gaze was aimed at Byran. âThen Iâll tag along for the free meal.â
Byranâs face showed a clear dislike for this development.
Feeling the tension, Chase decided to stir the pot a bit more. He sidled up to Ida, draping his arm over her shoulder. âSo, Ida, where are we eating?â
Ida replied nonchalantly, âIâm in the mood for some barbecue. Any objections?â
Before Chase could reply, Byran stepped between them. âNo objections here.â
Ida glanced at him, then focused back on her phone.
Chase stood to the side, suppressing his laughter. Playing the third wheel was quite entertaining.
As they stepped out of the elevator, Ida headed straight for the car.
Byran slowed his pace, stopping Chase. âWhatâs up with you? Why do you have to tag along?â
Chase feigned innocence. âIda invited me. Didnât you hear? Plus, when youâre not around, Ida and I often have lunch together. Whatâs the problem?â
Byran frowned. âI donât care about your regular lunches. Today, Iâm the host, and I donât want you tagging along.â
Chase clicked his tongue. âReally, Byran? Too cheap to cover my meal? Fine, Iâll pay for my own.â
He tried to move past Byran to join Ida in the car.
But Byran stopped him again. âItâs not about the money. Chase, instead of hanging out with us, why donât you check on Belinda? I was gone for three- years, and you still havenât won her back. Not up to the task, huh?â
On the mention of Belinda, Chaseâs expression faltered, and then he laughed self-derisively. âThanks for the concern, but I think I can handle my love life just fine.â
In the three years that Byran was away, he was in contact with Belinda, but there was no significant progress in their relationship.
