That same night, Marjorie was sat at the bar, sipping a glass of wine.. when she heard a familiar voice from behind.
"Marjorie," the voice spoke.
Marjorie turned around- it was autumn.
"Autumn, what do you want?" Marjorie rolled her eyes. "If you're here to argue with me, then I'm not interested."
"I'm not here to argue with you, marj. I heard about what happened between you and Reece." Autumn spoke.
Marjorie laughed as she ordered herself another drink. "I'm guessing you're on his side."
Autumn shook her head. "No." She began. "I just want to let you know.. that no matter what happens, you'll always be my sister- and my best friend. I'm not going to let Reece get in the way of our friendship."
"You've never referred to me as your best friend before.." Marjorie spoke. "Where is Reece, anyway?" She asked. "The last time I saw him, he'd packed a bag and was storming out of the house."
"He's gone back to his old place, I think he's gonna stay there for a while." Autumn responded. "Are you okay, though?"
Marjorie didn't respond, her mascara was smudged all over her cheeks, her hair was a mess, her eyes were red and puffy, and her voice was dead and croaky.
"Marjorie? Answer me." Autumn spoke.
She shook her head. "I'm not okay." Marjorie spoke. "I've lost everything, I've lost Reece- but I've also lost myself."
"You haven't lost Reece, he is just as distraught as you are." Autumn responded.
"I'm starting to think that this whole situation is my fault." Marjorie replied.
"It isn't." Autumn said softly. "Do not blame yourself."
A tear rolled down Marjorie's cheek, she picked up her phone and checked the time, but she still had a picture of herself and Reece on her lockscreen. "I miss him, I miss us.. it's never going to be the same again."
"Marjorie- stop acting like it's over, because it isn't. You're just having some time away from each other." Autumn said.
"It might be over." Marjorie said bluntly.
"How?" Autumn asked.
"I'm starting to have second thoughts about this relationship- and what if he is too?" Marjorie asked.
"He isn't," autumn replied. "Reece would do anything for you, he loves you more than anything, and he said that himself." She added as she stood up.
"He said that?" Marjorie asked.
Autumn nodded. "Yes." She then grabbed her bag. "I'm gonna go, call me if you need to talk."
"I will." Marjorie smiled slightly.
Autumn moved towards Marjorie and offered a hug, but Marjorie shook her head. "I don't do hugs anymore."
"Oh- okay." Autumn sounded hurt. She walked away, her heart ached for both Marjorie and Reece- she just wanted things to go back to the way they used to be.

While Marjorie was at the bar, Reece was at home, he'd unpacked his bag, and he was sat in his living room, sipping a glass of whiskey.
He didn't know what to do, he hated himself. He knew he'd hurt Marjorie.
He kept checking his phone, just incase Marjorie had messaged him, or called him.. but she hadn't. Coincidentally, his lockscreen was the same as Marjorie's- the same picture of them on their first holiday.
The silence of the room was then broken by Reece's ringtone- Diana was calling him.
"Hey mum." Reece spoke in a raspy tone.
"Reece, I heard about what happened with you and Marjorie, are you okay?" Diana asked.
"Not really." Reece shook his head.
"You will hurt a lot.. but I promise, you will be okay again." Diana smiled.
"I'm only going to be okay when I know Marjorie's okay. I've hurt her, but she's hurt me." Reece spoke. "And I regret hurting her."
"But, do you regret loving her?" Diana asked.
"No." Reece responded.
"I'm sure she feels exactly the same way. She loves you Reece," Diana smiled.
"Does she?" Reece asked.
"Yes." Diana spoke bluntly. "Call me if you need anything, I'll see you at work on Monday."
"Alright, bye mum." Reece responded as he hung up.
He sat staring into space- wondering what he was going to do all weekend.. he was a mess.

The next day, Marjorie woke up alone, she wandered into the bathroom and stared at herself in the large mirror. She questioned herself.
'Why am I never good enough?'
On second thought, she decided that she needed a change, and that's exactly what she did.
She had her hair trimmed, and dyed- it was past shoulder length, and back to blonde. She had a fresh set of nails, she had her lashes done, and she'd bought herself a whole new wardrobe.
The following Monday, Marjorie was on the early shift at work, she arrived at the nursery at about 7:30 AM, and was busy working in her office when charlotte walked in and smiled. "Morning Marjorie,"
Marjorie looked up at Charlotte, she didn't even crack a smile. "What do you want?"
Charlotte shrugged. "Nothing- I just wanted to check on you, autumn said you were upset on Friday night,"
Marjorie rolled her eyes. "I'm fine."
"Good." Charlotte smiled slightly. "Your hair looks really nice, by the way."
"Thank you," Marjorie snapped.
Charlotte left the office, and Carly walked in. Marjorie looked up at Carly, with hatred in her eyes.
"Hey Marjorie," Carly smiled, in her usual- bubbly manner.
"Get out." Marjorie said sternly.
"What? I-I was just coming to see if you were okay.. after everything that's happened," Carly spoke innocently.
"Just get out," Marjorie repeated herself.
Carly was fighting tears, she rushed out of the office, leaving Marjorie alone. About ten minutes later, Reece walked into the office. He admired Marjorie for a moment while she wasn't looking. "Marjorie." He began.
"I thought we weren't speaking?" Marjorie spoke.
"What have you done to Carly? She's crying in the staff room." Reece said.
"I told her to get out of my office." Marjorie replied.
"You promised that you wouldn't treat her differently." Reece replied.
"I'm sorry-" Marjorie apologised.
Reece rolled his eyes. "It's fine. Your hair looks really nice by the way." He added as he left the room.
As Marjorie watched Reece leave the room, she felt her heart drop. She'd completely lost herself, and she was indeed.. broken.
