Chapter 185: ACCEPTED

Bella:

After a while of falling into the dark space, both Hazel and I hit solid ground with force, bruising our bodies slightly. We both let out chuckles that rumbled in the chilly night sky before getting to our feet. Dusting ourselves off, we took a look around to see that we were in the center of the cemetery-just as Hazel had planned.

The cold slapped against my skin, but I didn't hear the howling of wolves or anything strange, so my body remained calm.

"Now, all we have to do is pick ten bodies we want to turn back into normal humans. Then we resurrect them with a spell," she said, and I nodded at her words, following her without a clue.

After a while of walking, she pulled off her backpack, letting it fall to the ground, then took out a piece of chalk, breaking it in two.

"Here!" She tossed half the piece to me, then waved her hand to signal me to follow her.

We walked around marking the graves until we had chosen the ten we wanted-five males and five females, just like Sue had requested.

"What next?" I asked, and Hazel glanced at me, pulling out her book.

"Oh," I murmured, then watched her sit down on the grass, facing the graves we had marked.

"Come and sit with me. First, we have to pacify ourselves from any unclean spirits among them because spirits roam at midnight, but remember, they are not as vile as those of supernaturals," she said, and I nodded.

I sat beside her, and she sighed.

"You have to sit in front of me. We have to hold hands together because that's the only way I can protect you," she said, and I got up at once, sitting in front of her with my back against the graves.

The position I was in scared me, and I didn't care if they were human or not. A corpse suddenly finding its way out of the grave and grabbing me from behind would scare the hell out of me.

"Give me your hands." Hazel grabbed my hands at once, then she started chanting the spell, creating a protective bubble around the both of us.

After this, she let go of me, then opened her spell book. I was about to ask a question when I noticed her eyes had gone totally white. She was in her super witchy mode, so I shut my eyes.

As she continued with the spell, I felt a powerful surge of wind sweep through us, and then I heard growls coming from behind me. I knew the corpses were alive, so I didn't bother opening my eyes because that would scare me. I had to trust Hazel because she had never let me down.

My trust in her suddenly slipped when I heard one of them growl into my ears, and I felt a hand on my shoulder with something slimy dropping on it. This caused me to flip my eyes open at once, then I turned to see ten corpses in line. My mouth opened to release the loudest shout, but then the corpse, which had pale, decomposing skin, turned into a beautiful young lady with long black hair and the prettiest smile.

Her hands slipped off my shoulder at once, and she stood still. Then the protective bubble around us vanished, and Hazel's eyes returned to normal.

"Did anything out of the ordinary happen?" she asked, and I raised a brow at her.

"Sorry about that. I didn't intend it to be scary. You should know that whatever that penetrates into the protective bubble has been cleansed," she said, and I rolled my eyes as we got to our feet, looking at the array of beautiful humans.

The majority of them were young, and it only made me wonder what killed them.

"Accident, cancer, fire, shooting..." Hazel went around, tapping on them and answering the unspoken question about how they died until she reached the last person.

"Cool," I answered flatly. "So how do we get them to act naturally dead since I have to present them to Sue?" I asked. "Simple, but first, we have to transport them to wherever."

"She wants them on the outskirts of the city. She mentioned the heart of the forest..." When I said this, Hazel grabbed her bag, then opened a portal quickly.

With a snap of her finger, the corpses marched into the portal, and we followed closely behind them. We walked out to the heart of the forest where Sue had asked me to meet her. Hazel did her magic, and the corpses fell to the ground at once. Their throats became slashed, and fresh blood gushed out from them.

"I would be a witch over a vampire any day," I said to her, then I watched her head swell from my praises. "But are you sure she won't find out about the fact they are corpses?" She shook her head at my question.

"A witch never reveals their true secrets. Plus, I've been studying, so you've got to give your girl some credit, please," she said, and I let out a chuckle.

"I've mastered quite a lot of tricks, and this one is difficult, but I'm sure I got it right. So trust me?" I nodded at her question. "Good, so what's next?"

"I need to call Sue to meet me here to examine the bodies. Then she will take them to her den."

"Then how will you get home?"

I shrugged.

"Only one way to find out," I said, taking out my phone from my backpack.

I put a call across to Sue.

"What do you want, brat?" she asked, and I choked on my spit.

"I want to let you know I have the bodies you requested," I said, trying to sound confident.

"Already?" she asked, and I croaked out a "yes."

"You better not play with me, brat! I'm on my way." She ended the call.

"You have to leave now," I said to Hazel, who glared at me with concern etched on her face. "I will be fine, and I need you to trust me like I'm trusting you on this one." She sighed as I said this, then pulled me into a brief hug.

"Be sure to call me if it gets bad, and know that I can easily track you down." I nodded at her words, then she walked through a portal which shut just in time before Sue's portal opened up.

Sue arrived with about five men who had rough-looking faces. What shocked me was the fact that I hadn't seen those men when I was at their camp, so it made me wonder how fast they were growing.

"Ten fresh human bodies," Sue said as she walked around the pile of bodies laid on the ground.

She bent down, swiping the blood on the ground and bringing it to her mouth.

"Tastes right," she said, then she clapped her hands together, turning to me. "Looks like you outdid yourself this time, hybrid," she said, and then she snapped her fingers at the men.

"Take the bodies back to base at once." The five of them nodded, walking over to the pile of bodies, with each of them hurling two bodies on their shoulders.

As they walked through the portal, Sue faced me.

"So... what's next?" I asked, and she grabbed my hand.

"You are coming with me," she said, dragging me into the portal.

We came out in a room in the house I had been in before. Sue walked me to the room where I had met the heads of the group. There, I saw the two of them sitting as if they were glued to their seats.

Sue let go of me roughly, and I staggered to gain my composure.

"She lived up to the task that she was given, so it is safe to say she can join us," she said casually, walking to her seat.

I stood there, quickly arranging the lies I would tell if they ever asked how I had done it so fast, but they never did. All they did was stare at me. After a while, the male clicked his fingers.

Two vampires appeared in the room.

"Take her to one of the chambers so that she can have a good night's rest," he said to them, and they bowed to him. "This way," one of them said with their head held high, and my feet got moving because I didn't want to get dragged roughly.

As I was leaving, they all began to discuss in whispers, leaving me wondering if it was about me. It definitely had to be, I thought, as I was taken out of the room.

After walking for a while, the men with me came to a halt in front of a door, then opened it, showing me a room with black aesthetics. Everything from the bed to the walls was black.

"This will be your room." This was all they said to me before the door shut behind me.
