The next day, Marjorie woke up in Reece's warm embrace. She turned to face him, she watched his eyes slowly flutter open.

He yawned. "Morning,"

"Am i dreaming? Was last night real?" She asked.

"Of course it was," Reece giggled.

"I missed you," she smiled as she played with her hair.

"Can we start over?" Reece asked.

"Of course we can." Marjorie nodded. "No more secrets?" She asked.

"No more secrets." Reece smiled. He held out his pinky finger. "Promise?"

Marjorie locked the promise. "i promise."

"Good," Reece smiled slightly. "We're gonna have to learn to trust each-other again."

"I know." Marjorie sighed. "But I'm going to have to adapt to the role of being a stepmother,"

"No trouble." Reece giggled. "Carly already sees you as her second mum in life."

"I know," Marjorie replied. "Have you even spoken to her since everything happened?"

"No.." Reece spoke shyly.

"You've been avoiding her?" Marjorie asked.

"Yeah- I'm sorry- I can't face that conversation right now," Reece replied.

"You're gonna have to, you can't avoid your own daughter!" Marjorie spoke, raising her voice slightly.

Reece could sense that things were about to get heated again, so he tried to keep calm. "If it makes you happy, I will speak to her."

"Good." Marjorie smiled. "The poor girls wondered about you all her life, she's probably got hundreds of questions for you."

Reece stood up. "We'd best get ready for work then, hm?"

Marjorie nodded. "Yeah,"

Although she had Reece by her side, things felt a little different. They both had to learn to trust each other again, they had to get to know each other again, it was like meeting all over again, but the positive side of things were that they had been given a second chance. Marjorie still loved Reece, but this time, it was a different kind of love- it was hard to explain.

A while later, Marjorie and Reece arrived at work, they wandered into the staff room.. where Carly was sat all alone.

"Morning," Marjorie smiled slightly as she took a seat.

Carly looked up from her phone, she didn't even crack a smile. "Marjorie? Reece?" She sounded surprised.

"I- well, we need to speak to you." Reece spoke awkwardly.

Carly scoffed. "I thought Marjorie hated me.."

"Carly, I never hated you, my love." Marjorie placed a hand on Carly's shoulder.

Carly shoved Marjorie's hand away. "Don't touch me." She snapped.

"Carly- I'm sorry I may have treated you a little differently, but I was just angry, can we just talk.. please?" Marjorie begged.

Carly rolled her eyes. "Fine."

"I know you've probably got lots of questions, but I'm sorry that I've avoided you over the past few weeks, I just don't know what to say.." Reece said.

"I just don't know why you didn't tell me..you've known this whole time, yet you didn't think to tell me." Carly sighed.

"I didn't want to ruin our friendship." Reece spoke.

"But we're not really friends anymore.. are we?" Carly asked. "You're my dad. Don't you understand?"

Reece nodded. "I think we can still be friends.. to be honest, you've grown up without me, you don't need me."

"It's just weird.. you guys aren't just my work parents anymore. You're actually my parents." Carly said.

"My love, nothings going to change, okay? Things can still be the way they were before- I don't see you as any different, and technically speaking.. I'm still your manager." Marjorie giggled.

Carly nodded. "I know... but please, promise you won't keep any more secrets from me?"

"Promise," Marjorie and Reece said in unison.

"Good." Carly smiled. "I suppose this is like a fresh start.. a second chance?" She asked.

Marjorie nodded. "Come here," she said with open arms, she pulled Carly in for a tight hug.

"I forgive you." Carly whispered into Marjorie's ear.

Marjorie pulled away and smiled. "Good."

"Well- what do I call you two now? Mum? Dad?" Carly asked.

Reece shrugged. "Whatever you're comfortable with, I'm not bothered, as long as you're happy."

Carly giggled. "I think I'll stick to Marjorie and Reece for now."

"Alright, my love." Marjorie replied. "Come and find us if you need to talk,"

"Will do." Carly nodded as she left the room.

Marjorie turned to face Reece. "Well- that went better than expected."

"It did." Reece nodded. "What do we do now?"

"I think you and I still need some time, I mean- we didn't speak for nearly two months, how about we go and grab some lunch to catch up?" Marjorie suggested.

"I'd like that." Reece smiled.

Their relationship was still a little rocky, but it just proved that if two people are meant to be together they will eventually find their way back into each other's arms, no matter what.

To be continued.
