Chapter 13: Back To School

The MatchMaker (YEONGYU FF)Words: 11110

Today was the first day back since the break was over. The trip was well deserved. As far as our camping trip, the date was determined due to the bad weather this month.

I was walking on my way to school when suddenly I felt a drop of water fall upon my cheek.

It was raining, and I had no umbrella. I didn't think to check the weather before heading out for this morning,

I took off my book bag and held it over my head, letting the rain french it. As I approached the school, the rain got more complex. Yena was already inside because I left late due to losing my notebook.

Up ahead in the distance, I saw the familiar back of Beomgyu, and He was running toward Yeonjun with an umbrella. He tilted his umbrella to cover him and Yeonjun as he walked beside him.

I was happy they were getting along, but I was displeased at my state.

I hoped my notebook wasn't affected too wrong, and I didn't want this day to worsen.

I sped my walking pace up, trying to hurry inside the gates; once I made it inside, I took my things to my locker. My hair was tasseled from the rain, and I needed a brush.

Usually, Yena keeps a brush in her locker; I walked over to her locker and fiddled with the lock. I knew her code because she always used the same one the day she received her first mission.

I grabbed the blue brush and aggressively brushed the tangles out.

"Wow, Soona," Yeonjun says, walking in with Beomgyu.

"I know, I forgot my umbrella." I brushed the last few strands.

"You could have shared with us," Beomgyu says.

"That's fine." I closed the locker and grabbed my bag off the floor.

"Let's go. We're going to be late." I walked inside the cold classroom. I hope I wouldn't become sick.

"Soona, did you forget your umbrella?" Yena asks across the room.

"Unfortunately." I sighed, walking over to my desk; I set my bookbag down empty the contents onto my desk.

"Great." I sighed to myself as I felt my drenched notebook. I wouldn't be able to take notes today...

"Hey, Do you have an extra notebook I can borrow?" I ask Beomgyu.

"I think I have one around here." He opened his backpack, searching inside.

"Here, you can keep it." He hands me a red notebook.

I thank him, and the teacher comes inside; he looked wet himself.

"Class, be advised it will be raining when school also ends; I hope everyone brought an umbrella today. As for the class camping trip, it's moved to next month due to the weather this month. I hope you all can understand." A few groans were heard throughout the classroom.

"Dang it," Yena says, clenching her fist.

I began to shiver from the coldness of the classroom, and I held my arms, trying to warm myself up.

"Do you need a jacket? You can borrow mine." Beomgyu offered.

"Ah, Thank you." I took the black jacket from him, it was slightly oversized, but it would make me warmer.

Suddenly my nose began to itch, and I felt a sneeze coming.

"Achoo!" My sneeze echoed throughout the class.

"Soona, do you need the nurse?" The teacher asked.

"No, I'm fine, thank you." I declined.

"Are you coming to lunch with us?" Yena asks, hovering above my desk.

"I think I'll stay here. I'm not hungry."

"Are you sure you're wonderful?" She double-checks with me.

I nod, "Yes, now go eat, don't worry for me, I'll be here when you come back." I laughed.

I decided to read a book since I was alone in the class for 30 minutes, might as well do something with my time.

The book might be a slight sense considering it was a book about boy lovers. I usually read them to get ideas for my missions, which happened to be a recommend one...

I was so zoned into the book I didn't notice Beomgyu come in two minutes prior; he stood there blinking at the site beside me.

"Oh! you scared me!" I jumped a little from seeing him; his eyes were glued to the book.

"This! Sorry!" I slammed the book shut.

"I-It's fine. I brought you this since you're not feeling well.." He puts a yogurt drink on my desk, one of my favorite flavors.

"T-Thank you." I slowly took the drink in my hands; I felt awkward. Why did he have to come at the wrong time?

"That book is. My sister has that." He says, sitting at the empty desk beside me.

"Oh? I grabbed it by accident.." I lied.

BG: "It's a good story."

"Did you read it?"

BG:" My sister told me all of it."

"Oh, I see; I'm only halfway done."

BG:" I won't spoiler it for you, but you might cry."

"I don't want to cry..." I poked the straw into the drink.

BG:" I'll walk you home since you don't have an umbrella later."

"What about Yeonjun?"

BG:" He borrow one from a classmate earlier."

"Oh, thank you."

"Huh? what's this?" I opened my locker when a note suddenly fell out.

I took the small white letter in my hands and flipped it open.

"I know who you are; I've come to ruin your plan. Give it up; he's mine." My eyes glared at the words written. Is he mine? Who is this? Do they know who I am? Ruining MY PLANS?

I shoved the letter in my pocket and slammed my locker shut; luckily, everyone was gone.

"Yena!" I called out.

"Huh?" She turned around; she was standing under the overhang of the school; the rain is pouring off it.

"Take this, don't read it here." I shoved the letter in her jacket pocket.

I walked off toward Beomgyu, who was waiting for me.

BG:" you feeling better?"

"Huh? Yeah, I'm feeling fine, thank you.." I couldn't keep my mind straight. I was worried.

"You seem...bothered." He peered at me.

"It's just stress from school, nothing to worry about." I half-heartedly smiled.

"I found this earlier; you dropped it." He takes something out of his backpack.

In his hands was a small necklace, the one I usually wore around my neck. The chain was a gift from my mother when I succeeded in my Celestial school.

