Theo coolly stared down Quinton, âIf youâve got any issues, you can send Balfour to find me at the Blanchetâs place. Now, clear the way!â
Quinton hesitated a moment, not wanting to make things worse between the two families by clashing with the Blanchets, especially considering Mr. Howardâs feelings for Patriciaâ¦
After weighing the situation, Quinton lifted his hand, signaling his men to back off.
Without showing any emotions, Theo carried Ellinor through the crowd, Patricia walking up to them, with a worried look over her face. âTheo, is Ellinor okay?â
Ellinor glanced at Patricia, genuinely impressed by her acting skills and quick thinking Just a moment ago, she was forcing her into surgery, and now she was pretending to care?
Did men fall for such women who pretended to be pitiful, thinking they were the ones most in need of sympathy?
Ellinor was ready to jump down from Theoâs arms, not wanting to interrupt the conversation between the two.
But Theo held her tightly, not letting her go.
He stared coldly at Patricia and said calmly, âMs. Howard, you once saved my life, and Iâm grateful for that. But I hope you understand that doesnât mean you can meddle in my personal affairs! Donât mistake my respect for you as a ticket to interfere with my marriage!â
Ellinor was surprised that Theo spoke to Patricia like that.
Patricia panicked, her eyes turned red, âTheo, youâve misunderstood me! Itâs not what you think⦠My brother forced Ellinor to come here, I was trying to stop him. If you donât believe me, ask Quintonâ¦â
Theo ignored her, carrying Ellinor past her and leaving.
Ellinor turned to look at Patricia crying behind her with a hint of disdain in her eyes.
Patricia was even more despicable than she thought, pushing the blame onto her loving brother when things went wrong, making herself out to be the innocent one. Her selfishness was astounding!
Sadly, most people couldnât see through her deceit, fooled by her act of innocence and kindness. Like Quinton, who was now comforting herâ¦.
Outside the hospital, Ellinor began to struggle, wanting to get down from Theoâs arms.
âMr. Blanchet, you can put me down now! I didnât have the surgery, I can walk by myself.â
Theo ignored her and continued to hold her tightly as he walkedâ¦.
Collin drove the car up to them, quickly got out to open the door, and Theo carried Ellinor straight into the car.
The black car slowly left the hospital, Collin wisely raised the window partition, giving them some private space to talk.
In the car, Ellinor finally managed to pull away from Theoâs embrace, and she moved to one side to straighten out her wrinkled clothes, âMr. Blanchet, where are you planning to take me?â
Theo sat next to her, with elbow resting on the window edge, one hand on his foreheadâ¦
âWeâre not going anywhere, weâre just going to have a good talk in the carâ
His tone was cold, making it hard to guess his mood.
Ellinor didnât look at him, she just hugged her arms and watched the passing street scenes, âMr.
Blanchet, whatever you want to talk about, we can start now.â
âWhy did you agree to Balfourâs suggestion to have the surgery and abort the baby?â he asked her.
