Ellinor was left completely confused, âFall from grace?â
Veronica crossed her arms and furrowed her brows. She leaned in closer and whispered, âEllinor, do you think Iâm blind? I can see what the marks on your neck are.â
Márks on her neck? Ellinor was still confused until Veronica used her phone to take a picture of her, letting her see the hickeys on her neck.
Ellinorâs face turned red in a split second. âUm⦠this isâ¦â
Veronica put her hands on her hips. âDonât lie to me! I know what this is! Ellinor, how could you and Byranâ¦â
Ellinor immediately retaliated with a playful punch. âNonsense! You know whatâs going on between him and me, right?â
Veronica, rubbing her aching head, realized it couldnât be Byran.
Byran was Ellinorâs brother. Then who could it be?
âEllinor, my brother is back! You said you would find a way to bring him home, didnât you? Now is not the time for you to be falling for someone else.â
Ellinor rubbed her temples, feeling slightly annoyed by Veronicaâs accusations. âItâs not what you think.
Go get ready for your date, and donât worry about me.â
She didnât have the heart to tell Veronica that she had seen her brother that morning. Even worse, the hickeys on her neck were his doing.
Veronica, with a heavy heart, began to plead for her brother. âEllinorâ¦â
Ellinor cut her off. âShut up! If you keep nagging, you wonât be going on your date today.â
Thinking of Moran, who was still waiting for her, Veronica hesitated for a moment but ultimately decided to go get ready.
After Veronica left, Layla approached Ellinor and tugged at her dress. âMommy, what did Aunt Veronica say to you?â
Ellinor snapped back to reality and looked down at her daughter. âNothing, darling. Letâs go inside.â
Layla pouted and opened her arms for a hug. âMommyâ¦â
Ellinor couldnât resist her daughterâs charm. She bent down to scoop her up while gently patting her back. âYes, Mommyâs here.â
Layla nestled her head on her motherâs shoulder as she mumbled, âMommy, I donât want to talk to Adrian anymore.â
Before Ellinor could respond, Adrian angrily huffed, âI donât want to talk to you either!â
Layla shot him a hateful glance. âHumph!â
Ellinor was caught between laughter and tears as she watched her two little ones bicker. âEnough! Are you two going to keep this up? You want to sever your sibling ties over such a small matter? Who taught you that?â
Layla pouted. âThatâs how they do it on TV. Mommy, why donât you just get rid of this Adrian and bring back the old one? I liked him; at least he wasnât mean to me.â
Adrian was not pleased. âMom, do you see? Sheâs always saying that Iâm not as good as others!â
Ellinor held Layla in one arm and took Adrianâs hand in the other. âYou two need to stop this! Adrian, you need to change your attitude when talking to your sister. Layla, you should not speak ill of your brother either, whether itâs this one or the one who was mistakenly brought back by me before. They are both your real brothers. We are a family, and soon you will meet again.â
Adrian hesitantly accepted. âOkay.â
