DIMITRI POV She was killing me, and she didnât even realize it. I shouldnât⦠no, I couldnât. Lily wasnât in her right mind, she was driven by her heat. This wasnât her.
âItâs part of her. Aya told me about all her fantasties. She totally wants this.â
âYouâre not helping!â
âCome on Dimitri. Show me what my Alpha can do.â Lily whispered and I almost lost it. The amount of restraint I was showing right now was nothing short of heroic. Thank the Goddess I was wearing pants; My go-to was just a pair of boxers.
âLily, weâre not. Not for your first time, not like this.â I tried to be firm, but somehow my tone came off as more of a plea.
âHow do you know itâs my first time?â
I growled and she giggled.
âIâm kidding. Iâve never had s*x. Never even been kissed. You could change that though.â She ran her hand down my shoulders and over my chest. I caught her wrists and sat up, looking her in the eye.
âI plan to. But not tonight.â
Pain flashed across her features. f**k. I wanted to help her, so damn badly, but if I did, sheâd be pissed at me later. I knew she didnât really want this, not now. She only agreed to come to my room because I hadnât given her a choice; there was no way I was taking advantage of her heat.
âIt hurts.â She whimpered.
âI know. Iâll start a shower for you, and then Thara can bring you something-â
âYou donât want me.â
I saw the pain in her eyes, and I knew it wasnât her heat now.
âThatâs not why Iâm saying no Lily. Youâll regret it, later.â
âHow do you know?â She spat.
âI just know.â
She scoffed loudly, looking away from me. âI guess I shouldnât be surprised. You are the one who refused to k**s me after all. Twice.â
âReally Lily?â
Yanking her wrists out of my grasp, she hopped off the bed and stalked to the bathroom. A minute later, I heard the shower running. Falling back on my pillows, I covered my face with my hands. The scent of her arousal was thick in the room, drowning me. On top of that, my d**k was painfully hard, and all I could think about was joining her in that shower. Ajax was all for it, making me growl.
âYou know we canât. Stop being such a horny beast.â
âYou were the one who told Thara youâd claim her when she healed.â
Shame ran through me as I remembered that.
âWell, I changed my mind.â
âShe just threw herself at you! What more did you need?â
âFor her judgement not to be clouded. Youâre no better than her right now, so Iâm ignoring you before you make me do something stupid.â
Effectively blocking him out, I grabbed my pillow and some clothes and quietly left the room, mind-linking Thara to bring Lily something for her pain. When I reached Bens room, he was already awake.
âHey? Something up?â He let me in, taking in my state of undress and pillow.
âLilys in heat.â I grouched.
He raised an eyebrow. âSo why are you here?â
âBecause if I stay there, sheâs probably going to pounce on me again.â
âSheâs in your room?â
I nodded. âI moved her last night.â
Ben let out a low whistle. âDamn, if that doesnât qualify you to be Alphaâ¦â
âShut up Ben.â
âIâm just saying-â
âBen.â
He chuckled, holding his hands up. âYou get the room to yourself. I was just checking my things over, and then Iâm heading out.â
ââKay. Be careful. And come back.â
âYou sound like my mate now. You want me to bring you your favourite cookies on the way back?â
âf**k off. I just donât want the hassle of replacing you.â
âThought you said I was irreplacable?â
Picking up my pillow, I chucked it at his head. He caught it, tossing it back. I watched him pack the maps Luke drew up, his phone and various snacks and water bottles into a hiking pack; He gave me a salute and a , âWish me luck!â, before he left. Like a kid going to college for the first time.
Rubbing my eyes, I sat on his bed. I hoped Ben found a witch willing to help us. It was a long shot, we all knew that. But Lilys safety had became a top priority to me, something I had not anticipated. Which brought my thoughts circling back to the girl upstairs, who was probably super pissed at me for leaving. If I remembered correctly, her heat should only last a day. Maybe two, because it was it her first. And what a time for it to happen.
Iâd have to make sure someone stayed with her, Hazel or Thara. She couldnât be around the unmated males in the pack. Thara wasnât stupid though- she knew that. I trusted her to make it happen. Since training was obviously out of the question, I decided to go back to sleep. It was rare I got the chance to sleep in, and I was going to take advanatge of it.
My dreams stared around Lily and her little show earlier. This time, I didnât say no. I gave her exactly what she wanted, watching the pleasure on her face and listening to her call my name.
âOh⦠Dimitriâ¦â
âDimitri⦠Dimitri..â
âDimitri! Wake up!â
My eyes opened, my body shooting up. âWhat? What?â
âCalm down, itâs just me.â
Thara was standing beside the bed, an amused look on her face. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes.
âWhat time is it?â
âTwo.â
I blinked at her. âShit.â I sighed.
âDonât worry, nothing important has happened today.â
I stretched, climbing out of bed. Thara tossed me my shirt.
âThanks. Howâs Lily?â
She smirked. âAngry. But not in pain. Hazel is with her.â
âGood.â
She continued to stare at me and it was getting annoying. âCan you stop?â I grumbled.
âI canât help it. Part of me wants to laugh, but the other part is proud.â
âProud?â
âBro, never in a million years would I have thought you, of all people, would walk away from a she-wolf in heat. The fact that it was your mate is even more shocking. But yes, I am proud of you. You didnât take advanatge of her.â
âI wouldnât do that.â
Thara pursed her lips. âNo offence⦠but there was a time not so long ago when I believed you would.â
An arguement sat on my tongue, but I killed it. She was right, and I couldnât deny it.
âThings are different now.â I mumbled instead.
âI know. Lily told us all about your beach day.â She plopped down on the bed Iâd vacated. âWhat else do you planned?â
âUhâ¦â I rubbed the back of my neck. âIâm not sure? The beach was kind of a spur-of-the-moment thing.â
âWell, think it about it. She canât go anywhere for a while anyways. And, like I said, sheâs angry at you.â
I cringed internally. âHow angry would you say?â
âShe may have threatened to let her wolf out on you. But thatâs just the heat talking.â She waved her hand, but I gulped. Was Aya mad at Ajax too?
âOh yeah. Iâm officially in the dog house.â He whined.
âPoor guy.â
âIâm heading back up. If I were you, Iâd confine yourself to your office or in here.â She laughed.
âThat was the plan.â
âDimitri?â
âYeah?â
Thara threw her arms around me, forcing me to take a step back. I awkwardly patted her back. She hadnât hugged me inâ¦. When was the last time? Maybe at mom and dads funeral?
âWhat was that for?â I asked when she let me go.
âBecause Iâm happy for you. For both of you.â
âNothing is even going on yet.â
âYet.â She grinned.
She left cheerfully, promising to update me on Lily when she could. I took a minute to bask in the realiztion that what Iâd said was the truth. I planned on having Lily, on making her happy. Iâd finally accepted my mate, finally accepted that I wanted her. My eyes caught a paper blowing in the wind through the window, Bens calendar. Two days until my parents anniversary. I knew what I wanted to tell them this year, and I had a feeling it would make them happy. Make them proud.
