She turns the tube in her hand upside down with annoyance "Argh, wait hold on my concealers finished. I'm gonna get Mama's"

She leaves the room and I adjust my skirt a little bit, I made sure it was thigh length so that mom wouldn't have a go at me. Anyway I then check to make sure my hair looks fine.

It was Xavier (one of Indiah's older brothers) who decided to 'grace' me with his presence. He'll be turning eighteen later this year but me saying that he's confident would be a dramatic understatement.

I don't reply to his compliment, but it doesn't stop him from continuing to look me up and down.

I back up a little bit as he draws closer, "Soo.... what do you want"

I look away from him but the proximity between us is already extremely close, and he smells so good. "I-...yes"
"You don't sound so sure", He murmurs whilst lifting up my chin
Now we're fully looking at each other, and I can't help the butterflies that are filling up the pit of my stomach. I shouldn't be doing this.

I allow him to kiss me slowly whilst I lean back against the wall, I tell myself that I'll never give in but it's just so much more different in the moment. Once he's out of my way I head downstairs, King (their rottweiler puppy) barks as he follows me to the front door and I make sure not to let him out as I leave. Indiah's sat in the limo putting on her lashes, I sigh before getting in and sitting beside her. She literally carried on as if I didn't just get into the car, "Can we talk about it"

I'm just gonna let her be mad and then when she's done we'll talk, we're not really headed to a party but basically ever year there's this bonfire that all the kids from our school go to and it's the best thing ever. When we arrived Blair and Destiny were already there with drinks in hand, "What took so long?" They ask in unison
We each take a solo cup wordlessly and wait for them each to pour us a drink, Destiny frowns a little.
"Ugh, are you two on outs?", Blair asks
"Yup", Indiah answers
"What'd MK do", Destiny asks curiously
"Can't talk about it", Then she walks off
I roll my eyes
"What'd you do"
"You know what can we just have fun please?"
"I guess", B replies
"You gotta tell us eventually"
"Has anyone got a blunt", I mutter
"Cj's on his way, but in the mean time I've got edibles" Blair suggests

Within twenty minutes I was buzzed and boy was I loving it, D went to go look for Indiah because obviously we don't want her to be on her own. In the mean time I was with Blair, then CJ arrived with Archie......and Weston.
"Where is it", I ask expectantly
"Damn what happened to hi?"
"She's not having a good day", Blair replies as he puts his arm around her
"Ah, well then. Have at it"
"Actually I'm already buzzed"
West narrows his eyes as I light the blunt but I ignore him because why would I give my attention to someone who called me prestige. That being said I would love for something not so nice to happen to him.
"As much as I love you all, where's my favourite girl" Archie asks
We gesture to further across the beach and he drinks from my cup before saluting us and walking away, then West walks away so it's just me, Cj and Blair. But of course, now they're making out.
I groan, "Guys"
"Sorry sorry"
"I'm not", CJ says
I wave them off lazily, "It's fine do your thing"
"Hey where you going?", Blair asks
"Anywhere", I trip a little and they both hold me up
"Maybe not"
"Trust me I'll be fine, I'm in your direct point of view anyway"
"Don't go too far", She calls out after me
I wave them off as I continue to walk, and as promised I was just fine. I played beer pong with a couple of people from my grade, I was even going to chug but Mabel stopped me and reminded me I had a skirt on. Thank God for that reminder.
Other than that the bonfire was fun as always

