Tracy had reached her breaking point with him. âFine! See you in court then! Iâve been married to you for years and bore you a daughter! You think you can just toss me out without a penny?! I have evidence of your numerous infidelities on my phone! Youâre the one at fault, and weâll see how the court rules!â
Arnold was furious, and he pointed at her furiously. âYou greedy woman, youâ¦â
Tracy laughed heartily. âGreedy? As if youâre one to talk!â
âYouâ¦â
Sheila couldnât believe it had come to this. She stood up to mediate between her parents, but they only started squabbling more heatedly.
Back at the church, the reception was just starting.
Ida and Veronica had settled the three children and had saved a seat for Ellinor.
Ellinor sat down, trying to calm her nerves.
All three little ones were eyeing their mommy.
âMommy, did you go out?â Baber asked.
Adrian also asked, âMommy, where did you go?â
Layla also chimed in. âMommy, why are you just getting back?âBooks Chapters Are Daily Updated Join & Stay Updated For All Books Updatesâ¦
Ellinor was still trying to compose herself. She was not really in the mood to explain her recent departure to meet their grandmother.
In a room full of chattering people, Ellinor brushed off the childrenâs questions.
The three little ones, understanding their mom was not in the mood, didnât press the issue.
But Veronica, always the curious one, leaned in close and whispered, âEllinor, I heard from Belinda that Sophia showed up earlier. Did you go deal with her?â
Ellinor glanced at Veronica. âShe did come, but I didnât go to deal with her. Nowâs not the time.â
Veronica frowned. âThen where did you go, Ellinor? You missed part of the reception.â
Knowing Veronicaâs persistent nature, Ellinor patted her cheek. âWe can talk later.â
The impatient Veronica wanted to know now and was about to say something.
But Ellinor threw a curve ball to change the subject. âVeronica, have you noticed a man selling balloons around our house lately?â
Veronica paused, then nodded. âIâve seen him a few times. Why, Ellinor?â
Ellinor narrowed her eyes. âBe careful of him. Donât let the kids approach him or buy balloons. There have been a lot of child abductions lately. We need to be careful.â
Veronica agreed. âI thought he was strange too. There are never any vendors in our area. But donât worry too much, Ellinor. No one would dare kidnap any Blanchet child!â
Ellinor gave her a wry smile. âHmm. Your brother, a grown man, was kidnapped. And youâre still so confident? Be careful!â
Veronica was taken aback. âOh right⦠Okay, Ellinor, Iâll be careful. Iâll also inform the staff at home.â
âGood.â
After the wedding reception, the close friends teased the bride and groom until late.
By the time they got back to the Blanchet Villa, it was nearly midnight.
