Queen Victoria
May 1st, 1519
Almost a month has passed since Catherine has been taken for almost poisoning me and killing the child growing inside of me.
Henry had ordered her execution at the Tower of London and it was supposed to happen yesterday.
We have finally moved to Hampton Court for a year. Hopefully longer. Mary was already unpacked and was already beginning her lessons with Lady Byron.
Henri has just turned one and I was on the hunt for a Govern for him to begin his lessons once he turned three.
I walked into my chambers with Henry and pointed near the bookcase where he dropped the trunk.
"Careful Henry! Half f those books are yours if you do remember." I said earning him to let out a laugh as he wrapped his arms around me.
"Let the maids put the books up. We pay them for that."
"No, I do not like how they arrange my books. But I will let them unpack everything else if we can go on a walk." I said and Henry stared at me for a moment before he smirked at me.
"You know I can never resist our walks." He said as he bowed his head before offering me his arm. I gladly wrapped my hand through his before he led me out of the room and into the corridor.
We had convinced almost everyone from the immediate court to transfer to Hampton Court with us. It was in the City and not in the country.
"They are many shops around here that you could visit. Bookshops, fabric stores, and just about anything." Henry said and I smiled at him as I patted his arm.
"Catherine is going to be executed right now." He whispered earning us to both stop in the middle of the courtyard.
"Harry,"
"I was married to her for almost ten years. We went through so much and lost so many children. Then the moment I get my happiness she tries to take it away." He said and I reached up and wiped a tear away from him.
"You loved her. It is normal for you to feel like this." I whispered but Henry shook his head as he stared at me.
"I stopped loving her so many years ago. I married her out of the promise I made my father." He said as his hands traveled to my bump and he smiled.
"For so long I have waited to love someone as much as I love you. And I do not know why I feel like this." He said and before I could say anything we heard cawing.
We both looked up into the sky and saw birds flying away. I went to say something to Henry and saw his eyes closed as he mouthed a prayer.
"Go. Go inside. Go to the chapel or with Mary." I whispered as his eyes opened and I saw tears there.
"I think I will. I'll be waiting for you at dinner." He said as he dipped down and kissed my cheek. I smiled at him before I watched as he fixed his coat and made his way inside the corridor and towards the chapel.
I stared after him for a moment before looking where the execution must have taken place.
"Que tu alma encuentre la Paz Eterna Catherine." (May your soul find eternal peace Catherine) I whispered before I did a sign of the cross and felt someone behind me. I spun around and saw Emilia there.
"Emilia, I thought you weren't on my service today," I said as she bowed her head to me.
"I was not. But Morgana fell ill today. So I offered to be with you instead of Lady Megan." She said and I let out a laugh as I wrapped our arms together.
"Good. Did you know about today?" I asked as we began making our way through the courtyard.
"About Catherine. Yes, Henry did not want us to tell you. He is our king."
"But I have been your friend since we were little girls," I whispered and Emilia stared at me for a moment.
"Permission to speak freely, Your Majesty." She said and those words stung me for a moment as I stared at her.
"Emilia, you have always spoken freely with me."
"No, I have not. Since you married Henry you have changed. And not for the better Vicky." She began and I broke myself away from her for a moment.
"We have always said the truth to each since we have been like sisters. But something has changed within you. I miss the old Vicky." She said and I glared at her.
"I grew up Emilia. I was sought out after the King, and you even said one does not refuse the King. I made changes that needed to happen before I lose my head." I hissed as I stared at her.
"Do you not see? Henry has all the power and yet all I have is the power of the Pope. He divorced Catherine because his children did not live. I will not be thrown aside like her." I hissed before I felt the baby kick and my hand flew to my stomach.
"So either you get on with what is going on in my life or you can return back to your estate. Do you understand?" I asked and Emilia stared at me for a moment before bowing her head.
"I understand perfectly, Your Majesty." She said as I turned away from her and began making my way inside the corridor.
I sent a soft smile to those who made eye contact with me before we got to my office and I turned to Emilia.
"I need you to go into town for me and get me new parchments, quills, and inks. I have letters I need to respond to and I almost out." I said and Emilia raised an eyebrow at me before bowing her head and nodding.
"I live to serve you, Your Majesty." She said and I smirked softly at her.
"And do not ever forget that."
