Oh boy!
Patricia, what a performancel Patricia was always like this, never admitting her mistakes and always looking for loopholes.
Ellinor didnât argue with her. She took the gynecological report from Balfour, showed it to Patricia, and even tapped it lightly.
âMs. Howard, I want to ask, if this isnât your gynecological report, whereâs yours?â
Patricia was speechless for a moment, trying to think fast.
If she said it was in the pile of reports, Ellinor would surely check.
If she said she lost it, how could the gynecological report be exactly the one that she lost? That wouldnât add up.
After some thinking she came up with a less suspicious answer, âI never had a gynecological examination, so thereâs no report to start with!â
Ellinor smirked, âReally? Then why wouldnât you have a gynecological examination, Ms. Howard?â
Patricia gave Theo a pitiful look, then replied, âIâve had fertility issues since when I was young and trying to save someone. So, I donât need an examination. My doctor was sympathetic and didnât force me.â
It was hard not to feel sympathy for her.
However, Ellinor laughed, âMs. Howard, you sure can spin a taleâ
Patricia didnât think there was anything wrong with her story, so she frowned in anger and said, âEllinor, I didnât lie! Why do you always have to pick on me?â
Ellinor didnât argue with her. She just showed her the report again and pointed to the bottom, âMs Howard, do you see the number at the bottom?â
Patricia looked where Ellinor was pointing and saw the small number â4â She didnât think much of it at first, but then it hit her, and her face changed.
Ellinor smiled, âSurprised, Ms. Howard? This hospital numbers their reports! We just have to check if the fourth page is missing from the report you brought back, and weâll know if this is yours!â
Theo, like a personal assistant, walked over and picked up the report Balfour had left on the cabinet, causing his expression to turn serious.
Then, Theo returned to Ellinor and handed the report to Balfour, âHave a look?â
Balfour looked troubled as his temples throbbed. His sistersâ fighting was giving him a headache, and now he had to figure out who was lying.
He took the report from Theo, checked the page number, and indeed, the fourth page was missing.
Balfour was already disappointed in Patricia, and seeing the truth now made him feel like a fool He thought about how foolish and absurd his favoritism for her had been all these years and how absurd Patriciaâs lies were.
Balfour became calm. He handed the report to Patricia and spoke in a cold voice. âTake a good look for yourself.â
Patricia took it blankly but didnât open it to look.
