After they were done with their conversation, Amethyst finally found out who was waiting for her. As Alexcent left her chamber, she entered.
âLunia!â Amethyst exclaimed.
âHello, my Lady. My name is Lunia, and I will be serving you.â
Amethyst leapt out of bed and tackled her with a big embrace.
âThat wasnât nice.â Lunia mumbled, with a hint of a snicker.
âIâm sorry,â Amethyst smiled back.
âDo you know how much I searched for you?â
Amethyst looked at her as if she was nuts.
âI said I would resign and chase you after you.â Lunia was being serious. âBut I was stopped by Gen and scolded for my reckless behaviour.â
Amethyst felt horrible that she caused so much trouble. âLunia, Iâm really sorry. I wasnât even thinking of the people around me. You see, I wasâ¦â
âI donât care now.â Lunia stopped her. âIâm just happy you came back safely. Thatâs enough for me. Youâre not going anywhere else now, right? Youâre not leaving?â
âNot at all,â Amethyst laughed.
âRoman will soon be hereâ¦â Lunia began.
The bedroom door suddenly flew open and Roman ran in to hug Amethyst. âMaâam!!â
ââ¦to greet you,â Lunia finished, smiling.
âIâm sorry.â Roman quickly detached himself and stepped back, realizing he had just touched his Mistressâ body without permission.
Amethyst responded with a bright smile. âItâs quite all right.â
âIâm glad youâre safe,â Roman said. âI was so worried when you suddenly said you were going to be studying abroad. Then the Duke disappeared.â
âUh, Roman.â Lunia said carefully. Apparently, this was a topic they were not supposed to discuss.
âIâm sorry,â Roman said, backing down.
âWell, you know what comes next,â Lunia said, handing Amethyst some clothing.

âSir Hill!â Amethyst was all smiles when she arrived at the training grounds in the comfortable garments that Lunia had provided for her. The knights were all gathered there.
âOh my, look whoâs here!â Sir Hill announced.
The knights all gathered around, welcoming her back.
âHow is everyone doing?â Amethyst asked. âEveryone seems the same as when I left.â
âYouâre looking a little different,â Sir Hill mentioned. âYouâre a bit lighter?â He pointed at her hair.
âHow is it?â Amethyst asked. âDo I look more like a knight? I look sharp, right?â
âItâs not bad,â Leyrian answered. The knights looked at him and he shrugged his shoulders, not caring what anyone thought.
Amethyst could not stop smiling as they greeted her like an old friend who they hadnât seen for a while. âSo, what brings you to the training grounds?â Sir Hill asked.
âWhy do you think Iâm here? Iâm here to learn swordsmanship,â Amethyst announced.
âSwordsmanship?â Sir Hill looked to be in shock.
âYou know, the sword ability thing. I want to learn the moves that make your opponents not able to fight. Thatâs possible without magic, right?â
Hill, Leyrian, and even Buer looked at one another, silent at her rambling. âIt is different from magic but how did you know about these moves? And why do you want to learn it?â
âI was attacked by it before.â Amethyst said. There was no point in beating around the bush. She didnât want to hide anything anymore.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Buer was taken aback. âBefore? When? Who was it? How dare they! I wonât let them be! Iâll go and kill them!â
âHeâs already been taken care of by Alec, so you donât have to worry,â Amethyst said, hoping to calm the knight. âI justâ¦â
âNo.â Sir Hillâs answer cut Amethystâs words off. She glared at his abrupt answer.
âWhy?â she asked.
âFirst, you have no reason to use it.â
âWhat do you mean?â Amethyst felt that she had as much right to train as anyone else.
âDonât you know?â Sir Hill said in wonder. âThere are now five shadows that protect you without you even knowing they are there.â
Amethyst had no idea. She couldnât even sense them. How long had her hidden guards been following her? She assumed they were there by the order of Alec, which meant they would have been there the first day she returned.
âI didnât know,â Amethyst said, looking around to try to spot the hidden guards.
âOf course, you wouldnât know. Theyâre very skilled. It takes a highly skilled knight to sense their presence.â
âEven so, should I not prepare myself for the worst-case scenario?â The knights all knew how stubborn Amethyst was. Sir Hill sighed.
âYou have to join the order of the knights first. And you need to reach a middle-class standing, which requires a great amount of training. It might be too much for you to handle.â
âI wonât know that until I try. I have a fair bit of stamina; I think I can handle it.â
âYouâll be busy taking care of parts of the Skad familyâs business affairs, so you wonât have time to train. Besides, thereâs no way the duke would even allow it.â
âSo, youâre saying if I get Alecâs permission, youâll allow me to do it?â Amethyst had him trapped.
Hill caressed his beard thoughtfully, then hesitantly nodded. He had decided it would be easier to let the duke handle it, rather than trying to stop her himself. Amethyst smiled, then scanned the faces of the knights.
âWhereâs Sir Barden?â
âHeâs on vacation. Heâs probably at his home,â Sir Hill answered. âHe stayed at the Skad mansion, alone, after everyone got fired. We gave him a vacation as a reward for his loyalty as a knight.â
Amethyst looked like Sir Hill, confused. âWhat do you mean everyone got fired?â
