Chapter 8: The False King
[After School]
[Micheal]: Damn it! Where did Kaiser run off to?
(He scans the courtyard, frustration gnawing at him. Then, he spots someone familiar.)
[Micheal]: Huh? Is that Alice? Shit⦠I really donât want to do this, but itâs worth a shot.
(He exhales sharply, then walks over.)
[Micheal]: âHey, Alice. I need to ask you somethingâabout Kaiser.â
Before Alice can respond, a sharp voice cuts in.
[Crya]: âTch. Lizard-breath, Ace doesnât know anything about K-A-I-S-E-R, so how about you run along while Iâm still feeling generous?â
Micheal barely spares her a glance.
[Micheal]: âFirst off, I wasnât talking to you, rich bratââ
[Crya]: âHmph! Itâs Crya Kirin, thank you very much!â
[Micheal]: âYeah, didnât ask.â (He turns back to Alice.) âLike I said, I came here for Alice.â
[Crya]: âHOW DARE YOUââ
[Alice]: âEnough, Crya.â (She sighs, then looks at Micheal.) âIâm not so petty that I canât answer a simple question.â
(She pauses, then shakes her head.)
[Alice]: âBut no, I havenât seen Kaiser. Not since his⦠incident with King Arthur.â

Micheal clenches his jaw. Damn⦠Thatâs the last thing I wanted to hear.
[Micheal]: âShit. I donât like this⦠He was right beside me, and thenâpoof. Just like that, he was gone.â
[Alice]: âYou think this has something to do with his interaction with King Arthur?â
[Micheal]: âMaybe⦠I just hope heâs okay.â

[Somewhere Else â Kaiserâs POV]
Kaiser blinks, trying to process what he just heard.
[Kaiser]: âHuh? What? Hold onâcould you say that again, Mom?â
[Mom]: (Calmly) âYou heard me, Kaiser.â
[Kaiser]: âMy dad and King Arthur knew each other? Thatâs kinda insaneâlowkey freaking out over here. Waitâif they knew each other, then what actually happened?â
(His motherâs expression softens, but thereâs a sadness in her eyes.)
[Mom]: âIt started over a decade ago, before your father and I met. Back then, Arthur wasnât the only one in line for the throneâyour father was a contender too.â
Kaiser stiffens. Dad was⦠in the running for King?
[Kaiser]: âWait, seriously? Then he mustâve been crazy strong!â
[Mom]: âOh, he was. In fact, he was the strongest among them. With a single swing, he could level mountains and split seas. But Arthur⦠wasnât far behind.â
(She looks away for a moment, as if recalling something distant.)
[Mom]: âThey clashed many times. Your father won every timeâbut just barely. Then, something changed. Your father kept growing stronger, and slowly, Arthur began to fall behind. The distance between them grew⦠and so did the tension.â
(A silence lingers.)
[Mom]: âThen, one day, a rumor spreadâArthur had requested a duel for the throne. By then, your father and I had already met⦠and you had already been conceived. But Arthur didnât know that.â
Kaiser swallows hard.
[Mom]: âYour father left to face him. Hours passed. Then a day. Then another. No one heard anythingânot even me.
Until Arthur came back⦠alone.â
(A chill runs down Kaiserâs spine.)
[Kaiser]: âWait⦠soâdoes that mean⦠Dad died?â
[Mom]: (Firmly) âNo. It was never confirmed that he died. And I know, deep in my heart, that he isnât gone.â
[Kaiser]: âHow can you be so sure?â
(She reaches into her robe and pulls out a folded piece of paper.)
[Mom]: âBecause of this. Read it.â
(She hands it to him, and with trembling fingers, Kaiser unfolds the note. His eyes scan the words, his breath catching in his throat.)
âArthur is a fraud. He plans to kill everyone. If I disappear, then his plans will be ruined. I have to go. Iâm sorry. I love you. Take care of Kaiser.â
Kaiserâs hands shake. His pulse pounds in his ears.
[Kaiser]: âWaitâDadâs ALIVE?!â
