Chapter 185: Chapter 175: The Next Morning

The morning’s sun rose, shining right across my room’s window. The bright light reaching my face made me slightly uncomfortable until I was able to finally wake up. I found myself on my bed, feeling rather well-rested. For a moment, it felt like I’d been sleeping here like always, after having gone through a normal day. The memories and sensations of a life I once had as a young girl in a slightly wealthy family with two loving parents and a big brother who always took care of me.

Usually, I would wake up and immediately go down to have breakfast before doing anything else; my mom would greet me with a plate full of pancakes; and my dad would greet me while reading the newspaper. My brother would tell me a joke, and I would giggle while watching the morning cartoons while enjoying the tasty pancakes. Then I would go take a shower, wash my teeth, get dressed up, and go to school with my brother.

I would spend my time in school with my friends, be reprimanded by my teachers for being too noisy, and then get picked up by my brother, who would bring me back home. Like this, for days, months, years...

“Hahh…”

I couldn’t help but sigh. Remembering those memories only made me feel melancholy. I always took such a life for granted, unaware of how blessed I truly was. It made me rather sad to think everything was gone now. My mom, my dad... Only my brother was left, and he had changed so much that sometimes it felt like the Jack of back then had died long ago.

But he hasn’t died; he’s still there. I can sense him. He had changed, and he was slowly losing himself, but I’ll make sure he remembers who he truly is: my brother, a lovable, charismatic man who likes to tell jokes, loved skateboarding, had a crush on the popular girl, and was interested in marine biology. I remember he had many aquariums with all sorts of fish.

[“You’re finally awake.”]

The voice of Gram echoed inside my mind, and then Sepa talked right after.

“Anna, you’ve been sleeping for three days now. Are you alright? You overexerted your body too much. Fighting all those apostles, then killing a constellation and absorbing half their soul... I thought you would be in a coma for at least a month.”

“Wow, since when have you been so worried?” I laughed a bit. “Don’t worry about me; I’m fine. Maybe I just needed to rest to stabilize my body and soul. Hah, that battle three days ago—was it real? It felt like a dream.”

[“It sure was real; it’s all over the news now... Well, based on what I’ve heard from the TV”]

“I heard they’re calling all survivors of the Raid as National Heroes, you’ll probably get some sort of fancy medal and maybe new government privileges.”

“Privileges? Hmm, maybe I’ll be able to travel to another country more easily now. They only allow wealthy people or super-experienced hunters. Mostly due to all the flying monsters disrupting the flight.”

After yawning one last time, I checked my Status lazily, noticing the numbers had gone up quite a lot, yeah, a LOT.

“Huh…”

Yeah, it has changed a lot from its humble beginnings. It almost feels nostalgic when I remember that my Status used to be small and cute. Now there’s a cluster of skills, privileges, and whatnot. I still have two sealed Traits, a new usable one, several new Skills I haven’t checked yet, and some Stats Points to administer as well.

It’s quite a lot! 1150 Stat Points! Maybe I should finally add them to a stat? Ki and Cosmic Energy can’t be used, though. So what else? Mana maybe? It is a very essential energy to activate all skills; after all, even further in the future, it will still be crucial.

But then again, the reason why I have not administrated them anymore is because if my system is kind of like my brother’s, once I reach a three-star Class or Subclass, the stat bonuses that the stat points grant will increase a lot. I will be losing on stats if I administrate it all right now.

It’s better to save until those changes. I think it was the only change ever. So I won’t have to hoard them much longer. But yeah, it should change from the usual 1 = 1 conversion to the whopping 1 = 5 for other stats and then 1 = 10 for HP and MP. I can’t miss converting my 1k Stat Points into a whopping 10k! I’ll have to be patient.

For now, there are a lot of things on my mind. Now that the Chimeras’ and the Death Apostles' threats have been finally prevented and stopped, there’s a list of other things I need to do. But so many without a proper list will make me go crazy, so I need to write my to-do list.

It took me a while, but after a few minutes, I was done. I could hear the voices of my friends outside my room and my brother’s too, but I’d go outside a bit later.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Anyway, my list, in no particular order, was:

-Help all friends grow stronger. Improve their privilege?

-Explore the Abandoned Temple that should appear anytime soon now and get the materials for Physique Evolution.

-Visit Hilda’s village and stop the dungeon from expanding over there.