I squint my eyes as flashing lights draw closer to me, Ive had way too many substances in the past hour so I'm not surprised that I'm seeing the light. I'm sat towards the end of the beach where no one else is, mostly just thinking. I tend to do that a lot when I'm high.
The car drawing closer becomes familiar as I stare at it a little longer. I get up with confusion as the door on the drivers side opens, "Daddy? What are you doing here"
"You accidentally called me"
"I did?"
He takes his phone out of his hoodie pocket before playing me a voicemail. "Destiny answer your phone for fuck sake, where are you guys? I'm too high for this"
"Oh"
"Are you ok?"
I sigh, "Yeahh"
"Good. Get in the car"
Wow, a whole switch in tones
I get in and he gets into the drivers seat before turning to me, "You-
"I know what you're gonna say, MK you've been smoking weed again. Then I'm gonna say, no daddy I haven't. Then we're gonna go round in circles because I don't wanna lie to you but I have to because it's better that way, so let's just take me home and forget this happened"
"We're not forgetting this happened. You're grounded"
"Spectacular"

I sigh, "Ok. I'm grounded, can we go now?"

"Call her, Darnel wants her home as well"

Dad frowns, "Why aren't you guys talking-

Speaking of, shes just knocked on his window, he presses the button to lower it and she leans in. "Hi uncle T"
"Oh for Gods sakes. Can you guys not live without weed?"
"What? I'm sober-
"I can smell it on you. Get in the car"
"But I'm having fun", She replies in a pleading tone
"Dee Dee it's late come on"
She sighs, "Fine"
Indiah gets into the backseat and I lean against the window as my dad starts the car, "Do I wanna know?"
"No", We both reply
We drove in silence, mom called dad at some point to check that he had picked me up but I was so out of it and tuned out of that conversation.
"So who's in the wrong", He fills the silence
"MK"
"Allegedly"
Indiah scoffs, "Allegedly?"
I smile sarcastically, "Had you let me explain you'd see why"
"I don't wanna know-
"Then get over it-
"Alright alright enough"
Soon enough we got to Indi's house, dad typed the pin that opened the gates before driving us through.
"Wait here", He told me before getting out of the car with Indiah who did not bother saying bye
Uncle Darnel was already standing on the porch with Xavier, they were talking to my dad.
King barks as he makes his way over to the car and I open the door. "Hi baby"
He jumps up onto my lap and I give him a cuddle, "Did you miss me?"
He licks my face and I scrunch it whilst stroking him, "I missed you too"
I then look through the window, towards the house where Xavier's stood leaning by the front door. I gesture for him to come over with my head, I shouldn't have because I'm supposed to be trying to get my best friend to talk to me but I want to talk to him....but then I don't. I don't know what I want at this point.
He comes over chuckling, "You're in trouble"
"Shut up"
"How you always getting caught"
"Cause my dads not stupid"
"How was the bonfire"
"It was fine, hookups here and there, drinks here and there, and also beer pong"
"Seems like you had fun"
"I didn't say that the hookups involved me"
"I'd say good but then you'll just yap on and on about how I'm not your bodyguard"

I'm gonna want to bury myself into a hole tomorrow morning

I then give King a kiss before setting him down and shutting the door, Xavier shakes his head before walking back over to the house. I sit back with annoyance, at about the same time my dad gets back inside the car.
"What are you pouting about-
"I'm not pouting", I defend

I so wish I could talk about it with him but bringing up boys to him would put him in protective mode, even if it's Xavier who I've known my whole life.
"I don't know, I'm sad. Can we get food?"
"That's not gonna work today"
"Damn", I decide to accept my defeat as I lean against the window and he starts the car

