44.Disastrous Dinner

"Bell! Do I need to come over? Is Alex there with you?" I asked in a concerned voice hoping that she is okay.

"Choco! It's a mild fever and Alex is down the kitchen making me soup and you don't need to come cause you need to attend the medical conference, remember?" Bell replied sounding weak and after talking with her for a while and asking her to rest, I ended the call.

A while ago Alex had called me asking me to send him the recipe to make soup and when I asked him further he told me that Bell has got a fever and she had called him early in the morning to call him over. At first I was disappointed as my bff didn't call me when she needed me but then Alex reason out that she didn't want me to be late for the conference.

And talking about it, it will be starting in ten minutes so I grabbed my phone and unlocking the car, I get out and step inside Peter's hotel where the conference will be held with the presence of the top doctors, business associates, medical associates and few government officials.

I passed the keys to the chaperone and entered the lobby. I looked around in hope of finding someone I know but all I saw was the strangers. So I walked to the reception desk and asked the beautiful lady about the medical conference.

"Mam, can you please tell me your name?" The burnet asked me with a beautiful smile.

"I'm Dr.Shalifa Velour. I a-" I was saying with a small smile playing on my lips when a voice came from behind and poke in between.

"No. It's Dr.Shalifa Shaub Reghen." A husky and familiar voice said from behind and I turn around to find the jerk giving me a playful smirk which made me to glare at him.

"Don't listen to him? Anyway, can you show me the way?" I asked sounding little irritated and impatient.

"Thanks Laibya. I will take her." The jerk said snaking his hand on my waist and gave me a smug look.

"What the hell are you doing?" I hissed trying to free his hand but he tighten his grip and pulled me closer while gazing intensely at my face.

"I'm too here for the conference and I'm accompanying you, my love." He said in a playful voice and walked ahead but I stop in my track and was about to yell at him when an old lady gave me a nasty glare.

"Oh! What a handsome young man!" She chirped eyeing Shaub hungrily which was a disgusted sight to see as she was old enough to be his grandmother but no, she was shamelessly flirting with my jerk.

My jerk!? God! What's wrong with me?

"....Aww that so sweet of you and let me introduce you with my daughter. She...." A gorgeous woman with a blonde hair walk towards us like a Victoria secret model and gave a seductive look to Shaub.

Shaub too gave a flirty grin to her and return the hug with me still at his side and not to forget the tight grip he have on my waist. Mother was not enough so now the daughter too is shamelessly batting her eyelashes at him.

I roll my eyes with a disgusted look and then thought of freeing from his hold but no the jerk didn't let me go. What the hell he is trying to do? I had a very good week without his presence but now he is not letting me go.

He had been sending me presents with a message written on the card and had continuously called me but I had ignored his every approach and now he is ignoring me by openly filtering with these two woman when I'm trying to get rid of him.

"Asshole." I muttered underneath my breath while boring hole on the side of his head.

"Shaub! If you are doing this to make me jealous then you have got the wrong move. So let me go." I lost my patience and with luck I get rid of him.

I then walked away to the conference hall asking the bell boy for the direction and then my phone rang.

"Hello! Mom." I answer my phone walking down the hall.

"Honey! Your father is going to sue Shaub. He is not listening to me." Mom said in a panic voice and I could hear dad telling her to end the call.

"Mom! I had told him already that I don't want anything to do with Shaub anymore. He had already done enough damage and I don't want further destruction. What he had done has already been done? So it's waste of time fighting over something in which we will lose. Please mom make him understand. Please!" I don't want that jerk to make our lives more difficult and he is so powerful and rich that it would be of no use to case a file.

"Okay choco. I will try to make him understand. You know we love you and your dad has been through a lot so hope you understand. Don't stress and believe in me." Mom assured me and I inhale a long breath clearing my mind.

"Mom love you too and you are the best. And now I got to go. Bye." I tried to sound happy and with a bye she ended the call. Then I felt someone's presence behind my back which startled me and I gasped out loud with a scared look.

