Chapter Nine: Updated and Edited 2025
"I'm Jacob Black... and I've been looking for you"
He looks at me and i look back at him, both of enamoured by each other, without even knowing who the other is.
"What's your name?" He breathes
"Katelynn Swan" I say
"So your Bella's sister, Charlies child?" He says and i nod "How come I've never seen you before, i mean except from when that wolf swiped at you..." He gently touches my cut "That must have hurt"
"I can't believe you've been right under my nose" I say in awe with a laugh and he chuckles
I look at him in the eyes for a moment before a buzz is heard.
I curse as i root in my pocket to find my phone.
"I have to go back to the others" I say "My sister, she will be worried if I don't get on the coach"
I place my phone away as i look at him once more, still not quite believing that he's in front of me.
"I'll see you later?" I breathe
"Yeah, i'll be sure to go around to Charlies more often" He chuckles
As i part ways with him and run back to join the others as they get onto the bus, I can't help but to feel on cloud nine.
"What's got you so happy?" Bella asks as i sit next to her, smiling.
"I met someone..."
"Who?!" Bella says as she adjusts the way she is facing me in her seat
"Jacob..."
"Who?" She asks, confused "No one in our biology class is called Jacob" She laughs
I simply turn  away from her with a shake of my head
"You need some sleep, your becoming as delusional as i thought i was when Edward stopped that car"
Maybe i would have responded if i had heard her, but with my mind elsewhere, anything she said flew over my head.

That afternoon, Bella and i walk into the dinning hall. She had continued to question me about Jacob on the coach ride back, but i had just been brushing off her questions, unsure how to answer them myself.
"Hey!! La Push baby!" Erik says suddenly as we sit down.
"What?" Bella asks
"La Push beach" I say as she looks at me and i look down "I've been there once or twice" I say
"We're all going tomorrow" Mike says
"You in?" Someone else asks
"Sure!" I say, knowing what's there and i smile, looking down as i think about it.
"What's got you so smiley K?" Tyler asks me "Maybe she's got a jock waiting for her over there"
I laugh, knowing that they have no idea that they are right.
"You coming, Bella?" Mike asks her
"If Kate is going then i guess i am" She says and i mouth a thank you to her.
She nods and stands up, going over to the salad bar and i look over as i see Edward talking to her.

After driving to La Push the next day, i sit in the car with Bella and Angela
"So, i keep thinking that Eriks going to ask me to prom, but he never does" Angela complains
"Well then you should ask him" I suggest, but she shakes her head at me.
"Hey will you do me up?" Jessica says as she comes over to Angela with her water suit open at the back.
"You going to surf?" I ask her as she turns around
"If it means getting to talk to those guys, absolutely" She says
I look up and i see Jacob and another three guys walking towards us.
"Who are they?" Angela asks
"I have no idea, but they are walking over" Jessica says as she flips her hair over her shoulder
I stand as the guys stop in front of us.
I smile as Jacob sees me.
"Kate" He says with an equally large smile.
He walks towards me and hugs me. I smile, not expecting it, but not complaining- i guess it is true what they say- i do instantly start to feel better as he holds me.
When we pull away he keeps his arm, protectively around my waist, as we face the others.
"Guys this is Jacob" I say with a smile
I chuckle as Angela and Jessica look at me with wide eyes.
"Bella, are you surfing?" Jessica suddenly says as she changes the subject, clearly not liking the attention not being on her.
"Absolutely not!" She says
"Come on!" I say "I've been trying to get her to say yes for ages!" I laugh
"Oh come on Bella, it's not that bad out there." Jacob says "I'll go with you two" He offers.
"I'm sorry, am i the only one that's confused here? Are you are Katelynn like together?" Jessica asks
"Is who together?" I hear asked behind us.
A few of us turn at the voices and we see Mike and a few others who just exited the ocean looking at Jacob, confused
"Guys this is Jacob" I introduce.
"You know when i said that you might have a jock down here waiting for you, you do realise that i was joking, right?" Tyler says and we all laugh.
"Just because you don't have someone waiting for you at the beach, Tyler, doesn't mean that we don't" Jessica says
The laughter trails off in the group at her words
"What is he, like your boyfriend or something?" Mike asks, changing the conversation
I start to grow a little irritated by the constant questions surrounding Jacob and i.
"He's something... " I say as he looks between Jacob and i.
"Hey, how about you guys carry on and i'll go take a walk with Jake?" I say, feeling like the conversation was trailing off and feeling a bit worried that Jessica was about to try to take a bite out of Jake.
Everyone nods, getting ready to go swimming anyway and Jacob and i walk into the forest.
