Theo wrapped up his call, only to find Ellinor had walked in. âNot interested in the fireworks anymore?
Donât like them?*
Ellinor took a seat beside him, casually saying. âNo matter how beautiful the fireworks are, theyâre fleeting. Even the most stunning scenery can get tiresome after a while I donât feel like watching anymoreâ
Theo squinted at her and pulled her into his arms. âFeeling down? Why the pessimism?â
He had been on the phone for quite a while, and Ellinor was slightly upset. âDid the person who saved your life want something from you again?â
Theo told her honestly, âThe kid is sick. She asked me to come over.â
Ellinor scoffed, âThen why arenât you there yet?â
Noticing her imitation, Theo explained, âIâve already sent someone with a doctor. Iâm no medic, whatâs the point of me going?â
Ellinor retorted, âWho said you canât heal?â
Theo raised an eyebrow, âOh? What can I cure?â
Ellinor replied, âMs. Howardâs heartache! She gets better whenever she sees you.â
Realizing she was teasing, Theo stopped smiling, looked at her seriously, and held her tighter. He gently stroked her hair, âI know this is on me. But I promise, from now on, Iâll only ensure their safety and stay out of everything else.â
Ellinor leaned on his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat. She felt at ease and a bit sleepy.
She mumbled. âI have a question, and I want an honest answer.â
He gently rubbed her head and spoke in a soft tone, âSure, shoot.â
Ellinor held his rough, strong hand. âIn your heart, am Iâ¦â
âMs. Howard, when did you get here?â
Ellinorâs question was interrupted by the surprised voices of the servants of Pearl Moon.
She looked up to see Patricia rushing in with a sickly child, âTheo! Whereâs Theo?â
Ellinor was surprised, but not too much.
Patricia arrived earlier than she expected. What a surprise!
Pearl Moon was built by the Howard family, and the Howard mansion was not far from there.
Upon spotting Theo on the couch, Patricia hurried over with the child.
Theo Theo frowned to see her in such a panic, âDidnât I send a doctor? Why did you bring the sick kid here?ââ
Patricia helplessly explained, âI didnât want to, but Baber insisted on seeing you. He wouldnât accept treatment otherwise. Theo, lookâ¦..
As she spoke, she nudged the child in her arms forward.
Baber looked extremely pale, with a bandage wrapped around his head. He weakly reached out to Theo, âDaddy⦠I want Daddy to hold me.â