-Do the Rank Up Trial to be able to level up and gain a new Class and Subclass.

-Craft new gear using the materials gathered so far with Hilda’s help.

-Spend time with my brother to settle his many grievances and feelings.

-Prepare for the Second Awakening.

-On the Second Awakening, use the Ring of the Administrators to travel around the world, find the treasures I need, and recruit budding talents to my side. This is a MUST do for the Third Awakening, or Earth will be lost forever.

-Stop the Demonic Human Cults from ruining humanity’s chance to grow stronger. If possible, kill them all.

-Recruit Historical and Minor Constellations into my "nebula." Currently, currently only Isis is in the group, maybe Gaia, and probably Abraham Lincoln too. And, of course, Sepa by default. The rest that usually watch me are not Constellations I can trust.

“Is that about it?” I wondered, sighing in relief.

[“Huh, that’s quite the to-do list, brat! You sure will be busy…”]

“Will you even take a break?”

Gram and Sepa had already become my companions in all these things. They’re probably the only ones I can trust with these secrets because they’re linked to me, and they can’t really spread them without my permission.

“I will. I think I’ll take this month- No, that’s too much time wasted. Maybe two weeks of break? Is that alright?” I wondered. “I’ll continue growing stronger by practicing my skills. Also, I need to help everyone grow a bit stronger.”

“I guess this world... We cannot be saved if we don’t work our hardest.” Sepa sighed.

“Huh, you’ve surely changed from the former cocky giant millipede you used to be!” I said with a giggle. “Are you seriously worried about the planet?”

“Of course I am... Even if this is merely one of the many worldlines, She sighed. “I am now bound to you; if you die, I might die too. So it is better to just play along!” She got embarrassed and groaned angrily.

“Okay, okay.” I laughed. “Don’t get mad. You got yourself into this situation for violating the rules. Administrators would have never let you get away with making a monster your incarnation, Sepa.”

“I do admit it was foolish of me.” She lamented. “I just… I wanted a powerful incarnation, so the rest of the Constellations would stop looking down on me. Unlike Anubis or Osiris, I lacked a Realm I could call home; they took the Egyptian Underworld all for themselves, and then Osiris was taken down by Anubis, leaving him the only ruler. That damned jackal”

“We’ll have to eventually fight his incarnation... It must already be on the move.” I sighed. “Hel too; we’ll have to prepare for whatever new incarnation she chooses.”

[“These damn Constellations seriously have no lives! Why are they so dead set on wasting energy and resources on taking you down?”]

“Well, the stronger they grow, the higher their ego becomes. I believe they were already born powerful too, so they lack the experience of defeat and so on and cannot take it when someone tells them to fuck off.” I sighed. “Anyways, enough with this chit-chat. We’re busy here. It’s time to check what they have in store for me.”

Suddenly, the invisible veil I created out of my Cosmic Aura dissipated, making it possible for the Constellations to see me without it all being blurry. This was a special “Cosmic Veil of Privacy” specifically made to protect me from Constellations spying on me.

It doesn’t completely hide me, but it blurs my appearance and also makes what we say unintelligible. Even with the Gaze of the Seamless Void guarding me, they might still be watching me from afar.

“They? Who?” Sepa asked.

“The Constellations. Of course! Dummy, do you think they’ve been just watching while doing nothing all this time?” I laughed a bit. “I’ve brought them more entertainment than they ever imagined. Some of them were enemies of Uroboros; they’re really happy the damned snake everyone hated is gone.”

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!

Suddenly, countless system notifications popped up, one after another. Dozens after dozens of Constellations were sending me messages and leaving plenty of rewards. I’m sure they did the same with everyone else who participated. This is their strategy to try to tempt me into joining their Nebula.

Yikes, even Lucifer is out there cursing me. I’ve made myself quite a lot of foes. But they’re all mostly on the kill list anyway. With my brother, we’re going to kill them all. No questions were asked. You’re all going down. We killed Uroboros, and we can kill more.

Maybe I’m getting a bit too heated... Or cocky, but facts are facts. Nonetheless, all of this messed-up event happened because of the butterfly effect I created due to my meddling. And it might get even worse.

Therefore, to be prepared for the worst possible scenario, I will have to get even stronger. And just in time, some other notifications were appearing. These were unrelated to the Constellations and were related to Heisenberg’s defeat.

I knew I wasn’t going to go unrewarded for that.