I flinch as water is squirted all over my face, "Mom", I groan
"It's raining in Washington DC" She continues to squirt water at me and I turn my head to the side with annoyance
"Come on", I say annoyed
"Good, you're awake. Get up"
"Huh?"
She tilts her head, "Oh you forgot you had school today? Maybe I should remind you-
"Alright alright I remember!"
She sprays my face anyway and I cough as I sit up, my pillows are drenched in water. "Why", I complain
"I said go to the bonfire, I didn't say get high or drunk. Do you know how dangerous that combination is?-
"I know I know, I'm sorry"
"You gotta get up"
"Can I just go in late?"
"I don't know what it is that's gotten into your mind recently. Your dad thinks I'm too easy on you and I'm starting to agree"
"But-
"No be for real MK, there's another two babies on the way and I don't wanna be having to worry about you not doing the right thing"
"You won't", I assure her
"You're not proving me right. Until you can show me, you're grounded. That means straight after school you come home unless you have cheer practise, and I'll know if you're just pretending. You're also not going to Blair's party"
I scoff with shock, "Mama"
"No don't mama me. You wanna be acting grown all the time, that's fine I'll just take shit away from you bit by bit"
"Look I understand being grounded I'm not complaining, but Blair's party. Ma I have to go-
"Should've thought about that before you decided to act out. You're taking the piss now, you literally got let off when your dad found two blunts on you the other week"
I frown
"Hurry up and get ready for school", She leaves my room after that and I grumpily get out of bed
I don't even have a lot of time to get ready, I had a shower, did my skincare and then opted for slicking my hair back into a bun.
Neveah looks back from the island as I enter the kitchen, "Morning" She says with a mouthful of toast
I put a bottle of water into my bag and mom looks back from feeding Aidan, "Your sister said good morning"
"I know"
"You're lucky I haven't had breakfast"

"Ma can you sign my form for my trip?", Trinity slides a letter over to her
"When is it"
"Next week"
She clicks the pen in her hand whilst taking the form from her, but first she makes sure to read through it.
I pause from looking around
"Where's my car keys"
Dad comes downstairs in his suit "I'm dropping you remember"
"I thought it was pickup....."
"I can't, I'm gonna be working"
"This is embarrassing. It's fine, my teacher doesn't even make those comments anymore"
"Good then he can tell me that himself"
"Whilst you're there, check how she's doing" Mom comments
I scoff, "This isn't parents night. Why do you guys love to ruin my day-
"Ooh I wish you would. Say one more thing I dare you"
I don't reply
Neveah claps, "Let's go I've got a skating session this morning and daddy promised me a pink drink"
They slide out of their seats before picking up their bags and mom gives them each a kiss on the head, "Have a good day"
"Bye mama"
Aidan leans forward in his high chair, "Byeeeee!"
Veah laughs, "Bye Aidy"
I give our little brother a kiss because he's the only one that could ever press pause on my bad mood, "Sissy?"
"I've gotta go to school"
"Noo"
"I have to Aidy"
He gives me a big hug and my face softens
"See you later"
My brother waves in return
Mom on the other hand can go without a goodbye
Neveah catches up to me once we're out the house, "What did you do?", she whispers
"The usual, now they're ruining my lives"
She makes a yikes face, "Moms not gonna forget how you didn't say bye to her"
"I'm counting on it"
My sister giggles a little before getting into the back seat and I get in at the front, I did a light concealer look as dad drove us to school so that I could at least look and feel awake.
"What time do you finish work?", Trinity asks
"Should be around five"
"Ooh that means we can watch a movie"
"Sure"
"Ok don't forget"
"That means you can't be stuck in your office all evening", Veah says
"Yeah I got it" He says amused
"Good. Bye dad" Trinity says
"Just dad?"
"Uh yeah, we're on school grounds so dad it is"
He frowns
Neveah kisses his cheek, "Well I don't care. Bye daddy"
He smiles "Have a good day, Moses is gonna pick you up-...and no back chatting teachers please"
"Fine"
Once they're both gone he turns to me, "You ready?"
"No"
"Do you really need that much makeup for school?"
I frown as I look away from the mirror, "You can barely tell"
"Rightt"
I pack away my stuff, "Why you and mom have to embarrass me on a Tuesday morning I don't know. I do one thing and you guys multiply the punishment by one hundred"
"I'm just gonna talk to your teacher, you'll live" He says amused
"Ok but why can't I got to Blair's party" I complain
"You can, once you stop stressing your mom out" He says simply
"But she's the one who let me go in the first place", I complain
"Yeah and look how that turned out"
I roll my eyes before getting out of the car and he follows me shortly.
