âNo one will find you pathetic if you donât, Dahlia. Youâre selling yourself short and youâre not even keeping your cool. Do you really think you can just run out there and see Nolan? Do think heâll even want to see you? And what would you say to him if he did? You need to get a grip and think this through before you go chasing after him!
What do you think has kept his heart in your hands all these years, huh? Itâs your kindness and thoughtfulness, isnât it? Youâve got all those memories together, and if you lose that too, then let me tell you, youâre really out of the game.â
Dahlia was stopped in her tracks. Her hand was trembling as she clutched her keys, and finally, the tears sheâd been holding back streamed down her cheeks, âSienna, have I just been spinning my wheels here? I left behind my career overseas, a world Iâd made my own, to come back for him, and now heâs gone and married someone else. I donât even know who she is. How could I be so useless?
Did he ever truly care about me, or was it all just in my head?â
Sienna quickly pulled her down onto the couch âYou canât think like that. Weâve all seen how Nolan treated you; he really did cherish you. I mean, come on, he hasnât missed a single one of your solo performances, not one, even with all the jet-setting. Even your biggest fan couldnât claim that! Just think if something had happened since you were back. And does he really have no other woman for this long?â
Dahlia bit her lip, âI can swear there was no big scene, but there was that one time I used him to get into the headlines⦠Iâm afraid he mightâve caught on to that. He had his legal team handle it without talking to me. I know him well and he must be furious. As for other women, no, there really hasnât been anyone.â
But then, Dahlia stopped short, and Sienna pressed, âIs there someone? You remember something, donât you?â
Dahliaâs face changed, âItâs that witch! Nolan has never complimented any other woman in front of me besides her.â
âDonât panic. Now that we have a target, we can figure out what to do next.â Sienna pressed, âWho is she? Whatâs her background?â
âItâs the same woman who mistakenly took the seat I saved for Nolan that one time. Turns out sheâs the heiress to the Tanner family. Itâs laughable, really. At first, I thought she was just naive, but then it hit me: from that first encounter to inviting Nolan to her gala, it was all her scheming.
We canât underestimate the cunning woman. Nolan thinks sheâs so innocent and forthright, someone really special. Men always fall for that kind of woman.â
Sienna seemed to ponder for a moment, âHave you thought about what youâll do if itâs really her?â
After a long pause, Dahlia suddenly heaved a sigh. She was covering her face and crying in sorrow.
âI canât tell you how many times Iâve dreamed of standing next to him in a wedding dress, and now someone else has beaten me to the punch. All my efforts during these years are now wiped out.â
But Sienna wasnât ready to give up hope, âDonât be too quick to despair. Shouldnât Nolanâs wedding be the talk of the town? Perhaps Iâm exaggerating and Iâm not fully understanding how those kinds of families handle weddings. But it just wouldnât be a rush job to send out a wedding announcement as if it was just to check off a task.â
