Samantha was in her room. She quickly got into the bathroom and reapplied some makeup, then she checked herself closely. Once she was happy with how she looked, she picked up her bag and went out to create a chance encounter at the restaurant. In Samanthaâs eyes, Harmony was still a naive woman, so she would never see through the act.
Right after Harmony and Ezekiel sat down, Samantha came in, scrolling through her phone. She didnât say hi on purpose, as if she was waiting for someone else. Harmony saw her right away, and she was shocked. Whyâd I run into her so much these past couple of days? She didnât call out to her, however.
Angrily, Samantha made a call. âWhy arenât you here yet? Are you standing me up again? I canât believe this.â Samantha was an actress. If she wanted to act, she could make it convincing.
However, Harmony was also an actress, so she knew Samantha was acting. She could feel Samantha furtively glancing at them twice. She didnât turn around, but she knew that Samantha knew she and Ezekiel were there. Her instinct was always sharp when it came to this.
After Samantha yelled at the guy on the other end of the phone, she picked up her bag and was about to leave, but then she âsawâ Harmony, Surprised, she said, âHarmony? My gosh, youâre here too?â
Harmony really didnât want to catch up with Samantha at this moment, but out of courtesy, she said, âYes. Iâm having dinner with a friend.â
Samantha cutely said, âMan, my friend stood me up. Iâm starving. Mind if I join you guys? Having dinner alone is lonely.â She turned to Ezekiel, and her pupils contracted. He was more awe-inspiring in real life than he was in the photo.
Just when Samantha thought Harmony wouldnât refuse, Harmony refused, âSorry, but my friend doesnât like having dinners with strangers.â Harmony looked at her apologetically.
Samantha quickly asked Ezekiel, âSir, do you mind if I join you two for dinner?â If he agrees, Harmony will agree.
The moment Ezekiel met Samanthaâs gaze, he knew the kind of woman she was. Coldly, he said, âYes, I mind.â
Samantha smiled awkwardly. She looked at Harmony, hoping she would let her stay. Harmony would not. She saw through Samantha. Sheâs creating this chance encounter for one reason: to get to know Ezekiel through me. Sheâs not getting that. âSorry, Sam. Next time, dinnerâs on me, though,â said Harmony.
Samantha was frustrated. Sheâs not even giving me a chance. Suddenly, she saw the hickeys on Harmonyâs neck, and then she noticed how glowing Harmony was looking. She mustâve done it with him. Jealousy flared in her heart, but she knew she had to leave. âIâll be going, then. You enjoy your dinner.â
Harmony heaved a sigh of relief after Samantha left. She said, âSheâs my classmate back in the film academy.â
Ezekiel saw through Samantha right away. She came here for him. He was happy Harmony refused the request of a scheming woman like that. She would disturb their dinner otherwise.
Birdâs nest was served, and Ezekiel pushed it over to her. âHere, have this. Youâll need to replenish your strength.â
Harmony blushed. Youâre the one who wrung me dry.
Samantha watched the couple through the window, biting her lip angrily. She couldnât believe Harmony did not act as anticipated.
