âIs there something even more important than your life?â Richard questioned as he walked toward the conference building.
Angela trotted to keep up with him. âYes. Itâs more important than my life.â
Richard turned his head and glanced at her.
â| want to talk to my boyfriend on the phone. You donât know how important this relationship is to me. Losing him is like losing my life,â Angela uttered seriously.
Richard gave her another inexplicable look.
âDo you understand what Iâm saying? Do you understand how | feel?â Angela was getting even more anxious now, and then she suddenly took a breath and huffed angrily, âHow can a dummy like you understand? You must have never been in a relationship!â
âHow do you know that | havenât?â
Richard retorted with his lips pursed.
âOf course, | know! Iâm a woman. No woman would fall for someone as rude and blunt as you!â Angela complained angrily.
Instead, Richard sneered at her, âDoes that mean a hopeless romantic like you who canât live without a man is more lovable?â
Angelaâs face turned crimson at his statement. How dare he judge her like that?! Biting her lip, she blustered, âI donât care. | want to be connected to the Internet for an hour. Do it for me right now.â
âNot even a second,â Richard insisted with a cold expression and was about to leave.
Angela immediately clenched her teeth. stepped forward, and blocked his way with her arms extended. âYou're not going anywhere before | get connected.â
Richard did not take her seriously.
Immediately, he strode toward her.
thinking that she would leave.
Who knew that instead of avoiding him. he slammed into her? All of a sudden, they were almost touching each other under the lights.
He instantly felt a mass on his chest. Angela raised her face that had blushed the shade of a rose, yet she was stubborn. When she realized what he had just done, she quickly took a step back.
âHow dare you take advantage of me?!â She gritted her teeth.
âI'm not interested in you,â Richard replied unceremoniously.
â| donât need you to be interested in me either. Lend me your phone. | want to call my boyfriend.â Angela could still use his phone if she could not use hers.
âNo.â Richard looked disgusted. He did not want to lend her his phone so that she could flirt with another guy over the phone!
âFive minutes will do.â Angela softened because she realized that this man was tougher than her.
Sheâs gonna follow me everywhere if | donât say yes, and | have a meeting to attend now. He took his phone out. Two minutes.
That's the best | can do.â
Angela took his phone quietly and called her boyfriend right away. She wanted to talk to him, and the call went through. but Dexter didnât pick up. âCâmon, pick up. What are you doing, Dexter? You should've already gotten off the plane,â she muttered under her breath.
The call ended, and she made another one, but Dexter still didnât pick up. Richard was starting to get annoyed. âGive me the phone.â
âOne minute. Just one more minute, please.â Angela made another call, but nobody picked up. Disappointed, she heaved a long sigh. For some reason, she teared up. She missed Dexter a lot, and she tried her best to contact him, but the fact that he didnât pick up hurt her.
Richard stared at her, and he frowned. âThat's the guy you'd die for?â He couldn't believe she was going to cry.
She noticed the mockery, and she bit her lip. âYou have no idea what love is like. Itâs a waste of time talking to you. You'll know how | feel when you fall in love with someone. She turned away, and tears fell down her cheeks. Angela wiped them away awkwardly and went in the opposite direction.
She looked forlorn and lonely, especially under the dim light.
