I think this might be the best summer I've had in years, well actually last year comes a close second but still. This year has been great. I've had sleepovers with my best friends, beach days, many dates with Xavier, I even went to Mexico for five days with my godmother. But now we've entered the first week of August which means school is fast approaching, I don't even wanna think about that right now.
I'm just gonna enjoy the small time I have left
"Stop being a pig", Neveah taps me with annoyance as I squirt whipped cream into my mouth
"Chill", I say with a mouthful
"I want some"
"Bend your head back then"
She does so and I squirt some whipped cream into her mouth before then giving Aidan a tiny bit, "Mmmm" Our brother sounds
"Yummy?", I say amused
He nods and I smile a little before putting it back inside the fridge and leaning on the island. "Daddy"
"What", He fusses whilst focusing on his laptop
"Excuse me", I scoff with offence
"You guys have been bothering me all day"
"It's our job", Neveah says whilst covering his eyes
"Shoo"
"He's so rude"
"I watched three movies with you already. Give me some peace and quiet now please"
"Yeah yeah-...come on Aidan let's go bother Trinity"
He scurries after her up the stairs and I check my phone which has just buzzed.

"Dad have you thought about it"

My face drops, "For real?"
"Oh you mean about this weekend"
"Yes"
"Whose beach house did you say it was again?"
"Kaian's"
"Hm. Right"
It's Kai's birthday this weekend and he's celebrating it at his beach house, it's just gonna be vibes and music. Dad's only issue is me staying over.
"Indiah's gonna be there and Zay's gonna be there too", I say in a persuading manner
"That's not the issue"
"Ugh, dad come on"
"Who else is gonna be there"
"People. But we're the only ones staying over"
Plus Jamila, Zola, Jerome and Tamara. But he doesn't know who they are so I'm not gonna bother mentioning them.
"Why would Indiah be stay-....ah. Right" He realises
"Shit-
"Relax I'm not gonna tell Latoya"
"Thanks", I reply with relief
He folds his arms, finally paying attention to the conversation. "So she went for his best friend"
"Yes", I eventually reply
"Interesting"
"Dad you're killing me, is it yes or no" I urge
"I suppose you are growing up"
I start to feel excited, "Yayyyy"
"But I don't want you drinking"
"I won't", I promise
"And send me your location as well"
"Ok", I agree before going upstairs happily
It's gonna be a fun weekend

"Keys?", Trinity asks me
"Not driving"
"I know, house keys"
"Oh, yeah got it"
"Extra underwear"
"Always"
"Bikini"

"Sliders? Towels? All essentials"
I double check as we head downstairs, "Yeah"
"Ok, have fun" My little sister says
"Thanks, see you tomorrow"
"Hold on", Mom interrupts
I look back at her, she's in the front room sat on an exercise ball whilst chewing on some jalapeños. She's nine months now and is basically trying to get her water to break, she did this when she was pregnant with Aidan and it apparently worked.
Anyway she hands me a carrier bag and I frown a little as I look inside, "Condoms"
There's two boxes inside
"Cannot stress enough"
"Ma don't worry I got the message" I say amused
"Yeah well I need to be clear. Have fun"
I roll my eyes playfully, "Bye"
When I got outside Indiah was pulling up to the house, I put my duffel back into the trunk before getting in at the front and the sound of music fills my ears.
"Hey"
"Hey, you ready?"
"Of course", She immediately starts to drive because we're in for a long ride. Kai's beach house is about forty minutes from here, I'm happy that the AC is on because if it wasn't then I would probably pass out in this car.
"What'd you get him"
"He wouldn't let me buy him anything other than a cake"
"Oh yeah he doesn't care about gifts too tough does he"
"Nah, his exact words were all I need is for you to turn up for me. I got him some sneakers anyway"
"Aww"
Those two are so cute honestly
My best friend looks over curiously, "What's in the bag"
I show her the two boxes, "Courtesy of my mom"
Indiah takes one, "Don't mind if I do"
"As if the boys can't buy it themselves"
"True but you never know. So shes just accepted it?"
I look away from the window, "Basically. But not to the extent where she'll let him sleep in my room when he comes over"
"Yeah that one's common courtesy, but at least she's telling you to have safe sex"
"I guess. Also my dad figured out about you and Kai"
She waves it off, "He's cool. It's alright"
I tilt my head a little, "You're really ok with everyone knowing but your mom?"
"For now at least"
When we got to the house there were quite a couple of cars that were parked, we could hear the voices of many coming from the actual beach. I couldn't wait to just strip into my bikini, we were wearing it underneath our clothes.
As we exited the car I was flushed with a wave of heat, the sun was literally staring right down at us. I can't cope.
"You got the cake?"
"Zay bought it when he came", She says as we take our bags out of the car
There were a couple of people on the porch smoking weed, I recognised one of the girls as Kaian's older sister. She was sat with her boyfriend and like two of their friends, she's most likely here to make sure that nothing breaks inside the house.
"Hey Imani", We say
She smiles as she looks over, "Hey you guys ok?"
"Yeah"
"They're so cute honestly. Love them", We hear her say as we head into the house