"Oh! Luim. You scared me to death." I shake my head trying to control my breathing and he hold my arm with a sheepish look.

"Mm..I haven't thought you will be scare like this. So now let's go inside." He intertwined our fingers and he look at the side with a hard look.

I gave a confuse look to him and followed his gaze to find a very pissed Shaub who was burning with angry and muttering curses under his breath. I just ignored the looks he was giving me and walked inside with Luim with a straight face.

I sat beside Luim and other colleagues and then the conference started with the introduction of medical care. And the whole time I could find Shaub penetrating gaze on me and when it was my time to speak his glare was making me hard to speak but I somehow ended my speech. Then the conference finally ended at 6 and biding goodbye to others Luim and I walked towards the lobby.

"Choco! Can you have dinner with me? I want to take you out." Luim asked once we were at the front door and gave me a hopeful eyes. But before I could answer an annoying voice beat me to it.

"She is having dinner with me." Shaub said glaring at Luim and halt beside me.

"I didn't ask you asshole. So, Choco! Shall we go?" Luim hold my hand and gave me a pleading look to walk along but Shaub grabbed my another hand and pulled me towards him.

He could have make it through but half way Luim pull me towards him. And for a moment I couldn't get what the hell is happening and they kept on pulling me back and forth, fighting for a mouth watering candy like small children.

"Stop it, you two!" I screamed trying not to gain much attention but all the people around the lobby were eyeing us differently like we were insane.

"I'm going my home so you two do the same or go wherever you want. But just leave me." I huff in annoyance and then I received a message from mom telling me to come home early for dinner.

I glare at them for the last time before walking out of the hotel and drove towards home. Ugh those two men are good for nothing. They always create scene whenever they are together and embarrass me in front of everyone. Why don't they understand that I don't want to go with both of them?

And when I reached home, mom was cooking dinner and she had taken out new sets of dinner plates which she does only when someone is coming for dinner. I asked her who was coming and she said that someone whom we knew but didn't tell me the name and send me off to change my dress. Then I asked mom about dad and she told me that dad listened to her and decided to agree with us.

After the dinner was ready and the table was set, someone rang the doorbell and mom asked me to look for it. Who could come at this hour? Dad had already arrived and Syong is in his room then it might be...mom's guest. I walked to the front door without looking at the side screen and opened the door to see the least expected person.

"What the hell? What are you doing here?" I shouted at Shaub who was wearing black shirt with denim and was carrying a bag in one hand.

"Is this your way to welcome the guest? Then I must say you are a bad host but you don't have to worry when I'm with you, my love?" He said with his signature smirk which made me to roll my eyes in irritation.

And I was about to close the door in his face but mom stop me while welcoming him inside like he is her freaking son.

"Mom! What ar-" I was about to ask mom when dad loud voice boomed from the living area.

"...GET OUT BEFORE I DO SOMETHING BAD." Dad shouted at Shaub with a venomous voice and gave a sharp glare at mom when she entered the room.

"Nat! I a-" Mom tried to reason out but Dad cut her off.

"No Rory! How could you invite him when he was the reason of our princess pain? How could you do this to her?" Dad screamed at mom and then Syong entered the room giving a disgusted look to Shaub.

"I invited him over to talk Nat and don't tell me that I couldn't invite him cause he is the only one who could fix the pain which our daughter is facing. But before that I want all of you to be civil with others. Dinner is getting cold so let's eat first. And thanks for the cookies Shaub." Mom said in a stern voice leaving no place for argument and we all went to the dining area.

Dad denied to have dinner but mom dragged him and made him to take the sit. Then mom served the dinner and mouthed sorry to me when Shaub seated next to me and our shoulder and thigh slightly touched making me shiver in the contact. There was a huge tension going on the room but mom was trying her best to ease the tension and converse with Shaub but dad was busy plotting his death and Syong too was giving out same vibe.

