The Battle
Mariska and I were in a car going in the opposite direction to the one Alexander was in. I won't lie, I was scared. More so for him than for me. Devon's right, Alexander is hated here and everywhere else, how are we to know they won't turn against him?
I don't quite know when my feelings towards him got so deep. I can't even blame it solely on my wolf, I mean, sure I still feel stuff on her behalf but she's hidden. She can't make me do stuff. It's all me.
I marked him.
I rubbed my hand over my eyes, I can't believe I did that. There's no turning back anymore. I'm committed now. I kept my eyes closed and thought of Alexander, if he was okay.
My head jerked when I realised I wasn't in the car with Mariska but in another. In fact, this wasn't even a car. It was some metal room, I could see everyone I left behind and the Ignashevich brothers. I, holy, I was seeing through Alexander's eyes. I got his twin power!
I let out a little yip of joy and Mariska stared at me as if I had grown a second head.
I couldn't believe this was actually happening. I closed my eyes and focused on Alexander again. This time my vision was shakey. He must have been shouting. I remember Nathaniel said Abel could see and hear. So, I tried focusing harder.
Damon ran a hand through his hair as he tried to calm down his brother. He was whispering hard in his ear. His face showed true distaste.
"More men are coming! Do you think we're not serious about freeing our country. Oh, yeah that's right. You don't give a shit about our country only that mate of yours!" Devon yelled at Alexander.
"Damn right I only care about her! I couldn't give two shits if it weren't for Mariska tying Elijah's wolf to your damn situation!" Alexander fumed.
Just as was happening with the Ignashevich brothers, Abel went over to Alexander and tried to calm his brother down. Nathaniel and Axel were whispering among themselves as were the rest of the men who flew earlier with Elijah. (There's an explanation in the a/n)
I wondered, can't I speak to him? I mean, if I got his twin power. Didn't he get mine, or at least let me link him since I'm the one who marked him. I had to try, he's going to ruin everything before it even begins.
'Alexander?'
I couldn't link and see through his eyes just yet, I just discovered this. So, I'm not able to see or feel his reaction. Heck, I don't even know if this worked.
'I thought it was Xander now.' He linked back.
I jumped up in surprise. I thought he wouldn't be able to link back. Guess I was wrong.
'Stop fighting the Ignashevich brothers, please. They're our only hope.' I scolded.
'How do you know I'm fighting them?' I bet he raised a brow.
Rolling the eyes he cannot see I continue, 'I got your twin power, duh. How do you think you're linking me right now?'
'Well. I figured it was apart of the whole marking package. In case you've forgotten, I haven't had the privilege of marking my mate.' I let out a snicker. I could literally see his face in my mind, with all his Alexander Russo swagger.
'Oh, I'm deeply sorry. That must be a tragedy.' I giggled.
'You don't even know the half of it.' He replied.
Getting back to the point I say, 'Stop fighting them. And stop being cocky. And be careful, Xander. Unlike Axel, I want you alive, not dead.'
I then focused on the road, that we were still on. I didn't trust Mariska enough to tell her about my new abilities or the fact that I marked my mate.
In my books, that's pretty intimate so I'm definitely not telling her a thing. Looking out the window I watched the city pass by in a slight blur. We weren't going that fast so I could make out everything before me.
The streets were quiet, not many people out and about and not many cars on the road. I wondered if it had anything to do with living beneath the thumb of a tyrant.
I frowned as I realised we needed to win, we needed to take Ivan down. Dark Sword deserved their freedom.
I look over at Mariska, "How are we going to know that they've started the battle?"
I doubt someone's going to pause the battle just to text Mariska, so they must have some sort of signal or sound being sent out.
"When the canon sounds."
* * *
Once we had arrived at out destination far away from the fight but not too far for the magic to have to travel far to sync. We entered a warehouse, it wasn't as dodgey as the ones in action movies. This one was set up as if they had been anticipating this war.
