Patricia was sitting in her wheelchair with a smug grin plastered on her face Thank god, she and her brother Balfour happened to be at the same hospital as Theo was taking Ellinor for her prenatal checkup So she had given the obstetrician a heads-up, instructing him to fudge the lab results.
Otherwise, if Theo knew the baby in Ellinorâs belly was his, he would surely ditch her and Baber in a heartbeat.
Now, thinking that the baby was another manâs, Theo must see Ellinor as a loose woman, and he would surely drop her like a hot potato.
Huh! That despicable Ellinor! Did she think she could snatch Theo away from her again? Not a chance!
âPatricia, why are you all by yourself here?â
Haillieâs confused voice sounded from behind her.
Patricia spun her wheelchair around, flashing her best innocent smile.
âJust needed some fresh air; the ward was getting stuffy Howâs Balfour doing, Haillie?â
Upon mention of Balfourâs injury. Haillieâs face crumpled, âBalfourâs wounds are bandaged. The doc says itâs a minor fracture. He just needs some rest. Quinton is looking after him now.â
Patricia feigned worry, âI just hope thereâs no lasting damage. Who would have thought Theo would lay a hand on him, all because of Ellinorâ
Haillie gritted her teeth at the mention of Ellinor, âTheoâs always respected Balfour. He wouldnât have hit him if it werenât for whatever that tramp Ellinor told him The more she talked, the angrier she got. She felt like she could chop Ellinor into pieces with her bare hands.
Patricia, as always, played the victim, âEllinor really crossed the line this time. Sheâs gotten both Theo and Balfour hurt. I donât ever know how badly Theoâs injured or if heâs seen a doctor.â
Haillie huffed, âBut youâre injured too, Patricia! Your foot, remember? Itâs all because of that witch, Ellinor She shows up and all hell breaks loose. Itâs so annoying! Just wait, Iâll deal with her!
Watching Haillie practically foam at the mouth with hatred for Ellinor made Patricia smirk.
Perfect! It was just what she needed She wanted to let the idiotic Haillie handle Ellinor, so she wouldnât have to get her hands dirty and risk getting caught.
But thinking about what happened earlier at the Bagley familyâs home still made Patricia feel a pang of fear.
Before they came to the hospital, she was chatting with Balfour and Haillie in the guest room.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Before they could answer it, Theo kicked the door open.
He stormed in, grabbed Balfour by his collar, and punched him.
Balfour, completely blindsided, retaliated.
And then it was a full blown brawl, where both men were wounded and battered.
Despite the bad blood between the Blanchet and Howard families, they had always maintained a basic level of civility. This kind of disgraceful fight was unheard of.
The whole thing happened so fast that Patricia and Haillie were petrified. They had to call for Quinton to break up the fight.
Balfour wiped the blood from his mouth, seething with eyes full of contempt, âYou betrayed Patricia for a woman who left you, and now youâre hitting me? Have you lost your mind. Theo?â
Theoâs eyes were as cold as ice, âRemember this! No one touches Ellinor! If you so much as harm a hair on her head⦠you and the entire Howard family will pay!â
With that, Theo stood up, lazily adjusted his tie, rolled his neck, and, without another word, walked out.
Leaving a room full of stunned people and a battered Balfour behind.
Patricia had always known there was a place for Ellinor in Theoâs heart, but she didnât expect it to be so significant that he would lose all reason and fight for her.
Thatâs why Patricia was driven mad by jealousy and wanted to kill Ellinor.
She couldnât stand the thought of Ellinor still being alive!