"Thank you, and I didn't know I dropped it."

BG: "Do you want me to put it on for you?"

"Ah, If you don't mind." He sits his backpack on the ground, and I grabbed the umbrella from him as he goes behind me.

He reaches his arms around, placing the necklace on me, and clips the necklace end to its chain.

"I think you should replace the end piece, and it seemed loose." He takes the umbrella back from my hands.

"I'll look into it; thanks again." I caressed the small charm in my fingers.

"Achoo!" Beomgyu let out a high-pitched sneeze beside me, and I tried to suppress my laugh.

"Bless you, are you okay?"

"Yes, It's just allergies." He sniffles.

"Allergies to rain?" I let out a small laugh.

BG: "That's right."

"I've never heard of being allergic to rain; You're unique."

BG:" Your choice of books is unique."

"H-Hey, that was an accident!" I defended myself.

BG:" Just joking!."

"We're here now. Thanks for walking me. Be safe on your way home. See you!" I waved to him.

"Soona, I read the letter... Did you not see anyone place it?" Yena walked into my room. How did she?! My door was locked!

"How did you- I didn't see anyone."

"I have no idea who this can be, but I don't think it's Beomgyu nor Yeonjun.." She sits down beside me, looking at the handwriting.

"We should compare it with our classmates."

YN: "That's right, but how can we without being suspicious?"

"Ask for their notes."

"It might work; we should be careful not to alert them.. this could be bad for us." She sighed.

Suddenly my phone vibrated, a text from an unknown person.

"What the?!" Yena yelled, reading the texts.

"I don't know.." I closed my phone, but it vibrated again—this time from Beomgyu.

"I have to go get my notebook from Beomgyu's" I grabbed my shoes, threw them on, and made my way to his house.

I knocked lightly at the door, and I hope he heard it.

The door slowly opens, revealing him holding the red notebook.

"Sorry again." He extends his arm out, and I take the notebook from him.

"Hey, Do you want to eat with me? I have extra food left." He offered. "Uh, sure!" I stepped inside.

The house was lovely, not too big but just a perfect size for an average-sized family;

"It's so quiet." I looked around; the pictures on the wall were a perfect angle.

"My parents are always working, and my sister is at her friend's usually." He hands me a drink.

"I see. It must be pretty boring here alone."

BG: "Sometimes, Other-times I enjoy it. No one is bothering me." He opens the soft drink can.

"Hey, uh, did you see anyone near my locker today?"

BG: "Hm. I did see someone but not a face."

"Was it a girl or guy?"

BG:" a guy, about my height. Why?" He takes a sip of the drink.

"Someone placed a note in my locker; I was just curious."

"A love letter?" He teased.

"No! More like a threat." I rolled my eyes.

"A threat? why?" His eyes widened.

"I don't know.." I stared at the drink can in deep thought. Who was this? A guy?

Did he like Beomgyu? Did Beomgyu know a guy liked him? So many questions my head hurt.

BG: "Don't worry too much; I'm sure it's harmless."

"Thanks, I'll try."

"Can I ask you something?" He begins to look serious.

"Yeah, What is it?" I got a little nervous. Did he find me out?

"Do you like Yeonjun?" My mouth fell open. Did he ask if I lied to that EVIL person?!

"Y-Yeonjun?! Hell no!" My chair scooted back a little from the shock I had.

"Sorry, I just thought.." He trailed off.

"H-Hey no, I don't like him or anyone for that matter." I calmed my breathing.

"No one?"

"Nobody at all, Not one person strikes my interest." I shake my head.

"I see." He says, looking away from me. Did he think I liked Yeonjun? Oh no, did he believe Yeonjun didn't want him?!

"What about you then?" I ask; he shifted his eyes back toward me.

"Which question?"

"Do you like Yeonjun?" I clasped a hand over my mouth, realizing. I shouldn't have asked that so soon.

He narrowed his eyes at me before shifting them away toward the kitchen.

"He's .. a good person." He spoke; the atmosphere felt tense. Was he angry, I asked?

"I'm sorry, It came out." I apologized; I went to stand up but bumped my leg on the metal table.

"Are you okay?" He asks, coming toward me, I grabbed my knee with one hand and the other, opening my palm to him, "I'm fine, don't worry." I stopped him from coming any closer.

"Are you sure?" He asks, looking down.

"I need to get home now; thanks for the notebook and food!" I say, trying to hobble my way out the door, but before I can, I felt fingers clasps around my wrist.

"Don't mention this to Yeonjun, please." He says behind me, his fingers lightly digging into my wrist.

"I-I won't." I stuttered. I don't know if it was the pain in my knee or the embarrassment that was hurting now.

Suddenly I have turned around, his face facing mine.

"Love triangle." He spoke.

"I- What?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"The book you're reading." He smirked.

"Y-You said you wouldn't spoil it."

"I didn't; You already knew."

"Am I interrupting something?" A confused Yeonjun stood in front of the door. He cleared his throat, and I snatched my wrist away from Beomgyu.

"Yeonjun- No, I was retrieving my notebook; I'll go now!" I showed him the notebook then limped quickly out the door, him eyeing me all the way.

I got him and threw the notebook to my bed, and I slid down my door, catching my breath.

What the hell is going on?

A threatening letter

Asking If I like Yeonjun?

Spoiling the story for me

Maybe it's BEOMGYU who is the devil...
