As the door clicked shut, silence fell over the room again.

“Dad, how did you end up here? What’s going on?” Victoria asked, her eyes still covered, unable to pinpoint Elton’s location, her gaze following his voice.

Elton quickly scanned Victoria, relieved to see her unharmed where her skin was exposed. If she said she was okay, he trusted she had been spared any serious harm, though clearly frightened.