I could hear Shaub confident voice but I know that he was intimidated by dad's presence and he is afraid making wrong move so he didn't spare a glance at me. Not that I was disappointed but I wanted to tell him to go back as I could see my dad clenching and unclenching his fist and if he is mad then nobody could stop him not even my mom. But this time mom had done something which might made the situation worst as dad is overprotective about me and he wouldn't spare Shaub not anymore.

"Enough! Rory, I thought you were inviting Luimon to join us as he is dating our daughter but you.." Dad put the glass on the table with a thud and his words made me to choke on my food.

"Here drink this. You couldn't eat properly." Shaub made me drank the water and I relaxed placing my hand on my chest.

"I know what I had done isn't something reasonable but I'm extremely sorry for the things I have done. But please give me a chance..." Shaub apologized looking guilty and gave a sad look to me.

"You don't deserve a chance and just get the hell out of our house. You asshole." Syong spat with disgust and gave a blow to Shaub as he was sitting across him.

"SYONG! I TELL YOU TO ACT CIVIL AND NOW APOLOGIZE TO SHAUB. YOUR ACTION IS IRRELEVANT." Mom shouted and gave a apologetic look to Shaub.

I then get up from the chair and ran to kitchen to bring the first aid. This is why I don't want my dad to sue him nor meet him and now my brother is equally pissed. But I knew Shaub had seen that blow coming towards him instead he remained still and let my brother paint his face.

Is he insane or what?

"... it's my fault anyways and I should be sorry." I hear Shaub said once I enter the dinning area and he stopped when he see me with the first aid box. I avoided making eye contact with anyone and sat down on my chair. I made Shaub look at me and apply medicine on his face while ignoring the looks my dad and brother was giving me.

"I think you're happy to cause this disastrous dinner. Aren't you?" I sarcastically said once I had finished applying the medicine and didn't give him a chance to speak as I dragged him out to the front door and closed the door once we were out.

"Listen Shaub! Now you have apologized to my family and got the blow so please don't ever cross our path." I said in a firm voice without showing any emotion and gave a get-away look.

"Why should I never come here? So that your boyfriend would get mad and you will have hard time sending me away? " He seethed giving a harsh to me.

"And I know you miss me a lot as I miss you. Also you're angry with me but I won't give up. I will make up to you, my love." He said in a challenging voice giving me make-me-go-away look.

"Shuab! I don't understand why do you want me to listen to you when there's nothing I want to do with you. You are a certified jerk and seeing you made me feel pain which I so wanted to subside but you didn't let me do so by constantly reminding me of your existence." I said in a pained voiced and control myself from breaking down in front of him.

"So, I gave you pain? I..." Shaub asked in a broken voice with a hurt face and made me to look at his face.

His deep ocean blue eyes were not shining anymore but they were dull as if it has lost its shine and I couldn't point out why he was hurt listening to my words.

"Tell me that you don't want me around you. Tell Shalifa that I only give you pain. Tell me god damnit." Shaub furiously yelled at me and shake me to answer him.

"Mr.Shaub Reghen from the day I met you, all I have got was the pain and hatred from you. So do the favour of not coming back ever again." I said looking directly in his eyes and he stare at me for a second and drove away getting in his car in a high speed.

I-I didn't say the whole truth as it was a lie that he gave me only pain while he was the one who made me feel something special which nobody had ever made me feel. He is the jerk but at some point he made me like that side of him too.

Ugh I'm going insane!

And when I entered the living area after five minutes of Shaub's departure, I didn't see anyone so thinking that they might have call it a day, I went to my room and after changing into my pj I lay down on the bed. I closed my eyes to sleep but I saw Shaub's hurt face and I tossed around on the bed to get some sleep but I became restless.

Then at midnight I received a call from an unknown number and I was about to reject it when I accidentally pressed the accept button and after listening to that person, all colour drain from my face and I abruptly sat on the bed with a panicked expression.

"I'm coming there in a couple of minutes. Please take care of him." I then placed the mobile on the nightstand and ran to my closet putting on my shirt and pant. I took the mobile and grabbed the car key before get out of the house to drive towards the stated address.

God! Please let him be okay. I-I regret saying those things to him.