Music was playing from the speakers and drinks were scattered across the island, to be honest the house wasn't extremely full since a lot of people were down by the actual beach, I'm not surprised Kaian knows this many people.
Not gonna lie though practically everyone was in their swimwear which was kind of our sign to change, we just need to put our shit down first. The music drowned out as we went upstairs, for a beach house this house is incredibly huge and there's quite a few rooms.
I looked for the room that Xavier's stuff would be in before going in, he definitely picked a good one. There's a bed, a nightstand, a door leading to a bathroom and then two white doors that lead to a balcony. "Wow"
"Kai said they were all fighting to find the best room", Indiah says amused
"Pfft, I would be too" I put my stuff down before taking off my shirt followed by my shorts. I went simple and wore my plain black bikini, Dee's wearing a blue one.
I check my ear piercings in the mirror
"You all good to go in the water?"
"Should be, my only freshest one out of these are my rook but I got that shit in like February"
"Yeah that's-
She jumps suddenly before holding her heart with shock, "Fuck, you scared me"
I turn back to see that she's talking to Kaian
"My bad", He says amused
"I hate when you do that"
"And I do it anyway-
"Shut up"
She gives him a soft peck as he holds her waist, "Happy birthday"
"Thanks baby"
"Took you awhile to reach seventeen but you got there in the end", I say amused
"You shush"
Indiah laughs a little and he holds her against him, that's my sign to get out of here before they start with all that PDA shit.
"Where's Zay?"
"Downstairs getting a drink, tell him you're here"
"Will do"
"I like what I'm seeing", I hear as I'm walking towards the door
"I'd expect nothing less", My best friend replies
"Remember who's sleeping in here tonight" I remind them
"Yeah yeah"
When I got downstairs I started looking around for Xavier, I texted him but he hasn't responded yet which is unusual because his replies are always quick with me. When I finally saw him in the kitchen I started to smile, I noticed he was talking to some girl. I couldn't see her face, all I saw were her knotless braids.
But I can tell she's someone I've not seen before
And it wasn't until she touched his arm that my eyes narrowed, "What are we looking at" Jamila asks whilst drinking from her can of red bull
It's become pretty common for me to see her with a vape in hand, I think she might be addicted now.
"Who's that", I ask casually
I can't see what Xavier's facial expressions are showing because his back is faced to me, but the girl seems to be touching him a bit too much for my liking.
Jamila's smile falters once she starts to look in the same direction as me, I catch onto that look.
"Who is she", I question again
"I don't have a clue what she's doing here"
"Why aren't you answering my question", I ask as I stop looking at them
She's still watching then with a look of confusion, "Uhh-
"Jamila"
"That's the girl he lost his virginity to...."

"Mila come over real quick", Somebody says from nearby
She looks back at them, "One sec-.... Ree I'll be back. Don't stress, it's not-
"Mila!"
"Shut up I'm coming!", She says annoyed
She gives me a look that says stay put before rushing off really quickly, those people needed her help anyway. But now it's just me and my thoughts.
That was before I felt a hip squeeze from behind, "Why you ain't call me?" My boyfriend murmurs whilst giving me a soft neck kiss
"I texted", I shortly reply as we face each other
He checks his phone, "Oh, my bad I didn't see"
Your phone was right next to you....
"Oh you didn't did you?"
He looks me up and down with amusement, "Well hello to you too. You look beautiful"
"Thank you."
He was coming in for a kiss but at the last second I turned my head, causing it to land on my cheek instead. Xavier frowns, "The fuck was that"
"Nothing"
"You're being weird", He notices
I don't reply and he furrows his brows, "What's wrong"
"Nothing"
"You're annoyed about something-
"No I'm not"
I feel threatened and I don't wanna admit it.
"Then why you giving me allat attitude", Now he's getting annoyed
Once again I simply reply with, "Nothing"
"Amariah-
"We'll talk later"
Xavier's eyes follow me as I walk away, I went to the kitchen to get myself a drink and then I went outside in search for Tamara. She texted me and told me to come and hang.
Isn't it just great that as I was heading down the porch steps I came across the same girl, only this time she was with two of her friends and they were standing by the side of the house smoking. I was just gonna pass by without a word but then I heard their conversation.
"Jada just let it be", The first friend said amused
"Would you let someone that fine go?"
"If they were in a relationship then yes"
Right?
"But girl come on, we used to be close. And the sex was too good"
How close?
"If you just wanna get laid-
"No, way more than that. I just need to remind him of our connection and then he'll be back trust me-
I've heard enough. I'm not one to make a scene but