They had planned it long before its time, gathering here to put the plan together. There were television screens everywhere. Some were rolling news footage, some CCTV footage of roads and highways and others were displaying the battle about to take place in Novosibirk.
"Is that footage being broadcast everywhere?" I asked, pointing at one screen.
That's when I heard the cannon go off. For a moment I was frozen. It sunk it, it's really happening. Alex, Abel, Axel, Nate, Aiah, Kyrie, Timothy along with Alex and Nate's best Warriors, with all the Ignashevich brothers' allies they were all swinging into action.
The war had begun.
I hadn't know Alex and Nate had a few of their best warriors flying behind us, obviously they were capable of keeping secrets too. I was glad they had though, we needed the extra wolves â we needed all the help we could get.
I left Nicholas and Elisha out of this. I couldn't live with myself, putting them in danger and me being safe. I already can't handle it with these nine. I couldn't do it with those two too. I'd go crazy, find a way onto the battlefield.
I know these men can handle themselves, Alex and Nate wouldn't have brought them along if they weren't confident they could do the job.
Now, I'm not saying I have no faith in my sister and best friend. Just that, I couldn't worry about so many important lives out there. As I have said countless times, I'm trying to minimise the casualties. This isn't exactly what I had in mind but it's still minimal, so I'm okay with it.
"No, it's only broadcasting over here. Sit down, we need to start. We're already late." Mariska said hurriedly.
She sat me down, "Just hold my hands and close your eyes. The words will come to you."
I did as I was told.
When my eyes closed I was once again able to see through Alexander's eyes.
'Alex. You're on the wrong side.' The man laughed.
'The wrong side? Am I to fight with you after you put my mate in a coma for a year and a half! Eighteen fucking months, Ivan.' Alexander killed off another wolf, getting him closer to Ivan.
The more steps he took, the more the wolves pounced on him but he wasn't afraid nor was he backing down. Alexander simply grabbed them by the neck and snapped, the darkness within him along with the spell of Mariska's was overpowering.
He was nearly invincible.
'Oh, that was all Mariska. That untamable witch. She does as she pleases. You know that.' He winked, taunting Alexander.
Ivan had no idea that his taunting would only enrage Alexander more, strengthening him.
'It was you order she was following though. Why would you even give her that task!?'
Ivan was standing in the middle of the field, the chaos around him never affecting him. His wolves making sure no one got close.
His black hair was still gelled back white strands on the side of his head pulled to the back with the rest. His dark eyes storming with anger although his face displayed excitement. His pale skin looking even paler with the snow around him.
'Alex. Not everyone is like you. There's not always a purpose to the cause.' Ivan shrugged, removing his jacket and tie.
Ivan's wolves were dying. He couldn't understand how these wolves, Alexander's wolves were over powering his right hand wolves. His actual Warriors that he trusts with his own life. It almost seemed like his life was now going to suffer for his stupidity.
He was now going to have to lift a finger, fight his own battle. Something he hasn't done in years.
He was scared.
He made sure his face showed power and hunger but deep within he was afraid. He knew Alexander killed off many men daily. He still had experience. He got joy from the thrill of ending a life. While Ivan just got joy from hearing that he's tyranny ruined lives daily. The two couldn't be put side by side.
Alexander killed off the last wolf in his way then charged right up to Ivan. He was ready to make him pay.
I don't know where it came from, maybe from the dark magic. Everyone did say it fed on the darker emotions. I felt a great deal of dark, disturbing thoughts about Ivan so that must be what the darkness was feeding on. Because suddenly my chanting grew quicker the Russian words tumbling out of my mouth, sounding utterly demonic.
I wanted him dead. I wanted him dead at the hands of my mate and there was no way I was going to fail in aiding my mate to do just that.

When Eli sees through Alexander's eyes, it's in the third person. (: that's solely for you. Eli obviously doesn't read all the other people's minds. Like when I talk about Ivan's fear. That's for you. She just sees and hears what Alex does. I hope its not too confusing.
