Bella:

Fear was an understatement of how I felt each time I was in the presence of this man. I always waited for him to snap and kill me or something, but everything about me seemed to make him happy.

My heart raced as he made his request, and I knew I couldn't turn it down. This was what I had signed up for. It was obvious this was a trap, and he was probably trying to see me fail so he would have a cause to kill me.

"What do you say, sidekick?" he asked, his gaze never leaving mine.

"That is brilliant, and I would love to indulge in this game," I tried to sound formal.

The smile on his face widened once more. Then he walked back to his seat and sat down, facing the four of us in the

room.

"How delightful is it that my new sidekick wants to play my game?"

"Very delightful, sir," Sue and her cohorts echoed like little minions with no minds of their own.

I didn't blame them one bit because I knew how bloody this would get if they decided to disobey him.

"When do we leave?" I asked, and he shot me what I assumed was a killer look, but as usual, his lips curved into a smile.

"Right now. After I get the feedback, I want."

I was about to speak when a portal opened in the room, and two vampires walked out, then dropped to one knee at once with their heads bent.

"Speak!" Enzo ordered at once.

"A meeting of all alphas of Moon Fire will hold this evening at the Rune Pack. This meeting is to discuss the rescue of the Princess, Bella." My throat dried up the moment I heard my name, and Enzo shifted his gaze to me.

"We are quite popular, my little sidekick!" he chuckled, then his face curved into a frown. "Which one of them is your father?" he asked, and I opened my mouth to speak.

"Herald Runestone, and he won't be making any travels," I said at once.

"Argh! An original werewolf? I had no clue," he replied, his face gleaming. "And do you share any personal

relationships with the other alphas?" he asked, and I swallowed hard.

This was a tricky question, and a part of me felt he was trying to punish me. Well, I trusted my gut.

"Yes. Alpha Trent from the Thorne Pack and I are pretty close. I know his children," I lied, and his lips curved into a smile again.

He waved off the men, and they got to their feet, walking away. Then he stood too.

"Why don't we play our game right now?" he questioned, and I nodded slowly. He snapped a finger, and Sue opened a portal at once.

He made his way to the portal, and I followed him, giving Sue one last glance before I stepped into the portal. This portal opened up in the Thorne Pack.

My fear was slowly being confirmed, making me realize how I could not trust these people.

"Why... why are we here?" I asked, trying to search his face.

"I am hungry, and I would like to find your alpha friend. Maybe he has answers," he said, and I tried to maintain my composure.

A part of me prayed that Alpha Trent wouldn't be alone, because it would lead to his death. Enzo was swift, and he was a walking portal. He could appear, swipe someone's head, then disappear all at once, and that scared the hell out of me.

"You said hide and kill?" I asked, and he nodded. "So where are we going to hide while we're walking without protection on the bare lands of the Thorne Pack?"

"You have a lot to learn, sidekick," he said. Then he grabbed my hand, standing by a sidewalk.

A group of people passed us, making me realize we were probably invisible to their naked eyes.

"Now, to go to the alpha's house," he said, opening a portal and tossing me into it before I could say a word. The portal opened up in a huge bedroom, which I believed belonged to the alpha. My heartbeat raced even faster, and I kept praying the alpha had left for the meeting. But that wasn't the case as the door to the room opened at once, and he walked in.

Alpha Trent was as tall as Enzo. He was the youngest alpha in the four packs-about twenty-eight years of age. Like every other alpha, he possessed unique facial features that made him look like a mini god.

"Enzo Darkmoore!" Alpha Trent growled at once, his eyes glowing yellow with his fangs appearing.

Enzo sat on his bed, yawning slightly.

"Glad you could join the show," he said. Guilt clawed at my heart when Alpha Trent stared at me.

"You do not have to be scared, Bella. I will..."

Before the alpha could finish his words, Enzo moved with the speed of light, snapping his head, causing my heart to stop beating. I watched as he sank his teeth into the neck of the unconscious alpha, sucking the life out of him, and as Alpha Trent grew pale, Enzo burst out with a more youthful glow.

At that moment, I wanted to disappear, but I couldn't. I was standing there, and this was secondhand murder. I caused it. I called the shots on the poor alpha, but it could have been Alpha Fred.

"Fuck!" I groaned, and Enzo looked up at me.

"Come, take a bite," he said to me, and I remained ten. He hissed at me. "I am not asking. It is an order!" My legs began to move at once, and he tossed the alpha's body on the ground. Then I got to my knees, shutting my eyes as I brought my teeth to his neck.

As the blood flowed through my veins, I almost forgot that I was doing a terrible thing. It tasted so good, and my body wanted more.

"Can you feel the power, little one? Royal blood tastes better than any supernatural, and supernaturals taste better than humans. There is a rank, and being with me will expose you to the finest things in life."

His words were a blur, as I had already gone far. But then the door flung open, and a maid walked in, causing me to pull out my fangs. I stared at her with Alpha Trent's blood dripping from my mouth. Then a scream escaped her mouth as she made her way out of the room.

I got up to go after her, but Enzo grabbed me. As soon as his hands met my shoulder, it was as though the demon of bloodlust that possessed me vanished, and I came back to my senses, staring at the dead alpha. I had murdered someone for real. This time, it wasn't secondhand. My teeth were the last to pass through him, and I drained his last blood, which may have been able to revive him.

I wanted to go back and feed him my blood, but Enzo was watching. He wanted to see me break, but I couldn't. So I turned off my emotions at once. This made me tough, and the memories of pain vanished as I followed him through the portal, which shut off at once.

We made it back to the territory, which was in the same Thorne Pack. And as soon as we arrived, Enzo spread his arms with his smile wide.

"I want you all to give a special welcome to my sidekick," he began. "Because today, she killed an alpha. Alpha Trent

of the Thorne Pack is dead, and it is all because of her. The list of royals to kill keeps reducing!" He clapped his hands, startling me.

"My sidekick is the best." He turned to me, and I flashed him a smile.

I wasn't foolish to ask why he didn't kill my father instead. I knew why. He wanted the news to go around about how I

am some psycho killer, and he got exactly what he wanted. I fell into his trap.

But then I had to be wise too. I needed to know the trick he used, so I waited until we were alone.

"You really did a good job out there," he commended, and I muttered a thank you.

"But I am curious, Enzo. You moved so fast before the alpha could strike a blow. How did you do that?" I asked, and

he raised a brow.

"Portals. They do not call me a walking portal for nothing. I opened a portal behind him and went through it."

My mouth widened, and then I gasped, trying to feign a positive reaction to how brilliant he was.

"That's excellent. You are excellent, Enzo." I watched him gloat while I prayed I would find a way to stake him to death.
