Her complexion, her eyes, her posture every bit of her was a testament to the curiosity she felt for the man before her.
The girl wanted to draw closer but was also wary.
âSo, what about you? Whatâs your name?â
She heard the foreigner speak, his English tinged with an accent that surprisingly had the smooth cadence of a native speaker.
Who could have taught him?
âDonât tell me youâre a phony?â she prodded, but took three steps back:
David wasnât offended. Instead, he explained earnestly, âIâve been teaching in this country for three years. This is my first time visiting this city. Iâm not a phony. Iâm really a foreigner.â
Cedric arrived just as the fourth scene was starting, and his eyes were fixed on Giselle with a winner-
takes-all glare.
He couldnât believe his luck. He was about to capture behind-the-scenes footage of Coltonâs new movie!
With Coltonâs name attached, this was bound to go viral.
âHey, whatâs wrong with the script? It doesnât make sense in the following scenes!â
Someone finally noticed the tampered script and brought it to Ivy, who was resting and sipping water.
âWe havenât made any backups, Ivy, and youâre on soon. What are we going to do? The director will find out!â
The crew member was on the verge of tears. What a jinx! Who thought it was funny to mix inspirational movie lines with hefty historic drama dialogues?
âItâs fine.â Ivy started to reassure but was called away before she could finish.
âScene four, take one. Letâs nail this in one shot. Ready, and action!â
Savvy Cedric had already captured all the earlier material. No wonder Giselle insisted he come â the real show was waiting right here for him.
âWould you like to walk with me? I could show you around the town I grew up in.â
The shy yet bold country girl extended her hand to a total stranger, a young man she had never met before.
The girlâs mother always said her child was a foolhardy one, but she never imagined her daughter would make such a ârecklessâ move one day.
David didnât take her hand, knowing that for girls around here, holding hands wasnât the proper manner of friendliness.
âIâd be happy to walk with you, Valor.â he complimented.
At his frank praise, she blushed uncontrollably.
Maintaining a shoulderâs distance, they walked through the places of her childhood.
They strolled along the beach, passed the old dilapidated kindergarten, and by the soup joint she never missed for breakfast, they stopped at where she lived.
âYou live here?â
David eyed the alley before them. Itâs narrow and long, with cobblestones at the entrance etched with the passage of time. Valor was puzzled. How did he know itâs where she lived?
âAh, an old friend once told me that these alleys are iconic to this city. Most locals live here, so my first guess was that youâd live here, too.â
âCUT-Perfect!â
âThatâs a wrap for today, folks. Our leading lady has once again graced us with a stellar performance.
Letâs give Ivy a round of applause!â