The three girls look back at me

"Little miss home wrecker", I reply annoyed

"Ah, you're Zay's girlfriend" The last girl realises
Jada looks amused, "Don't take it personal babe. Zay should be with someone his own age, he used to love all of this-

Her friend tugs on her arm with a tired expression, "Jada just leave it come on-
"No, this bitch has so much confidence. I bet he ain't even tell you how close we used to be"
That statement should not have bothered me, but it did. How close were they?
Even so, I wasn't about to let her know that she was bothering me. "What's the matter, does no other boy want you? Is that why you've come back?" I challenge
She clenches her jaw and her friends eventually pull her away from me, "You're lucky there's people around" Jada warned as she walked away
"I'm terrified"

I don't even know what the fuck happened.
"Yo why do you look so grumpy", Kaian interrupts my thoughts as he passes me a drink
"I'm not."
"Where's Ree?"
"She left her phone here, I don't know where she is I've been looking"
"What's up"
I kiss my teeth a little, "She's mad about something"
"What did you do?"
"I don't know, I see her and then she swerves my kiss. Gives me an attitude and then walks way"
He frowns, "Did you not fuck her right or something?-
I give him a look and he raises his arms with surrender, "Kidding"
Mid conversation Jamila comes over whilst looking around. "Where's Amariah?"
"We don't know"
"Ah, shit" She mutters
I narrow my eyes, "What"
"She saw you and Jada talking, I told her to stay put but-
"Pause. Jada?", Kaian interrupts
Fuck sake, now it all makes sense
Honestly Jada left my mind the second I walked away from her, I don't even know what the fuck she was doing here but she was getting on my damn nerves. She was flirting and shit, tried touching my arm and everything. I don't like to be touched and everyone knows this, unless it's my girl which she is not. She was going on about missing me, I told her that I don't miss her and that I had a girl and she said she knows but she doesn't care, then when she touched me that was the last straw. Since I couldn't push her I moved away with disgust and told her to get the fuck out.
I should've known that that's what was bothering Ree, but even so she should know I would never cheat on her.
"What did you say to her" I say annoyed
"Chill, she wouldn't leave it alone. I said she was the girl that you lost your virginity to which I'm now realising was a mistake-
"Why would you put it like that?-
"Well what else was I supposed to say cause she's not exactly an ex-
"Why was Jada here", Kai interrupts
"I don't fucking know, she just started flirting with me and being annoying"
"She must've heard about the party"
"I need to find Amariah-
"Hold on. Let me talk to her" He unexpectedly says
"For what?"
He puts his drink down "Just trust me, I'll go. She's probably at the beach anyway"

I was sunbathing
I was pretty comfortable where I was, just laying there on a chair and enjoying the sun warming my body. Tamara told me to come in the water but I didn't really want to, I'll probably go on one of the jet skis soon, Indiah's enjoying it a lot.
I hear someone coming to sit down besides me but my eyes remain closed.
"We've been looking for you"
I don't make any effort to move, "Found me"
"Why don't you have your phone on you"
"I want to sunbathe"
"Ree I'm gonna keep it real with you, you gotta work on communicating"
"Kaian if you came here to lecture me-
"I'm not tryna lecture you I'm just letting you know. You're allowed to feel upset and annoyed cause I know I certainly would if that white boy Indiah used to mess with was touching her up. But you need to be able to tell Xavier when you're upset and what it is that you're upset about otherwise you guys just won't get anywhere"
"He knows I'm annoyed"
"Well yeah but you can't just expect him to be a mind reader"
"I know"
"Why are you annoyed at him?"
"I just wish I knew..."
He tilts his head "You never asked, and you said you never cared-
"Because I didn't think this shit would happen", I scoff
"That's not the only thing that's got you mad is it"
"She got in my head", I eventually mutter
"Jada? You spoke to her?" He says surprised
"Yes"
"When?"
"On my way down here", I don't expand any further and Kaian sighs
"I'm not one to put people down but this girl is a lowlife. Xavier loves you very much and you know he'd never do that shit to you"
I have so many things I wanna ask but I know it wouldn't be his place to answer. Deep down I know Kai's right.
"I know"
"Talk to him", He says softly
