Chapter 30: chapter 30

Hello, guys.I am back. I writing A/N at the starting of the chapter for some reason.This chapter is a little different but very important. This chapter is going to be from Chase's point of view.What he felt is very much important. All I can say is, that maybe or maybe not, there will be a season 2 of this story. And maybe or maybe not Chase could be one of the lead. So I will stop talking here and will see you at the end of this chapter.Enjoy.*************Chase's POV-"Chase, he is bringing his wife today. He warned me to not let his wife find out about him buying us from our parents." My sister told me."But Leah, I hate him. I don't want to obey him.""It is not an option Chase.""Leah, let's run away from here. He is not around. I don't want him to hurt you.""Run and go where? We have no home to go to. Our patents already took money in exchange for us. If we run away, do you think we can survive here? We know no one here." Leah said again."Why does he beat you? You do everything for him.""He doesn't just beat me. He does something worse. She whispered.I never understood why Leah goes into his bedroom and come out all tired and beaten up? She does all the housework but he still does the same every night.Leah always told me to go out of the house at the time like that but where should I go in the middle of the night. I tried to protect her, but he is just too strong. When I will grow up I will kill this man.Hatred for him flows in my veins. We heard the knock. He is back. My sister started shivering. Like always. Whenever this man come near her, she reacts the same.Leah opened the door. He was standing in front of us. There was a woman standing behind him. She had a little girl in her arms.They were talking about something but my head was down and my mind was on the little girl, the lady was holding.Will she be living here too? Can I play with her? Will she talk to me?The lady went up. But that man was still standing there. "She is my wife but you are still needed. You know what I mean. She is not here for long. So till then behave." With that, he left.*********That same night Leah was called into his room. Again.I don't know what to do so I went downstairs and sat in the corner of the kitchen. It was the farthest place from his room.I heard light footsteps coming into the kitchen. I peeked from behind the island in between the kitchen. It was the little girl. She was rubbing her eyes from one hand and looking for something with the other hand.I stood up silently. Then she saw something on the table. She pulled the chair and stood on it and took a glass and tried to fill water in it. But the jug was too heavy for her. So I went and helped her.She looked shocked. Her already big eyes become bigger. Is she scared of me? Well, it is true I am a stranger to him. Should I introduce myself first?I gave her a smile first. "Hi, I am Chase. I and my sister work for your dad." When she heard me saying dad, she frowned deeply.Then again she looked at me. This time really looked at me. I saw a wondrous look in her eyes. Then she said her very first words to me."Your eyes are really blue." Many people had told me that but the way she said it, made me believe that it is something good. I never liked the color of my eyes. They are very different from others. It always made me stand out and made me a target to bully in school.But when she said it, it felt like I have a precious gift. She was looking at me like I am not from this planet.She is cute. She has chubby cheeks, long hairs, and big eyes. She looks like a doll. I said thanks for her compliment and gave her the glass of water. We both sat on the table facing each other. I heard the noises coming from that man's room. I feel hatred towards that man. Only God knows, what work he is making my sister do this time?The little girl looked scared as hell. It was the voice, filled with pain. My heart was aching as well.I put my hands on her ears. "It is nothing. I am here." I told her. She nodded.************After some time...We talked... Well, she talked and I listened to everything. She told me about her mom, her teacher, and school. Then she told me what happened to them. Hearing how scared she was when some men kept her away from her mom, made me angry. She should not meet those types of people. People like her father. How could that beast be her father? That man doesn't deserve her. No one does.I was lost in my thoughts. She tapped my knees to get my attention.I looked at her. She saw too many bad things. "Did you get hurt?" I was looking at her all over to see if she got hurt anywhere."No, Xavier saved us." She said showing her all teeth."Who is Xavier," I asked curiously."He is the one who protected us from those bad guys. He promised me that he will protect mama." She answered."Is he your mama's friend?" I asked again. I don't understand the relationship between them. Why would he want to protect them? Maybe because he is a relative."No... Yes... I don't know." She looked very confused. Then after a little pause, she said. "I thought he was my dad at first but later I found out that he was not. Then the scary man came and I knew he was my dad...." She was upset with that."I wished Xavier is my dad." She said.Who is this man? She likes him very much. I don't like it. "I will protect you from now on." I whispered. I don't know why but I said those words. I wanted her to think of me as a special friend of hers like she will be mine. She told me about grandma and some guy named Ben. She misses them. I can see that.She talked a little more then her eyes started to closed again. I get off the table then I extended my arms for her to climb on me so that I could put her down. I took her to her room. The whole house was quiet. Maybe Leah was back in our room.She said good night and went in. She had her eyes closed. I was worried might bump into something.I went to my room.********* The next morning, Leah was not in bed, as usual. She must have started work by now. I freshen up and went towards the little girl's room.No one was in there. I get in. I saw the girl came out of some door. Her face was wet so I guess it was the bathroom. She gave me a sweet and bright smile of hers."Good morning Chase.""What is your name?""Evangeline." "Your name sounds like an angel.""Yes. It is. Will you play with me?" She asked suddenly while talking about her name.I nodded.  She keeps on talking while she made an imaginary cake for me. I was enjoying my new friend's company.Then her mom came. She gave me a duty to protect her from that bastard. I will do that gladly.I will not let him near her. After Evangeline's mom left, Leah came up to let us come down for breakfast. I took her hand and went downstairs.He was sitting on the dining table. I don't want him anywhere near her. I can see, she was scared of him. She was hiding behind me."The daughter is here." He said drunk. He is drunk again. This is not good."Your mom is a bitch, did you know?" He said angrily.We were standing far in the corner of the kitchen making as much as the distance between us. Evangeline was shivering behind me. It was making me angry."Master here is your breakfast." Leah interrupted him to divert his attention from Evangeline."I need to tell her about her mother. That what a whore she is. She slept with god knows how many......." That bastard started saying shit. I couldn't let her hear this. She is too innocent for this. I immediately turned around and put my hands on her ears. I mouthed her to look only at me. She listened to me obediently."You, bastard. What are you trying to pull? You are daring to stand against me?" He roared at me and charged to attack me but Leah came in between."Master, leave the kids. They don't know how to behave. You don't want your wife to find out this. Right?" Leah said. I looked at her. She is literally sacrificing herself right now because I know if she stood up in front of him to save me, what will happen to her. "I have had enough, in the room. Now." With that, he left.Leah had tears in her eyes when she looked at me. She bent over and slapped me. Evangeline shook from its impact. I put an arm around her."Leave the house. Stay out of it until I come to take you in. Keep the girl safe. Don't let her hear a noise from inside." She ordered me."Here, take this bread and go out. Now." With that, she left the kitchen. Her steps were wobbling. Only she knows what she is going to face. I never saw it. She did everything to avoid me seeing what that bastard do to my sister.I took Evangeline outside. We sat in the garden outside. I gave her bread pieces. The. We heard a braking sound and a painful voice. LeahI can't do anything. She said we have no choice but to stay here. When will I be able to protect her? I looked at the girl, sitting in front of me. Her face was getting pale be of the noises. "You eat. Nothing will happen to you, I promise." I gave her my peise of bread too and put my hands again on her ears. I realized that from yesterday, I had done this for a number of times.After some long hours for that torture, Evangeline's mom came back. When she saw us she asked but she understood in no time.She told us to not come in and I agreed. I hope she could save my sister.I looked at Evangeline. She was looking at nothing but me. Her eyes showed that she trusts me. That I will protect her.I have decided to make it my life's mission. To protect her.***********Hello, lovelies.Chase will be important as you must have guessed by now.
