Belinda gave a slight smirk. She knew that Ellinor would be concerned about Theoâs safety, but she couldnât shake off the feeling of disappointment that came from being easily forgotten.
âStop worrying, you two,â Byran crossed his arms and said, âIsnât the wedding just around the corner?
Start getting ready! As for Theo, my brother and I got this. Weâll make sure heâs back safely!â
His good intentions were met with skeptical glances from Chase and Belinda.
Balfour was reliable, but Byran? Not so much. Instead of helping, thereâs a good chance heâd just mess things up.
Irritated by their obvious disdain, Byran exclaimed, âWhatâs with those looks, huh? Donât believe in my abilities?â
Neither Chase nor Belinda responded, simply turning their heads to look out the window.
Byran was left speechless.
Finally, Balfour, who had been silent all along, asked, âWhere are you all headed?â
Chase turned back and politely said, âMr. Howard, if itâs not too much trouble, could you drop us off at the bridal boutique downtown? Thanks.â
Belinda remained silent, her cheeks flushed.
âIâm going home,â said Ida.
Byran didnât say anything, but clearly intended to accompany Ida, though he didnât dare voice it out loud.
Balfour nodded, signaling the driver to drop them off at their respective destinations.
Since the Blanchet Villa was downtown, the driver first dropped off Chase and Belinda at the bridal boutique.
Next, he dropped off Ida at her apartment building.
After thanking Balfour politely, Ida got out of the car alone. Byran followed in silence.
âWhere do you think youâre going?â
The sound of Balfourâs voice froze Byran in his tracks. He turned around and gave a sheepish grin, âBro, Iâm just going to hang out at Idaâs place for a bit and then Iâll head home.â
Clearly, his excuse didnât convince Balfour.
âYouâre a grown man! You shouldnât be hanging out at a girlâs place! Come home with me!â
Byran frowned, âBro, you know Ida and I are dating! Whatâs wrong with visiting my girlfriend? Just because youâre single doesnât mean I canât spend time with my girlfriend!â
Balfourâs face darkened instantly, âWhat did you just say?â
âNo-nothing!â Byran quickly hopped off the car and ran after Ida.
Balfour was left speechless.
The driver turned to Balfour, âShould we go after Byran?â
Balfour pinched his brow, clearly annoyed. âLeave him be. Letâs go.â
âYes, sir, the driver replied.
Just as Ida was entering the elevator and the doors were closing, suddenly, Byran pried the doors open and squeezed in, grinning at her Ida was taken aback, âDid your brother let you get off the car?â
Byran shrugged, âNope! I escaped!â
Ida adjusted her glasses, playing along with his antics, âWhy arenât you going home? What are you doing here?â
