These kidnappers were so brazen they didnât even bother to blindfold Elton. That alone. was a chilling sign-they clearly had no intention of letting him walk out alive. Realizing this only deepened Eltonâs worry.
He was thrown into a room with Balfour and Victoria. When he caught sight of hist daughter, safe and sound, he lunged towards her.
âVictoria!â
At first, Victoria, slumped in despair, thought she was hallucinating her fatherâs voice. She straightened up, straining to listen.
âAm I going crazy, or did I just hear my dad?â she murmured to herself. Balfour, however, confirmed her hopes.
âYouâre not hearing things. Your dadâs really here.â
âVictoria.â Elton called again, and this time Victoriaâs eyes welled up with tears.
âDad, how did you get here? Are you going to get us out?â
The other kidnappers, overhearing this heartfelt reunion, chuckled at the doorway.
âFeeling shy now, are we? Your dadâs just come to keep you company. You both might as well get comfy in this dump!â
As the door clicked shut, silence fell over the room again.
âDad, how did you end up here? Whatâs going on?â Victoria asked, her eyes still covered, unable to pinpoint Eltonâs location, her gaze following his voice.
âSweetheart, tell me how you are first. Did they hurt you?â Elton asked, his voice filled with concern.
Victoria shook her head. âBalfour took the hits for me whenever they tried to rough me up.â
Elton quickly scanned Victoria, relieved to see her unharmed where her skin was exposed. If she said she was okay, he trusted she had been spared any serious harm, though clearly frightened.
He hoped his presence would at least bring some comfort to the kids, to alleviate the fear theyâd been drowning in.
âSo you must be Balfour,â Elton said. âThanks for watching over my girl. Your grandparents are moving heaven and earth to get you out, so donât worry. Theyâll have you home in no time.â
âWeâre classmates. If it wasnât for me, she wouldnât be in this mess,â Balfour replied, his Then sighten sitting haouth fie dinghite Ballke what angle dieding but none
